[Freeswitch-docs] Channel variables page
by Stanislav Sinyagin 29 Jan '18

29 Jan '18

hi, the channel variables page is getting extremely long and difficult to view and to edit. Maybe it makes sense to split it by modules? Whenever I need to check some variable, I search it in google and then click on the old wiki page :-)

Hi, We've been asked by packt to produce a 3rd book called "Mastering FreeSWITCH" Would anyone be interested in working on the authoring of that book and get their name in print? We need help with creating the content as well as formatting the text into the word templates they require etc. Please contact consulting(a)freeswitch.org if you are interested. -- Anthony Minessale II ♬ @anthmfs ♬ @FreeSWITCH ♬ ☞ http://freeswitch.org/ ☞ http://cluecon.com/ ☞ http://twitter.com/FreeSWITCH ☞ irc.freenode.net #freeswitch ☞ *http://freeswitch.org/g+ <http://freeswitch.org/g+>* ClueCon Weekly Development Call ☎ sip:888@conference.freeswitch.org ☎ +19193869900

[Freeswitch-docs] better documentation
by Mundkowsky, Robert 28 Dec '15

28 Dec '15

Hi, It is very difficult to use Freeswitch, because the documentation is very difficult to use. If the documentation was better you would have a lot more users. For example, in https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Sofia_Configuration_Files , I can read the whole page and I still do not understand fundamental things like: 1) What is a domain? 2) What is a profile? 3) What is a gateway? 4) How is a gateway different than a normal SIP end point? Simple definitions of key ideas and a structured top down descript would help a lot. And there is a lot of useless statements that one has to read through that does not help. For example, "The best thing to do is take a look at these things from a step back." Also it is common to explain what something is not, rather than explaining what it is first. [Freeswitch-docs] First draft of a "Howto write an endpoint module"
by Pat Beirne 28 Dec '15

28 Dec '15

Good morning. I have submitted a "New Endpoints" page to the confluence. It's located under the "New Modules", as it expands on that topic. Right now it's marked for confluence-editors and -devs. If anyone has a chance, I'd appreciate comments. If there's no comments in a weeks, I'll unlock it for public view. I had to add some anchors to "New Modules", I hope that's ok Italo. Pat

[Freeswitch-docs] Variables that seem to not be documented...
by Brian West 20 Nov '15

20 Nov '15

Neither of these variables are documented. video_mirror_input and video_use_dedicated_encoder Where these are most useful are when you have a lower rest endpoint needing to call into a conference and the video res on the output to the caller needs to match the input from the caller, think polycom VVX1500 or other such lower rest video phone. So setting video_mirror_input=true and video_use_dedicated_encoder=true would trigger the output to match the input of the video from the caller. Re: [Freeswitch-docs] Jitterbuffer
by Bote Man 20 Nov '15

20 Nov '15

OK, I just watched the Wednesday conference video during which Brian demonstrated the jitter buffer. I caught it live, but got in late. Does the new jb only apply to Opus with FEC turned on? Or all codecs that support FEC? Or all codecs, period? It would help me immensely if I had a list of current commands that are applicable to the jitter buffer, as Brian says that there are incorrect ones that need to be cleaned out. I’m only fair to middling at reading source code and figuring out what’s happening. I saw on the video he typed “1p” at the end of a jb command and a guy on the mailing list just offered a similar construct in a thread discussing the jb, which puzzled both of us. Thanks.
