USB FXO/FXS/Blue/DECT
by zakharov＠ca.inter.net 26 Nov '08

26 Nov '08

Good day, everyone! We (me and my friend) are developing very simple but very functional USB based FXS, FXO and Blue (cell phone channel) and possibly DECT dongles. At first idea was to make them compatible with Asterisk/Trixbox, but after talking to other potential users I realized that many of them would like to be able to use their existant Windows platforms - not like we don't want or don't like Linux based PBX (as matter of fact I as firmware developer don't care much which system will be used with proposed dongles). After looking around for possible solutions I run into your creation and after very brief look I liked it. Do you have well defined API (or are planning to have) to analog (not IP based) hardware? Our plan is to use composite USB device with Audio and HID descriptors. All our dongles will be presented via this interface. The question is that I would like to use more generalized logical API rather then expose hardware registers on a host driver level (like Zaptel/Dahdi does with Si3210 or Si3050 based FXO/FXS cards) including SPI and PCM configuration. Any suggestions? We are willing to contribute to FreeSwitch code base and make our dongles compatible with it. If you are interested then please reply to : zakharov(a)ca.inter.net On a side note - it's very hard to figure out if your development is "alive", even though I think I saw few files in the repository that were modified recently. How many people are behind the project? Best regards, Alexander

mod_erlang_event
by Rob Charlton 25 Nov '08

25 Nov '08

Hi, What is the status of the mod_erlang_event development? According to the changelog it appears to be under active development which is great! As the docs say, it only supports inbound - are there any plans to support outbound? I didn't want to launch in to implement anything if it was actively or imminently being worked on. We're looking to move over from a * based development which was controlled by Erlang - the Erlang code routed / recorded / processed /originated calls via a combination of AGI and a custom management interface. Bug in SIP URI: ; received="XX.XX.XX.XX:XXXX" is not valid (SIP BNF)
by Iñaki Baz Castillo 21 Nov '08

21 Nov '08

Hi, when FS calls to a natted user, it generates an INVITE with a Request URI as follows: INVITE sip:user@XX.XX.XX.XX:XXXX;transport=udp;received="XX.XX.XX.XX:XXXX" SIP/2.0 Well, this is not valid since a SIP URI parameter cannot contain quote symbol ("). You can verify it in RFC 3261 - page 222 (look for "other-param"): ------------ uri-parameters = *( ";" uri-parameter) uri-parameter = transport-param / user-param / method-param / ttl-param / maddr-param / lr-param / other-param transport-param = "transport=" ( "udp" / "tcp" / "sctp" / "tls" / other-transport) other-transport = token user-param = "user=" ( "phone" / "ip" / other-user) other-user = token method-param = "method=" Method ttl-param = "ttl=" ttl maddr-param = "maddr=" host lr-param = "lr" other-param = pname [ "=" pvalue ] pname = 1*paramchar pvalue = 1*paramchar paramchar = param-unreserved / unreserved / escaped param-unreserved = "[" / "]" / "/" / ":" / "&" / "+" / "$" ------------- This causes Twinkle sofphone droping the incoming request since it's malformed. Quote symbol (") should not be used in a SIP URI parameter in order to be SIP compliant. Since I just use Twinkle (the best and more SIP compliant softphone for Linux) I can't test FreeSwitch for now :( Best regards. -- Iñaki Baz Castillo

Request for guidelines on endpoints inner working
by Giovanni Maruzzelli 19 Nov '08

19 Nov '08

First things first: when I'll understand, I'll write the wiki page on endpoints inner working and development. I'm now beginning to rewrite the skypiax implementation, and I would like to do it in the most "accepted" way. skypiax (and celliax in the future) will have multiple interfaces (eg: multiple concurrent skype clients managed by the module). So, you can think at it as similar to mod_openzap as a general structure. At module loading, I will parse the config file, and create a "globals" struct that will contains the global values that can be inherited by all interfaces and an array of pointers to interface structs. For each Skype interface that I find defined in the config file, I will alloc and populate one interface struct pointed by one array member. If not overridden in the interface definition in the config file, the interface struct members will inherit the values from the globals. For each Skype interface, I will have a thread, started on module loading, that monitors that interface for signaling (incoming call, offline, buddies, etc). When an incoming call arrives, the signaling thread creates the session, get the interface name, create a private tech_pvt that is just a series of pointers to the members of the interface structure that is located by the name, put the channel in the CS_INIT state, start the thread on it, and forget. When there is an outboubd call, channel_outgoing_channel() find the interface name from outbound_profile->destination_num, create a private tech_pvt that is just a series of pointers to the members of the interface structure located by the name, put the channel in the CS_INIT state and forget. Is the above correct? How to send messages/events/etc (state changes, whatever) from the signaling thread to an active interface (eg. remote hangup)? How an active interface receives messages/events/etc (state changes, whatever) from the core FS (eg local hangup request)? Thank you to all that will answer, and please forgive the naiveness of this first posting. QUESTION: Additional info on a core dump?
by Michael Collins 19 Nov '08

