[Freeswitch-docs] Current Progress on Variables
by Ryan Harris 16 Feb '18

16 Feb '18

Hi team, It's not all that useful yet, but I've attached a report that contains all variables the FreeSWITCH gets, accounting for constants that were #defined in the source. There are about 50 that my script wasn't able to interpret as variables. Either the script didn't pick up the constant or it was actual code and not a string. The report also does not account for variables that FreeSWITCH sets. I will work on those later. The catalog right now has 638 variables while the attached report has 774.

[Freeswitch-docs] Variables Master List Prototype
by Ryan Harris 07 Feb '18

07 Feb '18

Hi list, Take a look: https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Variables+Master+List This page is a list of 266 variables. I think there are about 400 total, but this one covers all the variables on the Channel Variables page. Most notably, the variables are actually all individual pages. They are being included (using Confluence include macro) on to the Variables Master List page. Now that it's like this - there is a single source of truth - the specific page for the variable. This means we can have the flexibility of having different categories, module variables, and other references to variables - when the specific variable page is edited, all pages that include it will be udpated! What do you think?

[Freeswitch-docs] New Channel Variables Section
by Ryan Harris 06 Feb '18

06 Feb '18

Hi list, I've finished polishing the new Channel Variables section. I'll continue doing passes to make sure everything is okay. https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/_Channel+Variables A few things: 1. The new Channel Variables page has a child tree called Channel Variables Catalog that then has each variable category page. I'm not sure this is optimal UX. Maybe it's better to have the Channel Variables Catalog at the same level as the Channel Variables page. The fewer the clicks to get to this kind of information, the better. Thoughts? 2. Should I move forward with with the alphabetical list of variables? It would probably go great on the Channel Variables Catalog. 3. There is a mod_fifo variables that I have somewhat completed. Should I put this on the mod_fifo page? ry

[Freeswitch-docs] Request for comment on new channel variable catalog
by Ryan Harris 03 Feb '18

03 Feb '18

Hi list, I've mostly completed "normalizing" the channel variables section. On this page: https://freeswitch.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=7766277 DTMF Variables and all pages below show the new catalog. If there is _anything_ you think needs to be tweaked, please let me know. Everything can be changed with relative ease: page ordering, variable ordering, variable groups, formatting, datatypes, etc. Here are some things to look for: - check for correct data types -- we default to string when it's ambiguous/don't know - check for deprecated variables - I can mark them as such - check for variables not marked as readonly - I can mark them as such
