FreeSWITCH/Verto kicking ass, 61 simultaneous feeds
by Chad Phillips 30 Sep '16

30 Sep '16

Just finished a test where I got 61 simultaneous users into a FreeSWITCH videoconference via Chrome/mod_verto. Here’s a link to a youtube video of a portion of the test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0kgb1zNxMU Some stats for those interested: FreeSWITCH box: 61 simultaneous WebRTC video feeds via Chrome/Verto Conference configured to minimize outbound encoding 32 core Xeon E5-2650, 32GB RAM Load average seemed to peak around 16 Test users: 10 Headless Ubuntu test servers, 20 cores / 8GB RAM each Each box running 6 Chrome instances via Selenium The video quality was a tad blurry, not sure if that was something on my end or the muxing end of things. Also, I had to put the users in 12 at a time, as I’ve found that too many joining at once is causing websocket disconnects, not sure what the deal is there yet. Curious if anyone else is trying crazy stuff like this, or if I’ve just set some sort of record. :P

Static analysis tool Cppcheck discovered many errors in FreeSWITCH code
by Vladimir Mancic 08 Sep '16

08 Sep '16

Hi, Static analysis tool Cppcheck discovered many errors in FreeSWITCH v1.4 code (memory leaks, resource leaks, double frees,...): - memleak (76 occurances) - memleakOnRealloc (12 occurances) - resourceLeak (21 occurances) - doubleFree (more than 100 occurances) Is this known to the FreeSWITCH community, and has there been any work on it in more recent versions of FreeSWITCH? Thanks, Vladimir

Audio message to ring group losers
by John.Nowlin＠tresta.com 01 Sep '16

01 Sep '16

I have been asked to send an audio announcement to members of a ring group who lose the race to pick up the call. I have not found anything obvious in the documentation showing a hook or method to play such a message prior to hanging up on the b-leg losing members. I have tried a lua script capturing the onHangup event but it appears to happen after the hangup and the media does not play. My attempts at using transfer_after_bridge like wise did not appear to allow me to play a media file. So far my attempts at using the api_hangup_hook have been totally unsuccessful. I will admit to oldness concerning development and extreme noobness concerning freeswitch. Any assistance / examples would be appreciated. john nowlin Senior Software Developer Tresta office: 850.383.7756 mobile: 850.294.5635 www.tresta.com - A Better Phone Experience

Web socket and gRPC modules?
by Leonardo Lima Ribeiro 29 Aug '16

29 Aug '16

Hello guys! Is there any modules that we can use to make ASR using IBM Bluemix Watson Speech To Text (which accepts web sockets for streaming recognition) or Google Speech to Text API (which uses gRPC for streaming recognition)? If there are none, do you think it’s worth it to build them? I know the current standard way is to use unimrcp, but unfortunately I could not get good results for my business cases using Sphinx, and the good services appears to be pricey… Said that, I was thinking about build modules that allows us to easily integrate to Google STT and IBM Watson STT Apis, which are the most popular and accessible services... Thank you,

INVITE timeout
by huseyin kalyoncu 16 Aug '16

16 Aug '16

Hello, When using simple bridge application in a dialplan I am using leg_timeout which is default to 60 secs. If I set call_timeout Freeswitch sends 480 after exactly 120 secs. How can I increase this value? Is there any parameter for this? Or is this value hardcoded in the source code? If I have to change the source code to increase this value, which source code do I have to modify? I foud the following line in the sofia lib tree, NHP_SET(nhp, invite_timeout, 120); but I am not sure this is the correct parameter or not. Thanks, Huseyin

FS's string encoding - valid UTF-8?
by Michael Giagnocavo 04 Aug '16

04 Aug '16

Does FS enforce UTF-8 anywhere? I am writing a new interop module and need to know if handling non-UTF-8 char*s is a requirement. I'm thinking particularly from SIP messages and other external user inputs. In other words, if a FS ever receives a non-UTF-8 string from FS, is that automatically a bug in FS? Or considered within acceptable behaviour? Thanks, -Michael

mod_erlang_event "Failed to link to process" in FreeSWTCHS v1.6 when trying to subscribe to events
by Jyotshna Cherukuri 01 Jul '16

01 Jul '16

Hi All, I've been using mod_erlang_event module inbound mode with FS 1.2 and FS 1.4 to subscribe to events using register_event_handler and when I've upgraded to v1.6 I notice the following error in the logs . 2016-07-01 13:36:47.617330 [WARNING] ei_helpers.c:85 Failed to link to process on test@hostname I notice this is happening due to "switch_socket_send" API in ei_helpers.c thats been introduced as part of IPV6 support to mod_erlang_event module to FreeSWITCH . When I revert it to use prior version's "write", I don't see the error creeping up . I am planning to file a jira tciket with all the details but wanted to quickly check if any one knows how to fix this issue in V1.6 Thanks in advanceRegardsJyotshna