19 Nov '08

FYI, I have a non-reproducible core dump and I noticed I get output I'd not seen before. I was just curious if some extra goodies had been added to tree? I noticed that it said "*** glibc detected ***" and I don't recall seeing that previously. Anyway, I was just curious. This particular segfault happened during shutdown after I'd made about 1300 openzap calls and 22 of 23 PRI B chans were stuck in HANGUP or TERMINATING mode. (See OPENZAP-9) Is this extra output normal and should we expect to see it going forward if we have seg faults? I want to make sure I tell people what to include in bug reports, pastebins, etc. Thanks, MC () Returning 388 recycled log node(s) 72944 bytes *** glibc detected *** freeswitch: munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0x09d1d680 * ** ======= Backtrace: ========= /lib/libc.so.6(cfree+0x1bb)[0x22e19b] /usr/local/freeswitch/lib/libfreeswitch.so.1(switch_core_memory_reclaim_logger+0 x81)[0xbc20f1] /usr/local/freeswitch/lib/libfreeswitch.so.1(switch_log_shutdown+0x4b)[0xbc215b] /usr/local/freeswitch/lib/libfreeswitch.so.1(switch_core_destroy+0x17c)[0xb8c13c ] freeswitch[0x8049f69] /lib/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xdc)[0x1d7dec] freeswitch[0x8048d41] ======= Memory map: ======== 00110000-00113000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2388258 /lib/libuuid.so.1.2 00113000-00114000 rwxp 00003000 fd:00 2388258 /lib/libuuid.so.1.2 0013c000-0014b000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2388979 /lib/libresolv-2.5.so 0014b000-0014c000 r-xp 0000e000 fd:00 2388979 /lib/libresolv-2.5.so 0014c000-0014d000 rwxp 0000f000 fd:00 2388979 /lib/libresolv-2.5.so 0014d000-0014f000 rwxp 0014d000 00:00 0 00195000-001a0000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2387485 /lib/libgcc_s-4.1.2-20080102.so .1 001a0000-001a1000 rwxp 0000a000 fd:00 2387485 /lib/libgcc_s-4.1.2-20080102.so .1 001a4000-001be000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2387430 /lib/ld-2.5.so 001be000-001bf000 r-xp 00019000 fd:00 2387430 /lib/ld-2.5.so 001bf000-001c0000 rwxp 0001a000 fd:00 2387430 /lib/ld-2.5.so 001c2000-002ff000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2388935 /lib/libc-2.5.so 002ff000-00301000 r-xp 0013c000 fd:00 2388935 /lib/libc-2.5.so 00301000-00302000 rwxp 0013e000 fd:00 2388935 /lib/libc-2.5.so 00302000-00305000 rwxp 00302000 00:00 0 00307000-0032c000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2388975 /lib/libm-2.5.so 0032c000-0032d000 r-xp 00024000 fd:00 2388975 /lib/libm-2.5.so 0032d000-0032e000 rwxp 00025000 fd:00 2388975 /lib/libm-2.5.so 00330000-00332000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2388973 /lib/libdl-2.5.so 00332000-00333000 r-xp 00001000 fd:00 2388973 /lib/libdl-2.5.so 00333000-00334000 rwxp 00002000 fd:00 2388973 /lib/libdl-2.5.so 00336000-00349000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2388968 /lib/libpthread-2.5.so 00349000-0034a000 r-xp 00012000 fd:00 2388968 /lib/libpthread-2.5.so 0034a000-0034b000 rwxp 00013000 fd:00 2388968 /lib/libpthread-2.5.so 0034b000-0034d000 rwxp 0034b000 00:00 0 00364000-0036b000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2388969 /lib/librt-2.5.so 0036b000-0036c000 r-xp 00006000 fd:00 2388969 /lib/librt-2.5.so 0036c000-0036d000 rwxp 00007000 fd:00 2388969 /lib/librt-2.5.so 00386000-003e3000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 8850999 /usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.0.8.6 003e3000-003e5000 rwxp 0005c000 fd:00 8850999 /usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.0.8.6 003e5000-003ee000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2387441 /lib/libnss_files-2.5.so 003ee000-003ef000 r-xp 00008000 fd:00 2387441 /lib/libnss_files-2.5.so 003ef000-003f0000 rwxp 00009000 fd:00 2387441 /lib/libnss_files-2.5.so 003f0000-00401000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 425418 /usr/local/freeswitch/lib/libop enzap.so 00401000-00402000 rwxp 00011000 fd:00 425418 /usr/local/freeswitch/lib/libop enzap.so 00491000-0049c000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 425251 /usr/local/freeswitch/mod/mod_o penzap.so 0049c000-0049d000 rwxp 0000b000 fd:00 425251 /usr/local/freeswitch/mod/mod_o penzap.so 0049d000-004c2000 rwxp 0049d000 00:00 0 0053c000-0054f000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 425272 /usr/local/freeswitch/mod/mod_v oicemail.so 0054f000-00550000 rwxp 00012000 fd:00 425272 /usr/local/freeswitch/mod/mod_v oicemail.so 005e7000-005e9000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 425268 /usr/local/freeswitch/mod/mod_s pidermonkey_socket.so 005e9000-005ea000 rwxp 00002000 fd:00 425268 /usr/local/freeswitch/mod/mod_s pidermonkey_socket.so 007d5000-007ff000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 425696 /usr/local/freeswitch/lib/libns pr4.so 007ff000-00801000 rwxp 00029000 fd:00 425696 /usr/local/freeswitch/lib/libns pr4.so 00801000-00802000 rwxp 00801000 00:00 0 00802000-00815000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 2388972 /lib/libnsl-2.5.so 00815000-00816000 r-xp 00012000 fd:00 2388972 /lib/libnsl-2.5.so 00816000-00817000 rwxp 00013000 fd:00 2388972 /lib/libnsl-2.5.so 00817000-00819000 rwxp 00817000 00:00 0 00937000-00954000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 752256 /opt/swift/lib/libceplang_en.so .5.0 00954000-0095a000 rwxp 0001c000 fd:00 752256 /opt/swift/lib/libceplang_en.so .5.0 0096a000-00978000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 425218 /usr/local/freeswitch/mod/mod_c ommands.so 00978000-00979000 rwxp 0000d000 fd:00 425218 /usr/local/freeswitch/mod/mod_c ommands.so 00979000-00a20000 r-xp 00000000 fd:00 425265 /usr/Aborted (core dumped) [root@freeswitch2 freeswitch.trunk]#

