If the community steps up and assists on this front we can expand our target platforms to non-x86, ubuntu, and various others... We'll have the RPM based unstable repo soon too. Ken is wrapping that up soon. So anyone wanting to get involved please email us. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Help Keep The FreeSWITCH Project Moving Forward!
by Brian West 17 Jun '15

17 Jun '15

*FreeSWITCH* is currently celebrating its 10th year as a public open source project! As we continue to push the envelope of open source communication technologies we have started to expand our policies and tighten up our development practices. We have begun packaging *FreeSWITCH* for popular Linux Distros and are working on improved distribution for Mac and Windows as well. We are working hard to have more timely release schedules and separate development versions and current release versions. The harder we try to make these things possible, the more difficult the logistics become. We are calling out to our user base and our community to help in any way you can. *If your company uses FreeSWITCH, Here are the best ways to help:* 1) *Become a member of the Friends of FreeSWITCH:* As a project sponsor we’ll put your logo and information on our site and for a recurring monthly or quarterly contribution you can help us to improve the project by paying for maintenance positions for the community. 2) *Visit **FreeSWITCH.com* <http://freeswitch.com/>* and explore the commercial support options:* The funds we get from paid support also helps fund many aspects of the project. 3) *Donate any unused equipment or let us run a VM in your data center for mirrors:* We’re always looking for more build and dev servers. 4) *Allow your employees to contribute some of their resources to helping with the project maintenance a fixed number of hours a week:* If your employees spend a lot of time on *FreeSWITCH* anyway, let them work on the project as well. 5) *Sponsor the employment of a community member:* Hire them and allow them to work for us or donate the amount necessary for us to pay for someone. We currently are in need of some documenters, testing engineers and bug marshals and project managers. Thanks for your support and your involvement in the *FreeSWITCH* Project! Contact donations(a)freeswitch.org or Call +1-213-286-0400 to discuss how you can help. mod_verto dial-string changes in directory/default.xml does not work
by Bhavesh Soni 11 Jun '15

11 Jun '15

Hi, I'm trying to implement the changes explained in https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/mod_verto, to activate it. The part I don't understand fully is the dial-string changes, for example in the choice 1: Usage: ${verto_contact ${dialed_user}@${dialed_domain}}My first try was to use the second option: <param name="dial-string" value="{^^:sip_invite_domain=${dialed_domain}:presence_id=${dialed_user}@${dialed_domain}}${sofia_contact(*/${dialed_user}@${dialed_domain})}:${verto_contact ${dialed_user}@${dialed_domain}}"/> What I try was to call a local extension that is logged in using verto, but somehow is trying to look for it like if is a sofia user, of course it says that the user is not available. The above apporach of adding line in dial-string FAILS. I want to understand this line fully, mostly because of the flow that traverse this dial-string. I'd also try the last option of saying that a specific user is a verto user: <params> <param name="dial-string" value="${verto_contact ${dialed_user} <at> ${dialed_domain}}"/> </params> That works. But, I dont want to keep on adding dial-string line in every extension. Rather, just add this to directory/default.xml. Does anybody face same issue.

***NOTICE: FreeSWITCH File Distribution server slight path update.
by Ken Rice 15 May '15

15 May '15

Greetings FreeSWITCHers! Just a quick note, we¹ve done a little spring cleaning on http://files.freeswitch.org/ The root of the web server was getting a bit messy with all the old releases so we¹ve gone through and reorganized a little bit. FreeSWITCH Source Tarballs have been to http://files.freeswitch.org/releases/freeswitch and the sounds tarballs have been moved to http://files.freeswitch.org/releases/sounds/ There is a 301 redirect in place so all your old links to the sources will still work, but you¹ll want to update your scripts to bypass the 301 and look in the new locations. Have a Great Day! K -- Ken http://www.FreeSWITCH.org http://www.ClueCon.com http://www.OSTAG.org irc.freenode.net #freeswitch Twitter: @FreeSWITCH
