mod_unistim needs developers.
by Brian West 24 Jan '07

24 Jan '07

Attention Everyone. The Author of chan_unistim in Asterisk has given us an MPL license to his code to use in FreeSWITCH. Now I'm Calling on someone in the community to step up and code the driver based on his code. I'll be willing to send you a Nortel phone to test and port with. If you're willing to take up this task please message me off list or bkw_ on #freeswitch. The code is written it just needs to be ported to FreeSWITCH. Someone with a bit of time and skill and willingness to learn the FreeSWITCH API should be able to do this in short order. Thanks, Brian West

mod_xml_rpc.c:76 do_config() open of xml_rpc.conf failed
by Paweł Pierścionek 24 Jan '07

24 Jan '07

Hi, With the new split config thingy I cannot get xml_rpc.conf.xml to be included :( If I copy the content of this file to the main freeswitch.xml than everything is ok but if I use the template's #include xml_rpc.conf.xml then I get this error in the log: 2007-01-24 03:23:30 [ERR] mod_xml_rpc.c:76 do_config() open of xml_rpc.conf failed and xml_rpc port is being set to 0 (=random). sipXconfig + freeswitch integration
by Paweł Pierścionek 23 Jan '07

23 Jan '07

Hi, Almost done. I need one more patch to be accepted and have some wishes ;) The "only" implemented XML/RPC procedure is freeswitch.api which cannot be used in a Java interface declaration as it contains a dot in the name of the procedure. I would like to add a second one that can be declared as a Java method :) And now my wish - How soon can I except FS to read multiply config files for each section instead of one, monolithic freeswitch.xml ? I do not like the concept of sipXconfig generating the whole freeswitch.xml file instead of a small dialplan.xml/whatever. MRCP 2.0 Stack
by Brian West 22 Jan '07

22 Jan '07

Anyone want to provide me a quote on what it would cost for someone on this list to code an MRCP 2.0 stack. I might have someone lined up to provide funding for that but we are too busy to code this ourselves if someone could step up and assist in coding this. The final code would be MPL/BSD licensed. Please contact me off list brian.west(a)mac.com Thanks, Brian West

FreeSwitch / sipXconfig integration
by Paweł Pierścionek 18 Jan '07

Hi, I am integrating FS with sipX - for conferencing as the first step :) sipXconfig already has a conferencing WEB UI so I am just reusing it to dynamically create freeswitch.xml for FS running on the same machine as sipXconfig. Later on I will do it the proper way via xml/rpc so that sipXconfig can manage distributed FS conferencing setup. Right now I need a small patch to be accepted :) so that I can integrate sipX process management (watchdog) with FreeSwitch. What I need is basically a "no console, no fork" mode. :D :D --- freeswitch_snapshot/src/switch.c 2006-12-23 23:45:33.000000000 +0100 +++ fs_urtho/src/switch.c 2007-01-18 23:04:13.000000000 +0100 @@ -194,7 +194,8 @@ { char pid_path[256] = ""; // full path to the pid file const char *err = NULL; // error value for return from freeswitch initialization - int bg = 0; // TRUE if we are running in background mode + int nf = 0; // TRUE if we are running in nofork mode + int nc = 0; // TRUE if we are running in noconsole mode int vg = 0; // TRUE if we are running in vg mode FILE *f; // file handle to the pid file pid_t pid = 0; // @@ -264,7 +265,11 @@ } if (argv[x] && !strcmp(argv[x], "-nc")) { - bg++; + nc++; + } + + if (argv[x] && !strcmp(argv[x], "-nf")) { + nf++; } if (argv[x] && !strcmp(argv[x], "-vg")) { @@ -276,7 +281,7 @@ return freeswitch_kill_background(); } - if (bg) { + if (nc) { signal(SIGHUP, handle_SIGHUP); signal(SIGTERM, handle_SIGHUP); @@ -284,14 +289,14 @@ #ifdef WIN32 FreeConsole(); #else - if ((pid = fork())) { + if (!nf && (pid = fork())) { fprintf(stderr, "%d Backgrounding.\n", (int)pid); exit(0); } #endif } - if (switch_core_init_and_modload(bg ? lfile : NULL, &err) != SWITCH_STATUS_SUCCESS) { + if (switch_core_init_and_modload(nc ? lfile : NULL, &err) != SWITCH_STATUS_SUCCESS) { fprintf(stderr, "Cannot Initilize [%s]\n", err); return 255; } @@ -305,7 +310,7 @@ fprintf(f, "%d", pid = getpid()); fclose(f); - switch_core_runtime_loop(bg); + switch_core_runtime_loop(nc); return switch_core_destroy(vg); }

Using of .NET, SIP-TCP
by Sluschny, Thomas 09 Jan '07

09 Jan '07

Hi all, I want to use freeswitch with .NET and I see there is already a freeswitch.NET interface. But I'm new with freeswitch and I dont know how to use freeswitch in any language. Has anyone code snippets to make a call to/from an SIP-Device from/to a PC running Freeswitch (with soundcard and headset)? I've tried to configure something but I found nothing to simple use freeswitch.dll to call a SIP-Device. And btw: How can I configure SIP-Stack to use TCP? I inserted <param name="transport" value="tcp"/> in the sofia.conf settings section but no change (only UDP). Thanks for your help, Thomas

Happy Holidays.....
by Brian West 25 Dec '06

25 Dec '06

Dear Fellow FreeSWICHers, That time of year is approaching where I am trying to get things lined up for Cluecon '07. I'm doing a call for speakers for the '07 season. We are shooting for the last week in June and working hard to finalize the location (which is in Chicago as it is every year). Now if you wish to speak at Cluecon let me know... if you have an idea for a topic you would like to see or someone you think should be at Cluecon then please send me a followup email and we can discuss possible topics. Cluecon is open to all open source telephony and its a very developer centered conference. If you need me to sell the idea to your boss please let me know I will make the call. ;) Thanks, Brian West
