Re: [Freeswitch-docs] Confluence quirks
by Bote Man 11 Aug '14

11 Aug '14

Sorry, Jim. I just rolled back home from ClueCon so I've been out of the loop. I hope you asked this on the freeswitch-docs mailing list as the others might have ideas. Macros Yeah, I created the 'fc' macro as a shortcut. I have mixed feelings on the code styling. I really, really, REALLY do not get dark blue text on a black background; who in the world thought that would be a good idea? That's the friggin default for common elements shown by LS_COLORS on most linux distros and apparently Confluence uses it liberally. Go figure. Overall I'm trying to lend a consistent style so that Confluence looks like real documentation and not the mish-mash that the old MediaWiki became with everybody doing his own thing. if it looks good, do it. Editor Atlassian likes to crow about how reliable the Confluence editor is. Yeah, right. It frequently does weird stuff for me. My best advice is to get all the text onto the page first, then go back and style it. Moving tables and other macro elements around typically results in shenanigans. L I used Compare Versions successfully recently. It could be that it didn't have a proper earlier version to use as a datum for comparison, but that's just a guess. I'm digging out from under all these e-mails and whatnot that have piled up in my 2 week absence, so thanks for your efforts! Bote From: Jim Hayes [mailto:jhayes@jhayes.org] Sent: Thursday, 31 July, 2014 00:01 To: Bote Man; William King Subject: Quick check-in So I’ve been slowly working my way through the XML dialplan page, turning it into something that I would have liked to have read when I brought up my first system. Can you look at what I’ve done so far and make sure I’m not on the wrong track? Issues I’ve encountered so far: * The {fc macro doesn’t let me configure anything other than the “Caption”. So when I try to set it to emacs mode or turn on XML formatting (it really does make the code more readable, IMHO) I have to switch to the Confluence code macro, losing the Caption field. Which should I use? What are the benefits of the “Caption” field? * Mysteriously, all of my example text disappeared last night while I was messing with a table position in the middle of the doc. Seen that before? * The compare versions feature doesn’t seem to work for me. It either gives me an error or tells me that the compare process took more than 30 seconds. Is this a known issue? Anyway, I should be finished in a couple of days. It’s a long slog through that stuff. :-) -Jimbo

[Freeswitch-docs] Install pages
by Bote Man 24 Jul '14

24 Jul '14

I think I have finally hammered the Debian and CentOS 6 installation pages into submission. There was a legitimate complaint that, with only the link to the Makefile that Brian prepared, users who want to customize their build had to wait for the first "automagic" pass to complete, then edit the config, and build again. Now we present package instructions semi-automatic Makefile link manual build instructions, restored from history and improved in the edit process Hopefully this covers all the bases. Bote

Re: [Freeswitch-docs] Confluence sandbox account?

Come on down! The more, the merrier! Here's a rough style guide to get you started: https://confluence.freeswitch.org/display/FREESWITCH/Confluence+Wiki+Standa… They also set up a mailing list for just the Docs Team at: freeswitch-docs(a)lists.freeswitch.org I had the bright idea to generate a few diagrams that illustrate the call flow through the various Dialplan elements, so I can add those later unless you have a good idea about that. Thanks! [Freeswitch-docs] Opening discussion: Community
by Areski 30 Jun '14

Hi DocsTeam, I'm troubled by those 4 pages: - https://confluence.freeswitch.org/display/FREESWITCH/Community - https://confluence.freeswitch.org/display/FREESWITCH/Contributing - https://confluence.freeswitch.org/display/FREESWITCH/Developers - https://confluence.freeswitch.org/display/FREESWITCH/Reporting+Bugs especially by their current position in Confluence. I `personally` would like to see the following in the pagetree: Community + +----> Contributing (main page on contribute code/docs) | + | +-----> Reporting Bugs | | + | | +-----> Report issue checklist | | | +-----> Docs Team | | + | | +-----> all pages under Docs Team... | + | +-----> Bounty | | + | | +-----> Bounty list | | +-----> Bounty Completed | | | +-----> Using Git (merge Installing Git / Tips for using Git pages) | +----> MailingList | +----> IRC | +----> ClueCon Weekly Conference call | +----> ClueCon (new page to present Cluecon) Opinions / feedback / thoughts? -- Kind regards, /Areski ---- Arezqui Belaid, <areski(a)gmail.com> Founder at Star2Billing (www.star2billing.com) Tel: +34650784355 Twitter: http://twitter.com/areskib LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/areski

Re: [Freeswitch-docs] Confluence reorder problem
by Bote Man 19 Jun '14

19 Jun '14

It might be a mechanical problem of dragging and dropping? I notice that Confluence is finicky about where you drop the page, but it will take the button-down event to start the drag WHEREVER your mouse is pointing on the page in a horizontal zone that is inline with the page title. Easy to make a mistake I found out, and there is no undo function for page moves. If you drop the moved page on top of an existing page name, the page will move to be a child of the existing page. Otherwise it simply places the page in between the two existing pages where you drop it. I haven't had a case where the page refused to move. My best guess is that there might be some special permission that only allows the page creator to move it, but I doubt that exists. I think the user database and therefore permissions are still in flux.
