Channel variables from openzap
by Simon Capper 03 Oct '08

03 Oct '08

I want to access channel variables from an ozmod module in openzap. I can't see a way to do it in the current code. I'd like to add the feature and provide a patch for openzap when I'm done. I'm thinking of adding a void pointer that could be passed down via zap_channel_open that could be then be used from the ozmod modules? Mod_openzap would set the pointer to a function that would give access to channel variables. Thoughts? Simon

Small request for switch_ivr_record_file
by Christian Jensen 03 Oct '08

Could I possibly ask for a debug statement that indicates where the record file is recording to? I would really love the lenght of the file as well. Gracias! Maybe: http://fisheye.freeswitch.org/browse/FreeSWITCH/src/switch_ivr_play_say.c?r…

Force voicemail number in the standard voicemail greeting
by Mikael A. Bjerkeland 02 Oct '08

02 Oct '08

Is there a way to alter the number spelled out in the standard voicemail greeting? Instead of saying polycom501 which is the mailbox I'd like it to say 21650994 by setting a variable before calling voicemail. I found the voicemail_greeting_number variable, but setting it does not have the desired effect.

Inter-domain presence between profiles
by Mikael A. Bjerkeland 02 Oct '08

02 Oct '08

I see there were some changes to presence handling in FS, where two profiles can share the same presence information. One of the profiles apparently has to be configured with force-register-domain which breaks a multi-domain setup. Is presence not supposed to be shared between profiles and domains?

Send event from javascript?
by Johny Kadarisman 25 Sep '08

25 Sep '08

Hi, I am trying to fire a custom event from javascript, and found following code snippet: ===================== var msg = "Hello, welcome to the FreeSWITCH demo application please enter some text into the chat box"; e = new Event("custom", "message"); e.addBody(msg); session.sendEvent(e); ====================== But, i don't seems to receive the custom event on the event_socket side. Is this still a valid way to fire event from javascripts? I can't seem to find any ref except above snippet on wiki or mailing list. Best Regards, Johny K.

Adding Extensions, Gateways and Many More
by Zahid Maqbool 25 Sep '08

25 Sep '08

Hello Everyone, I have setup freeswitch with two soft phone and it all works great(Thanks to all the guys here for poining me to the right direction). Now I have some questions, I saw in one of the freeswitch web UI called wikipbx, where they are adding extensions and gateways through the user interface. I only could understand the screenshots, but couldnt understand the code as it was in python I guess. Now what I want to know is that, how can we add extensions through the console or xml-rpc etc? Specifically is there any such command for this, because I had an understanding that sip clients themselves register and get an extension. If no, how do they do it, any ideas how can I achieve that?? And finally how do we add gateways such as sipura, do they configiure themselves automatically or is there any way to do so? Finally, if I want free switch to tell my application about every request it gets such as register request etc, is this possible? Thanks a lot for your time and effort!!! -- Kind Regards, Zahid Maqbool

[freeswitch-dev] channel driver question
by jonathan augenstine 25 Sep '08

25 Sep '08

I have a question. I am working with a group that is developing some channel drivers for Asterisk. I have been asked to investigate what is involved in porting an Asterisk channel driver to Freeswitch. Are the Asterisk and Freeswitch channel drivers similar or are they distinctly different? Additional Audio Functionality
by Robert Clayton 24 Sep '08

24 Sep '08

All, I was attempting to use FS for dictation but need more audio functionality. I was wondering if you had any suggestion on where to patch the FS core for: 1) Pause during recording. (Pause a recording, listen to audio (prompts), then return to continue appending to the paused recorded stream.) 2) Seeking and repositioning the recording point on the stream currently being recorded. (Ex. Recording could be rewound, listened to, paused and continued from the pause point.) 3) On #2 appending is necessary where insertion would be a useful option. Thanks, Bob
