FreeSWITCH Book Has Arrived!
by Michael Collins 28 Jul '10

28 Jul '10

We are very pleased - and relieved - to announce that the FreeSWITCH book has officially been released! You may purchase it online here: https://www.packtpub.com/freeswitch-1-0-6-build-robust-high-performance-tel… There is an eBook special price of US$4.80 - take advantage of this price because we do not know how long it will be available. Tony, Darren, and I would like to thank everyone who proofread the text, offered feedback, and generally gave us encouragement when things got tough. Writing a book is quite an experience and we are better off for the experience. We learned a lot, to be sure, and we rediscovered what a supportive and enthusiastic community we have with FreeSWITCH. We appreciate your continued support of open source projects like FreeSWITCH and the open source telephony developer conference, ClueCon. Keep up the great work! -Michael S. Collins Co-author

Module for archiving all calls/conferences
by Farhan Husain 27 Jul '10

27 Jul '10

Hello guys, I want to record each call and conference that goes through FS and have the ability to later replay them. What is the best way to achieve this? Is there any existing module which can be used for this purpose with minor or no change? Should I write a module of my own from scratch? Thanks, Farhan

Howto stop or cancel a bridge
by Achim Stamm 26 Jul '10

26 Jul '10

Hello! I have following problem: I have bridged my current session to "user/1012(a)192.168.1.30" with timeout of 60 seconds. The call of bridge runs in a thread using modificated bgapi. The phone 1012 rings and i play a sound file to another phone with number 1010. Phone with 1010 wants to have the call. I want to stop or cancel the bridge to phone 1012 without hanging up my current session. Is there a core command to stop/cancel a bridge (like sending a message "Cancel bridge" or something else) ? With this stop/cancel a bridge command the phone 1012 should stop ringing, but my originator session should not hang up (see snippet of my DoingBridge -> @ToDo Cancel or Stop Bridge: ???????). Here is a snippet of my Dialplan: ----------------------------------------------------- <extension name="Externer-Anrufer"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^70$"> <action application="info"/> <action application="set" data="hangup_after_bridge=false"/> <action application="set" data="ignore_early_media=true"/> <action application="myapplication" data="DoingBridge"/> </condition> </extension> ------------------------------------------------------ Here is a snippet of my DoingBridge from myapplication: ------------------------------------------- static switch_status_t DoingBridge(switch_core_session_t *session, switch_input_args_t *args) { switch_codec_t codec = { 0 }; switch_status_t status; switch_frame_t *read_frame; switch_channel_t *channel = switch_core_session_get_channel(session); switch_core_session_t * PartnerSession = NULL; switch_core_session_t *sessionNebenstelle = NULL; switch_channel_t *channelNebenstelle = NULL; switch_stream_handle_t dstream = { 0 }; switch_stream_handle_t astream = { 0 }; if (switch_channel_pre_answer(channel) != SWITCH_STATUS_SUCCESS) { return SWITCH_STATUS_FALSE; } // Bridge to phone in a thread: SWITCH_STANDARD_STREAM(dstream); mybg_bridge("user/1012(a)192.168.1.30" ,60, session, &dstream); bool bNebenStelleAntwortet = switch_channel_test_flag(channel,CF_ANSWERED); const char * NebenStelle_uuid = NULL; while (! phone1010WantsCall && !BridgeAnsweredBy1012) { // PlayAudio File: switch_channel_state_t aktStatus = switch_channel_get_state(channel); NebenStelle_uuid = switch_channel_get_variable_partner(channel , "signal_bond"); bNebenStelleAntwortet = switch_channel_test_flag(channel,CF_ANSWERED); if (NebenStelle_uuid && !sessionNebenstelle) { sessionNebenstelle = switch_core_session_locate(NebenStelle_uuid); if (sessionNebenstelle) { channelNebenstelle = switch_core_session_get_channel(sessionNebenstelle); } } PlayAudioFile("1010"); } // Stop Playing: StopPlayingAudioFile(session); if (switch_channel_ready(channel)) { // sessionNebenstelle is 1012 if (sessionNebenstelle) { // @ToDo Cancel or Stop Bridge: // ????????????????????????????????????????????? answerSession(session); } } .... } --------------------------------------------------- regards Achim Stamm -- Achim Stamm, Dipl.-Inform. FS ODBC connections
by Juan Antonio Ibañez Santorum 22 Jul '10

22 Jul '10

Hello! I am working with a own module which accesses to a MySQL DB using core ODBC connections. For each query I call switch_cache_db_get_db_handle(&dbh, SCDB_TYPE_ODBC, &options) to get a DB handle and switch_cache_db_release_db_handle() for releasing it. I can see as FS opens one connection for each concurrent call but maintains them openned once hanged up. If you exceed higher number of concurrent calls in the past, new connections are openned. For example, doing 10 concurrent calls, 10 connections to MySQL are created. If you wait these 10 calls to end and make 5 new calls, FS seems to use 5 of the connections already open, FS does not open 5 new connections. Is that the way it must work? Must DB connections maintained openned once hanged up the calls? After some minutes, openned connections are closed but I can read by console "Error in my_thread_global_end(): XXX threads didn't exit" where XXX tells number of connections openned. Is there a real Error or may it be considered ok? I read It could be a problem with MySQL driver version but I tried to use newest (5.1.6) with the same result... Regards

Call For Assistance: Documenting FS and Icecast
by Michael Collins 18 Jul '10

18 Jul '10

FYI, I noticed that we don't have any information on the wiki on how to set up and use icecast2 with FS. Rupa mentioned in an earlier thread about using record or uuid_record to a shout://icecast_ip_addr:port/{uuid} syntax but I didn't get a chance to confirm the exact syntax. If you are using Icecast2 with FS please reply to this thread. I will be asking for your assistance with getting accurate how-to docs for using FS and Icecast. Thanks, Michael

two minor patches (build scripts & mod_logfile file perms)
by Mike Watters 14 Jul '10

14 Jul '10

First patch: The bootstrap script and the main makefile use "==" to test string equality, which doesn't work as-is on FreeBSD (where /bin/sh is not bash, "[" is not a shell builtin, and /bin/[ doesn't support using "=="). Second patch: Adds group-read flag to switch_file_open call in mod_logfile (0604 -> 0644).
