[Freeswitch-dev] Avoid Segfault
by Dave Greeko 30 Jun '15

30 Jun '15

Dear Dev-team,I'm so happy with how FreeSWITCH is built and thanks for such an awesome project. I'm in the process of building an FS module and I'm trying to understand how to avoid a potential thread synchronization issue(due to my logic). I have a global hash table that encapsulates business logic(lots of business data about caller and callee.) Leg A's UUID will be used as a key in the hash table that holds data fetched from database. Once the call is disconnected, a cleanup will take place during reporting state handler callback on Leg A which I'm thinking it will be called after hangup state. Now, if Leg B happens to take long time to process its database logic, Leg A might be gone before leg B is finished and at this point Leg B will segfault because the data it needs from the hash table are cleaned by Leg A reporting/hangup state handler. Cloning the data structure on both channels will fix this issue but will not be efficient, in addition having a mutex lock may not work because a thread might die holding a lock and this might be a potential FS core segfault. Any suggestion is very much appreciated. Best Regards,Dave

[Freeswitch-dev] ***NOTICE: FreeSWITCH File Distribution server slight path update.
by Ken Rice 15 May '15

15 May '15

Greetings FreeSWITCHers! Just a quick note, we¹ve done a little spring cleaning on http://files.freeswitch.org/ The root of the web server was getting a bit messy with all the old releases so we¹ve gone through and reorganized a little bit. FreeSWITCH Source Tarballs have been to http://files.freeswitch.org/releases/freeswitch and the sounds tarballs have been moved to http://files.freeswitch.org/releases/sounds/ There is a 301 redirect in place so all your old links to the sources will still work, but you¹ll want to update your scripts to bypass the 301 and look in the new locations. Have a Great Day! K -- Ken http://www.FreeSWITCH.org http://www.ClueCon.com http://www.OSTAG.org irc.freenode.net #freeswitch Twitter: @FreeSWITCH

[Freeswitch-dev] SaltStack config for building server for latest fs-video2 branch
by Chad Phillips 15 May '15

15 May '15

I spent the last few days working out an automated server build config for the active git branch where videoconferencing support is being developed. The config is executed via SaltStack, and I have wrappers for Vagrant and Linode as well. I followed the manual setup instructions detailed at https://freeswitch.org/confluence/plugins/servlet/mobile#content/view/71445… almost exactly to the letter. For a local development setup, running the Vagrant wrapper results in a fully functional local VM. You can even drop in valid SSL certs and use the hostsupdater module to get the Verto Demo page working locally. If anyone has an interest in this, let me know, and I can clean it up and make it public somewhere…

[Freeswitch-dev] Silence in conference recording
by miguelo sana 06 May '15

06 May '15

Hi, I use the recording functionality of mod_conference to record conference calls. The recording is save to a .wav file. Now for the second time in a few months I experienced something strange. The recording goes silent after 15 minutes of recording. But the recording is not stopped. There is nothing strange found in logging. And other recordings are not having this issue. Is there anyone who knows anything about this and how to fix or prevent this. Thanks. Miguelo
