[Freeswitch-dev] Force voicemail number in the standard voicemail greeting
Is there a way to alter the number spelled out in the standard voicemail greeting? Instead of saying polycom501 which is the mailbox I'd like it to say 21650994 by setting a variable before calling voicemail. I found the voicemail_greeting_number variable, but setting it does not have the desired effect.
How do you have your user setup? /b On Oct 2, 2008, at 3:37 AM, Mikael A. Bjerkeland wrote:

Nothing special. mailbox = polycom501. What I could do is change the mailbox name to 4721650994 (E.164), but I'd rather be able to override the number spelled out in the greeting, since I want to say 21650994, not 4721650994. to., 02.10.2008 kl. 04.41 -0500, skrev Brian West:

Well its reading off the mailbox name so not having the mailbox called polycom501 would be a good start ;) /b On Oct 2, 2008, at 6:39 AM, Mikael A. Bjerkeland wrote:

I see your point, but a user shouldn't need to know about E.164. For consistency I want the mailbox names to be in E.164 format. Whenever someone calls voicemail they should hear the local format which is set from a channel variable. I can probably make a patch, but I need to know where in the code to change this. I've been looking through mod_voicemail.c but I'm not getting any smarter. to., 02.10.2008 kl. 09.27 -0500, skrev Brian West:

The mailbox name IS the field you want to set, set it to what you want it to say. On Oct 2, 2008, at 11:01 AM, Mikael A. Bjerkeland wrote:

You have to translate extensions to names and names to extensions. Let me think about this. /b On Oct 2, 2008, at 10:01 AM, Mikael A. Bjerkeland wrote:

The only point of the mailbox attr is to provide an alternate numeric id in case your regular id is non-numeric so <user id="polycom501" mailbox="1000"> or just the logical and simple and most gratifying: <user id="1000"> as for the other thing on latest trunk try setting the variable voicemail_alternate_greet_id either in the user object or in the dialplan to override which id the auto greeting reads back.
