[Freeswitch-dev] Proper FreeSWITCH Debian repos for Jessie/Stretch installs
by Chad Phillips 06 Nov '18

06 Nov '18

I build FreeSWITCH from source for videoconferencing. As I’m updating from 1.6 to 1.8, I’m noticing the custom FreeSWITCH Debian repo arrangement is a bit confusing. At http://files.freeswitch.org/repo/deb/ we currently have: debian-unstable/ 15-Jul-2016 14:26 debian.old/ 16-Apr-2015 13:20 debian/ 07-Sep-2015 22:44 freeswitch-1.4/ 07-Sep-2015 22:44 freeswitch-1.6-testing/ 08-Feb-2017 17:09 freeswitch-1.6/ 28-Sep-2015 15:21 freeswitch-1.8/ 30-Jun-2017 15:18 When building for Jessie, I expected to just include the freeswitch-1.8 repo and ‘apt-get install freeswitch-video-deps-most’, but that fails because that repo has no Jessie distribution built. Then I tried debian-unstable, and that failed due to dependency conflicts. I finally got it working by using both the debian-unstable and freeswitch-1.6 repos with ‘apt-get install freeswitch-video-deps-most’, but this seems incorrect for a FreeSWITCH 1.8 install. Which leads to a couple of questions: - Are we missing a Jessie dist build for the freeswitch-1.8 repo, or is that intended? - What are the correct repo/repos to use when building 1.8 on Jessie? - What are the correct repo/repos to use when building 1.8 on Stretch? - Is ‘freeswitch-video-deps-most’ still the correct meta package?

[Freeswitch-dev] Does playing a video file in a conference depend on some other service on the server?
by Chad Phillips 28 Jul '18

28 Jul '18

Not sure if this is a bug, but it’s repeatable for me on latest master: When I first boot my server FreeSWITCH is automatically started as a service. When I then create a conference and try to play a video file in it, the audio plays, but the video is frozen. If I restart the FreeSWITCH service and then try playing the video file again, it works just fine, which makes me wonder if there’s some other service that FreeSWITCH reads on startup to aid in video file playback? Seems unlikely to me, but not sure how else to explain this rather odd problem. So if anyone knows a sysadmin-type fix for this, lemme know, otherwise I’ll file a JIRA.

[Freeswitch-dev] New JIRA consecutive issues filed record?
by Chad Phillips 27 Jul '18

27 Jul '18

On the last day of ClueCon, I filed nine consecutive JIRAs, FS-11279 <https://freeswitch.org/jira/browse/FS-11279> through FS-11287 <https://freeswitch.org/jira/browse/FS-11287> — seven bug fixes and two new features. Is that some kind of weird FreeSWITCH record??

[Freeswitch-dev] Do we have memory leak in eventing model?
by Mody, Darshan (Darshan) 06 Jul '18

06 Jul '18

We are looking into the memory leaks. We are heavily using BGAPI with lua interface. We are currently closely looking into switch_event_queue_dispatch_event method. We don't get why are we setting the values as NULL and not destroying the event. static switch_status_t switch_event_queue_dispatch_event(switch_event_t **eventp) { switch_event_t *event = *eventp; if (!SYSTEM_RUNNING) { return SWITCH_STATUS_FALSE; } while (event) { int launch = 0; switch_mutex_lock(EVENT_QUEUE_MUTEX); if (!PENDING && switch_queue_size(EVENT_DISPATCH_QUEUE) > (unsigned int)(DISPATCH_QUEUE_LEN * DISPATCH_THREAD_COUNT)) { if (SOFT_MAX_DISPATCH + 1 < MAX_DISPATCH) { launch++; PENDING++; } } switch_mutex_unlock(EVENT_QUEUE_MUTEX); if (launch) { if (SOFT_MAX_DISPATCH + 1 < MAX_DISPATCH) { switch_event_launch_dispatch_threads(SOFT_MAX_DISPATCH + 1); } switch_mutex_lock(EVENT_QUEUE_MUTEX); PENDING--; switch_mutex_unlock(EVENT_QUEUE_MUTEX); } *eventp = NULL; switch_queue_push(EVENT_DISPATCH_QUEUE, event); <-- We are pushing the event in the queue event = NULL; <-- we are just setting this value as NULL. Shouldn't we destroy the event using switch_event_destroy method? } return SWITCH_STATUS_SUCCESS; Help in this regard is highly appreciated. Thanks Darshan

Make sure this gets to Jira please. > On Jun 21, 2018, at 7:13 PM, Mody, Darshan (Darshan) <darshanmody(a)avaya.com> wrote: > > Hi > > We are observing memory leak when we have MIME data in the incoming invite.
