by Areski 09 Oct '15

09 Oct '15

Hi Everyone, We are organizing an other Sprint to work on FreeSWITCH Documentation on Friday 2 October 2015 at 10am CT. It will be 4 hours long but you can join for less time. The Doc-sprint will focus on migrating the remaining pages from old FS Wiki (https://wiki.freeswitch.org) to Confluence ( https://freeswitch.org/confluence) We will use this IRC channel during the sprint: #freeswitch-docs and we will be tracking our work on a spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qsG-kRymvKlNBapnBLw86W130VdbnK6naYa… to avoid working on the same content. So during the sprint, please change the page ""Status"" you are working on to ""Editing"" with your name next to it. Some extra information: - https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Wiki+Migration - https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Contributing+Documenta… Let us know if you have any question. We hope to get a maximum number of people signed up! Confirmed so far: Italo (+7) Bote Areski Juan Iwada Anybody else want to join for the sprint? :) -- Kind regards, /Areski ---- Arezqui Belaid, <areski(a)gmail.com> Founder at Star2Billing (www.star2billing.com) Tel: +34650784355 Twitter: http://twitter.com/areskib LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/areski

[Freeswitch-docs] Some moves
by Pat Beirne 09 Oct '15

Good morning all, I moved a few more. The interesting one is "Abstraction Interfaces". This is really a guide for the core-development guys. But there isn't much in the confluence tree that addresses them. So I popped it under Community/ContributingCode/NewModules/AbstractionInterface for now, but I left it visible only to the core-dev group and us. Shall I create a top-level topic for "Development" or "Internals" or "FreeSWITCH-Core" or something along those lines? Pat

[Freeswitch-docs] Where do I place the new page?
by Juan Gabriel Ossa 07 Oct '15

07 Oct '15

Hi there. I'm finding myself stuck because I don't know here to place some pages when I'm moving them from the wiki to confluence. Is there a rule for that? For example I wanted to move https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Multi-line_rollover. How Can I tell the right place? Thanks Jossaqu

[Freeswitch-docs] Some help for a newbie pleae
by Pat Beirne 07 Oct '15

07 Oct '15

Good afternoon, I just joined last last week, and I've been moving some old-wiki stuff over. I spent some time last Friday on the sprint, and over the weekend I did more, so I'm up to about 40 pages. I have some questions before I go much further: 1) could somebody look at 2-3 of my moves and see if I'm doing it correctly? 2) I've been using {code for large blocks of external non-config code (such as Python, javascript or .xml) and I've been using {noformat for the short one-liners. The {noformat is black-text-on-white-rectangle and I think it looks better for short snips.....is that ok? 3) I've written a long-ish page about "how to write an endpoint" "New Endpoints" and it's a child under "New Modules". Could somebody please skim it and see if it's appropriate for this doc repository? It's written informally, with lots of 2nd person "you should" and "you can" phrases; I can clean that up if neeeded. Currently this page is visible to -doc and -dev members only. I hope to release it to the public in a day or so, but I'd like some feedback first. And ideally, if a -dev person could skim it and see if it's technically correct. Please. 4) There are lots of references to the source code, and I'd like to add hyperlinks to the source-api pages. I see that some other authors have managed to do that with crazy links like http://docs.freeswitch.org/structswitch__io__routines.html#2fac41d9629ee59a… where the anchor name is some kind of hash. Is there a way for me (as docs author) to find and use these anchor-ed links? Will the links change the next time the dev run Doxygen? Like I said, I'll hold off doing more bulk moves until I hear back on topic 1) above. And I'll keep that "New Endpoints" page hidden until I hear feedback on 3) above. Many thanks. -- Pat Beirne AppHostCanada

Re: [Freeswitch-docs] Freeswitch binary user and group

Choosing the daemon group made sense to me, but if others know a better group by all means change it. I discovered that FS must be started as root, then it quickly drops privileges. As to file owner and group, I’m not so sure. It’s probably best to carry out this discussion on the FS-docs mailing list where others can see it. Bote From: Niek Vlessert [mailto:niekvlessert@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, 01 October, 2015 07:01 To: Bote Man Subject: Freeswitch user and group Hello Bote, On the Freeswitch Confluence you are the one who changed the 1.6 installation page adding this: Because you most likely built FreeSWITCH™ as root you must now create the user 'freeswitch' in group 'daemon' and change the FS files to owner = freeswitch and group = daemon (to allow system services to interact with FS) and set the file mode appropriately I'm building some things to make it easier for people to get Freeswitch running after make install (Jira FS-7910 if you're interested). Now there is some discussion if the daemon group is the correct one or the freeswitch group. Could you shed some light on 'allow system services to interact with FS'? Thanks in advance, regards, Niek

[Freeswitch-docs] TLS1.2 in OS X

Forwarded for reference. Bote From: freeswitch-users-bounces(a)lists.freeswitch.org [mailto:freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] On Behalf Of Mario Sent: Wednesday, 30 September, 2015 12:56 To: FreeSWITCH Users Help Subject: Re: [Freeswitch-users] unable to clone master " git clone https://freeswitch.org/stash/scm/fs/freeswitch.git" Just to add to this topic…. Today I was going to do one last FreeSwitch build and test on OS X 10.6 and 10.7 to update the wiki before retiring those wiki pages. I could not git clone and I could not even access freeswitch.org. After research and seeing this thread I found TLS 1.2 is missing from not only 10.6 and 10.7 but also 10.8. After some research I found there is no way to add TLS 1.2 to 10.8 so I will be retiring that as well. So this makes my wiki updates a little easier!
