Ideas for lecture
by Arnaldo de Moraes Pereira 11 Apr '08

11 Apr '08

Hello, I'll give a lecture, focusing on FreeSWITCH, as well as comparing it with other open source pbxes/switches/proxies. The talk will have a brief overall of the available software choices for the most common cases, but the main goal is to spread the word and show what this project is capable of. That'll happen in "Faculdade Impacta de Tecnologia" (Impacta college of Tecnology), which exports technology and teaching methodologies to some countries, etc. The contents of the talk aren't defined yet, I just told them the idea and it was very well welcomed. I would like to show the developers' perspective, as well as some real use cases, that's why I ask you guys to say whatever you think it's worth about those topics. There will be live examples of applications, I'd also be grateful receiving ideas for that. Thanks, Arnaldo

mod-java - initialization error

I have a mod-java script that is encountering an error on the latest version from svn. The script runs successfully on build: FreeSwitch Version 1.0.pre3 (7616M) When I retrieve the latest version from svn (8019) I get the following output from the console: 2008-04-04 02:03:15 [ERR] switch_cpp.cpp:146 getVariable() session is not initalized 2008-04-04 02:03:15 [ERR] switch_cpp.cpp:146 getVariable() session is not initalized 2008-04-04 02:03:15 [ERR] switch_cpp.cpp:153 execute() session is not initalized 2008-04-04 02:03:15 [DEBUG] switch_cpp.cpp:98 ~CoreSession() CoreSession::~CoreSession desctructor Java code that works on 7616 but fails on 8019: public void run(String sessionUuid, String args) { freeswitch.console_log("notice", "INBOUND UUID: " + sessionUuid + " ARGS: " + args + "\n"); JavaSession session = null; try { session = new JavaSession(sessionUuid); session.setAutoHangup(false); String raw_dnis = session.getVariable("originate_caller_id_number"); String raw_ani = session.getVariable("caller_id_number"); Has something changed on the Java module. Do I need any new additional initialization? Jonathan

preAnswer : API x JS

Hi, thanks for reply. Well, my problem is not really how to generate 180 or 183(early media) code. What I really want is to do my application to control the call flow. My application connects the FS using the mod_event_socket, port 8021. In this way, my application receives the leg A, read the channel variables, and generate an outgoing leg (B). When leg B rings (18x), my application must generate the 18x code to the leg A. When leg B answers, my application bridges the two legs in a call. This means that FS may not control the call flow. I was configured in the dialplan ({FSROOT}/conf/dialplan/default.xml) a rule to route any incomming call to the sleep application. Is the one way that I found to force the FS to do nothing on the call flow. I believe that the following msc shows my real needs. UAA UAB FS MYAPP | | | | 00|---------+-------->| | INVITE 01|<--------+---------| | 100 (trying) 02| | |-------->| EVENT CHANNEL A 03| | |<--------| ORIGINATE LEG B 04| |<--------| | INVITE 05| |-------->| | 100 (trying) 06| |-------->| | 180 or 183 (whatever) 07| | |-------->| EVENT CHANNEL B 08| | |<--------| GENERATE 18x TO LEG B (how do I do?) 09|<--------+---------| | 18x code 10| |-------->| | 200 OK (answer) 11| | |-------->| EVENT CHANNEL B 12| | |<--------| BRIDGE CHANNEL A WITH CHANNEL B 13|<--------+---------| | 200 OK (answer) Could you help me on this ? Best regards. Daniel. ======================================================= if you want to send a 180, use the ring_ready application. mod-java - playAndGetDigits() exception
by jonathan augenstine 09 Apr '08

Damjan, OK, the mod_java initialization problem is resolved in the latest version of the trunk. I am now back to the initial problem I was hoping this version would solve. When I call playAndGetDigits() it crashes Freeswitch. The console dump from the playAndGetDigits call to the crash is pasted below. What would you suggest is the next step to diagnose and fix this issue? Jonathan Freeswitch console output: 2008-04-04 22:39:50 [NOTICE] switch_cpp.cpp:509 console_log() playAndGetDigits called next!!! 2008-04-04 22:39:50 [DEBUG] switch_cpp.cpp:154 execute() preAnswer : API x JS
by Daniel Eli 09 Apr '08

09 Apr '08

Hi, first of all, congratulations to the FS team. I am trying to control FreeSwitch with a telnet client using the API. I can't find some way to pre-Answer (code 180) a channel in this interface, like the preAnswer method found in the session object. Another idea is calling an js script with the API, for example: bgapi jsrun preanswr.js ..., but there is another problem: the default session object is not created and I can't find how to get the session object from the uid of the channel (or from another channel variable). So, is there any way to get one session object from some channel variable ? Or, is there any way to pre-answer (generate the 180 code) the channel with the API ? Could you help me about that? Thanks in advance. Daniel. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

This is my e-mail without too big dump :-) Anthony Minessale napsal(a): > yes do you have both a pcap and a console trace of the call. > > start freeswitch with TPORT_LOG=1 > > TPORT_LOG=1 /usr/local/freeswitch/bin/freeswitch > > set debug level > > > console loglevel debug > > > capture all the text on the console > > Now I try current trunk and everything works as in previous version - bad :-) Scenario is very similar to the one a have described before. It is appended at the end of e-mail. Pcap dump is also included. And than I have two questions: 1. How to capture log from console? All I can copy is included, but it is only very small fragment. 2. I have never used IRC, could you recommend me some proven client? Now I'm on windows xp machine. Best regards, kokoska.rokoska --------------------------------------------------------------- SCENARIO DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------------------- User status: Users 21 and 22 are registered, user 22 not. Call flow: User 21 calls number 23, recieves back 181 and phone 22 starts ringing (Diversion header is properly appended). Than user 22 answers (sends 200 OK and recives ACK) and after short conversation hangs up. --------------------------------------------------------------- SIP 503 instead of 480 when fsctl pause
by Zelei Csaba 07 Apr '08

07 Apr '08

Hi all, Recently we had a scenario where a cisco router proxy calls to FS servers. If we issue fsctl pause (we would like to stop one of the proxy due to maintenance) then it send 480 SIP messages back to the cisco which hangup on the call. We tried it with 503 instead of 480 and in this case the cisco tried the next route. According to SIP rfc 480 used when "The callee's end system was contacted successfully but the callee is currently unavailable" while 503 used when "The server is temporarily unable to process the request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server" Wouldn't it be better to use 503 instead of 480 when the server is goind down for maintenance? Thanks in advance, Csaba Zelei

We use primarily use Aastra in our network. We have about 150 480i's deployed and 20-30 5(3,5,7,7i's) series deployed. Definitely different than the Snom in their general feel and overall usability but that is all relative to the user. Aastra's definitely have their issues. I find that reboots are often required to get them right. Plus the firmware fixes are slow coming from the Manufacture for the mean time to resolve/repair reported issues. On the upside I find them very easy to manage (although http provision puts snom and aastra on an equal playing field) and when we conducted our initial customer feedback surveys the Aastra's had a higher rating than the Snoms. Now if we could just get either to do BLA that would be the golden ticket in my mind lol :) "Brian West" <brian(a)freeswitch.org> wrote in message news:<95680F14-7FB9-4F44-A87C-8E04BA389C61(a)freeswitch.org>... > They seem a little cheap feeling to me... I wasn't aware of that...now we'll refine what I said and rather than "if we could" I'll say "if I could" and hope the other part of the "we" will help "I" understand how to do it :) LoL long day. Anyway, Brian when your feeling a bit better and have some time would you drop me a line. Just had some stuff I wanted to run by you.
