Documentation Sprint - Tomorrow (2nd October) 10am CT
Hi Everyone, We are organizing an other Sprint to work on FreeSWITCH Documentation on Friday 2 October 2015 at 10am CT. It will be 4 hours long but you can join for less time. The Doc-sprint will focus on migrating the remaining pages from old FS Wiki (https://wiki.freeswitch.org) to Confluence ( https://freeswitch.org/confluence). We will use this IRC channel during the sprint: #freeswitch-docs and we will be tracking our work on a spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qsG-kRymvKlNBapnBLw86W130VdbnK6naYap... to avoid working on the same content. So during the sprint, please change the page ""Status"" you are working on to ""Editing"" with your name next to it. Some extra information: - https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Wiki+Migration - https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Contributing+Documentat... Let us know if you have any question. We hope to get a maximum number of people signed up! Confirmed so far: Italo (+7) Bote Areski Juan Iwada Anybody else want to join for the sprint? :) -- Kind regards, /Areski ---- Arezqui Belaid, <areski@gmail.com> Founder at Star2Billing (www.star2billing.com) Tel: +34650784355 Twitter: http://twitter.com/areskib LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/areski
Areski, I have been focusing on only copying pages from the wiki to Confluence to move more rapidly to the time when the old wiki can be shut down. I mark the pages “Moved” to indicate that I just copied them with no editing, even if they need substantial editing. I’m afraid to mark it “Editing” because it might discourage others from starting to edit them, and we don’t want that J Of course, if somebody is actually editing the page to make it pretty, then please mark that page with status “Editing” in the spreadsheet. Thanks. Yes that's my understanding. a "Moved Page" needs further work, "Completed Page" is fully done and good to go, "Editing" means that someone is actually working on it at this right moment which is there to avoid 2 peoples working on the same page. Right now, 623 pages are pending and I'm sure tomorrow we will get a bunch of them moved. Thanks! On Thu, Oct 1, 2015 at 5:18 PM, Bote Man <bote_radio@botecomm.com> wrote:

Just an FYI I am updating the OS X pages extensively. Mostly reordering sections to make easier on confluence. Someone had mentioned they are deprecated, they are NOT. All the customization info is identical, only 1.6 prereq info is missing. A have been working on that for a month, if I can get more info I can complete. Will post back when they are done. Mario G
Mario, I thought you mentioned that older OS X versions did not have the security updates necessary to be useful to obtain and run modern FreeSWITCH versions? I think that is what was meant by "deprecated". I'm glad you are updating the Mac stuff since that was seeming to get outdated with all the changes that have been made to FS. Bote

Bote, The deprecated ones are in Mac OS X Archive. The non-Archive doc is not outdated and applies to any FreeSWITCH. However the 10.11, 10.10, 10.9 pages don’t yet include instructions for prereqs flite and libyuv, I have flite ready to document (thanks to Ken pointing me to the right URL). Michael plans to show me what magic he did to get libyuv (the oddball) on OS X since I have not been successful getting it to compile. Once that happens I will test everything and update those 3 pages, Also, I have some cleanup for the reorganization that I should finish in about a week, independent of the prereqs. BTW, I have been working on this for a couple of months (spinning my wheels), but made no progress until yesterday. Thanks Mario