Lag in timestamps reported by FreeSWITCH
by Juan Jose Comellas 18 Nov '08

18 Nov '08

I've noticed that if FreeSWITCH (r10423) is left running for several hours (1 day in my case), the timestamps reported in log messages and events sent through mod_event_socket start lagging against the time reported by the server where FreeSWITCH runs. After 1 day, the time in FS was 3 minutes less than the time of the server. We are running ntp on the server, so the time is constantly updated to make sure that it stays correct. What's special about our setup is that all the dialplans are received via mod_xml_curl and that we use mod_event_socket a lot. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Sofia SIP doesn't handle fetching registrations
by Iñaki Baz Castillo 17 Nov '08

17 Nov '08

Hi, a SIP client can get its current registrations by sending a normal REGISTER but wituh no "Contact" header, as RFC 3261 says: ------------ 10.2.3 Fetching Bindings A success response to any REGISTER request contains the complete list of existing bindings, regardless of whether the request contained a Contact header field. If no Contact header field is present in a REGISTER request, the list of bindings is left unchanged. ------------- But when FreeSwitch receives a REGISTER with no Contact it returns an error and sends "500" error to the SIP client: 2008-11-16 20:29:27 [ERR] sofia_reg.c:960 sofia_reg_handle_sip_i_register() NO CONTACT! This is wrong obviosly. -- Iñaki Baz Castillo

SMDI in FS?
by Michael S Collins 12 Nov '08

12 Nov '08

Guys, Is it possible to do smdi? Assuming for the moment that time and money were not factors, what would be involved? Ideally I would want to see support for serial smdi as well as lan cuz there are still lots of legacy systems out there that could talk to a fs box via rs232. Anyway, would this need to be implemented as its own module, mod_smdi? I'm just curious because I might have a customer who could use fs as a VM system but smdi is required. Thanks! -MC Sent from my iPhone
