Re: [Freeswitch-dev] Specs for 1000 channels streaming

I am just using pcmu codec cause that is what my VOIP termination service provides. Also I don't have actual bandwidth benchmark test numbers but it looks like it is about 80 kbps per channel one way which equals 80*2*1000 = 168 Mbps. I like to use sipp for testing it is a little hard to use but it gives you an idea what your servers can handle. As for voice quality it has some very minor skipping around 750-850 then around 1000-1100 it get major fast. So figure out what your server can handle then limit it to that if you need more channels add more freeswitch servers. I've found that when dealing with lots of channels be sure that kernel timer is not changing too much. For more info On Performance check out this page on the wiki http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Performance_testing_and_configurations Hope this information is helpful Thanks Craig Zimmerman -----Original Message----- From: freeswitch-dev-bounces(a)lists.freeswitch.org [mailto:freeswitch-dev-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] On Behalf Of freeswitch-dev-request(a)lists.freeswitch.org Sent: Wednesday, December 14, 2011 9:25 PM To: freeswitch-dev(a)lists.freeswitch.org Subject: FreeSWITCH-dev Digest, Vol 66, Issue 9 Send FreeSWITCH-dev mailing list submissions to freeswitch-dev(a)lists.freeswitch.org To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://lists.freeswitch.org/mailman/listinfo/freeswitch-dev or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to freeswitch-dev-request(a)lists.freeswitch.org You can reach the person managing the list at freeswitch-dev-owner(a)lists.freeswitch.org When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of FreeSWITCH-dev digest..."

I currently have production box that I tested for 1000 conferencing channels. Specs are: CPU: AMD Phenom X6 Hexa Core Processor Speed: 6 Processor Cores, 2.8 GHz (Turbo 3.3 GHz) RAM: 8GB DDR3 Hope this gives you an idea big you need to go. The More CPU & Bandwidth to the server the better! [Freeswitch-dev] Specs for 1000 channels streaming
by Jeff Ullman 14 Dec '11

14 Dec '11

Hi All, I'm about to buy new server for IVR type application where I might bump up system to use up to 1000 channels to do play/record type IVR application though event socket interface, and minor database lookups. I have been looking around Wiki and other posts but don't see any specific recommendations yet. I'm eyeing at following Dell spec : PowerEdge R610 Dual processor Intel® Xeon® E5606 2.13GHz, 8M Cache 12GB Memory WIll that be enough ? There are many questions - what's real bottleneck ? Is it CPU or memory or FreeSwitch can not utilize SMP, parallel execution etc.. ? I greatly appreciate if anyone can share experience and recommend better solution. - Jeff

[Freeswitch-dev] [Freeswitch-Developers] Media Bug on inbound stream
by jonathan augenstine 13 Dec '11

13 Dec '11

Is there anyway to hook a media bug so that it is only monitoring the inbound stream, but ignoring the outbound audio stream? I have a situation where a call is connected to Freeswitch and playing an IVR application. I would like to signal the application (using Lua) that the inbound audio stream has activity on it. [Freeswitch-dev] questions about of PRACK
by Seven Du 13 Dec '11

13 Dec '11

Hi, We are trying to interop with Huawei devices however, they have Require: PRACK, when I enable-100rel everything is ok but regard the following warning in sofia config: There are known issues (asserts and segfaults) when 100rel is enabled. It is not recommended to enable 100rel at this time. My questions are: 1) Is it fixed now? 2) If not, is there some work around in FS? e.g. pretend that we support PRACK but not actually send PRACK response? 3) besides contacting the sofia guys, is it possible to fix in FS tree? How much a bounty should be? Thanks. -- About: http://about.me/dujinfang Blog: http://www.dujinfang.com Proj: http://www.freeswitch.org.cn Sent with Sparrow (http://www.sparrowmailapp.com)

[Freeswitch-dev] Volunteers Wanted: CDR Help for opencdrrate.org
by Michael Collins 08 Dec '11

08 Dec '11

Hello all, I am working with Dean over at opencdrrate.org to help him get his project set up to work with FreeSWITCH. We would like to create a new cdr-csv template specifically for opencdrrate. I am looking for a few volunteers who can do a bit of research and testing based on Dean's input about what fields would constitute the ideal CDR layout. Please email me off list if you can assist. Thanks, Michael S Collins http://www.freeswitch.org http://www.cluecon.com http://www.ostag.org
