Ideas on improve Jira
by Seven Du 10 Aug '13

Hi, 0) If you submit a jira to Project "JIRA", it fails with: "Component/s" field is required and the project "JIRA" does not have any components. 1) Sometimes when submit a jira and cannot find an equivalent mod_ such as mod_scgi, should we add a new Option called "Not listed above" in the components selection? 2) Some of my friends who don't speak English but would like to submit a jira, would it be possible to add an Option "Chinese Questions" which can auto-assign to me and it allows submit a jira with Chinese description and I can comment with English and re-assign to the proper dev? Or maybe a new Project type of Issue Type? 3) To make 2) work, I need permissions to be able to re-assign. Thanks. -- Seven Du http://www.freeswitch.org.cn http://about.me/dujinfang http://www.dujinfang.com Sent with Sparrow (http://www.sparrowmailapp.com/?sig)

Odp: ClueCon 2013 - It's Not Too Late to Register!
by Mariusz Czulada 09 Aug '13

Hi all, I just wonder if it is possible/planned in future to have an european edition of cluecon? The trip to the USA is on some kinda complicated and / or expensive. But if you managed to get EuroClueCon, say, in the fall, it would be great. Is there a chance that failed to include in the next year? Regards, Mariusz

Recompile mod_opus for 8KHz sampling rate
by Dimosthenis Arkoudeas 05 Aug '13

05 Aug '13

Hi all, Playing with mod_opus came up with the following. I am trying to recompile the codec with 8Khz and 40ms ptime. I am not familiar with the codec internals and not really sure what parameters should I change... In mod_opus.c : Line 59: int bitrate_bps = codec->implementation->bits_per_second; int use_vbr = 1; int complexity = 10; int use_inbandfec = 1; int use_dtx = 1; int bandwidth = OPUS_BANDWIDTH_FULLBAND; int err; I suppose that the bandwidth must be changed to OPUS_BANDWIDTH_NARROWBAND and use_vbr=0 and I haven't found yet whether the FEC parameter is passed to opus encoder. And in Line 184 , I think the following parameters must be changed switch_codec_interface_t *codec_interface; int samples = 480; int bytes = 960; int mss = 10000; int x = 0; int rate = 48000; int bits = 32000; Can you propose any values about these parameters to achieve 8khz with 40ms packet time? Thanks for any help, Dimosthenis

two rtp questions - rtp debug and non block rtp read
by Seven Du 05 Aug '13

05 Aug '13

Hi, 1) when use switch_rtp without a session SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_DEBUG_RTP_READ complaining no session attached because it use SWITCH_CHANNEL_SESSION_LOG. Suggested fix: use SWITCH_CHANNEL_SESSION_LOG where possible and SWITCH_CHANNEL_LOG when no session. also, I think the following code is wrong because there's no rtp_session->session: if (!rtp_session->session) { rtp_session->flags[SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_DEBUG_RTP_READ] = 0; switch_log_printf(SWITCH_CHANNEL_SESSION_LOG(rtp_session->session), SWITCH_LOG_CRIT, "RTP HAS NO SESSION!\n"); } else { ... I can fix and push if confirmed. 2) switch_rtp_zerocopy_read_frame() blocks forever if no RTP comes. Anyway to make it non block? I tried the following code it blocks even with SWITCH_IO_FLAG_NOBLOCK. I tried the following code in mod_skel, I can make a diff if necessary. rtp_flag[SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_IO] = 1; rtp_flag[SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_AUTOADJ] = 1; rtp_flag[SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_DATAWAIT] = 0; rtp_flag[SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_VIDEO] = 1; rtp_flag[SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_NOBLOCK] = 1; rtp_flag[SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_AUTO_CNG] = 1; // rtp_flag[SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_DEBUG_RTP_READ] = 1; // rtp_flag[SWITCH_RTP_FLAG_DEBUG_RTP_WRITE] = 1; rtp_session = switch_rtp_new(IP, //local 50002, //recv port IP, 42000, //remote, doesn't matter for us, but can't be 0 96, // payload_type 1, 90000, rtp_flag, NULL, &err, pool); if (!rtp_session) { switch_log_printf(SWITCH_CHANNEL_LOG, SWITCH_LOG_ERROR, "RTP Error: %s\n", err); goto done; } while(!done) { // status = switch_rtp_zerocopy_read_frame(rtp_session, &read_frame, SWITCH_IO_FLAG_NOBLOCK); status = switch_rtp_zerocopy_read_frame(rtp_session, &read_frame, SWITCH_IO_FLAG_NONE); switch_log_printf(SWITCH_CHANNEL_LOG, SWITCH_LOG_INFO, "read %d\n", read_frame.packetlen); switch_yield(100000); } Thanks for help. -- Seven Du http://www.freeswitch.org.cn http://about.me/dujinfang http://www.dujinfang.com Sent with Sparrow (http://www.sparrowmailapp.com/?sig)

The big news from last week was announced on the weekly conference call<https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_07_24>: FreeSWITCH 1.2.12 was officially released<http://www.freeswitch.org/node/458>. This is now the recommended production release of FreeSWITCH. We also had a simple FreeSWITCH programming how-to on using channel variables with examples from mod_valet_parking<http://fisheye.freeswitch.org/changelog/freeswitch.git?cs=01d45ae506f50cdef…>and mod_voicemail<http://fisheye.freeswitch.org/changelog/freeswitch.git/?cs=13de330> . On this week's conference call<https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/FS_weekly_2013_07_31>we are glad to have with us long-time FreeSWITCH community member and code contributor Chris Rienzo. Chris has lots of experience with handling media for various applications, such as you'd use with mod_unimrcp<https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_unimrcp>. This week Chris will be discussing the theme "mod_spandsp - it's not just for faxing!" Mod_spandsp <https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_spandsp>makes use of the powerful SpanDSP library <http://www.soft-switch.org/> and Chris will show us some of the interesting things that this makes available for FreeSWITCH users. For those of you coming to ClueCon 2013 <http://www.cluecon.com>: we'll see you next week! We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again. If you haven't registered for ClueCon or booked your room yet then we highly recommend that you do so right away. We hope to see you all at the can't-miss event of the season!
