skypopen problem & X
by Ryanny Lin 24 Nov '10

24 Nov '10

Hi, all CentOS 5.4 Skype version: 2.0.0.72 Is anyone get the problem as below ? The problem looks like Xvfb problem or skype program??... These situations always are found at 04:02:xx (system crond !?). I'm trying to find out the problem. Here are three situations. The first two are different servers, but the same software version. When skype crashed, freeswitch restarts (I make it respawn automatically ). The last is Freeswitch *git-46a9fa3 2010-11-06 17-14-31 -0400. *Skype interfaces are removed automatically. *Version FreeSWITCH Version 1.0.head (e76d7d9|2010-07-13 19:05:07 -0400)* *Log message:* Using MySQL for CoreDB
by Ahmed Ajmal 24 Nov '10

24 Nov '10

Hi I have been struggling to setup CoreDB to use MySQL but no luck so far. Before that I was using an older version of ODBC connector which Freeswitch was able to connect to however wasn't able to make multi-line statements as they were not supported in that particular ODBC connector release, so I upgraded to mysql-connector-odbc-5.1.8 which solves the multi-line statement problem but now freeswitch is unable to connect to the db at startup heres what the console prints: 2010-11-24 08:46:26.006947 [INFO] switch_core_sqldb.c:1616 Opening DB 2010-11-24 08:46:26.011415 [CRIT] switch_odbc.c:210 The sql server is not responding for DSN fs [][188] 2010-11-24 08:46:26.011454 [INFO] switch_odbc.c:215 The connection has been re-established . and this goes on and on for a while after which the process terminates. Heres what my odbcinst and odbc files look like: Odbcinst.ini Description = ODBC for MySQL Driver = /usr/lib64/libmyodbc5.so Setup = /usr/lib64/libmyodbc3S.so UsageCount = 1 FileUsage = 1 Odbc.ini [fs] Driver = MySQL SERVER = 208.xx.xxx.xxx USER = fsuser PASSWORD = fsuser DATABASE = freeswitch PORT = 3306 Option = 67108864 I am on a 64 bit CentOS with FreeSWITCH Version 1.0.head (git-e828282 2010-11-24 06-07-21 +0000). MySQL Server version: 5.1.44-community MySQL Community Server (GPL). Thanks Ahmed

Aastra SIP-DECT and UNREGISTER from FreeSWITCH
by Helmut Kuper 24 Nov '10

24 Nov '10

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I installed today an Aastra SIP-DECT. It works so far pretty well. When I unregister a "portable part" (pp) (which is a handset) I found many of this syslog messages: Nov 4 17:12:47 omm: 0001986827 *** DSIP: [01|-1] Missing expires in REGISTER-2xx, assume 300 s Nov 4 17:12:47 omm: 0001986913 *** DSIP: [01|-1] Missing expires in REGISTER-2xx, assume 300 s Nov 4 17:12:48 omm: 0001987011 *** DSIP: [01|-1] Missing expires in REGISTER-2xx, assume 300 s The result is a (allways successful) unregistering loop done by the aastra base. The first REGISTER from aastra is replyed with 401 by FS. The 2nd REGISTER is replyed with 200 OK. The syslog messages tell me that the aastra dect base is looking for expires header in FS's SIP REGISTER 200 reply. But there is no such field in FS' response. I found this link (http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/sip/current/msg11313.html) where say say that an expires header is neccessary. The RFC 3261 seems to confirm that: "The registrar returns a 200 (OK) response. The response MUST contain Contact header field values enumerating all current bindings. Each Contact value MUST feature an "expires" parameter indicating its expiration interval chosen by the registrar. The response SHOULD include a Date header field." FS's 200 ok reply is this: SIP/2.0 200 OK Via: SIP/2.0/UDP aa.aa.aa.aa;branch=z9hG4bK-655180136fcd67 From: "PP 1" <sip:4919@bb.bb.bb.bb>;tag=f-1a3ec06907bcc23 To: "PP 1" <sip:4919@bb.bb.bb.bb>;tag=vQ7ZUS1aQHNye Call-ID: 1e19ff301a3ec04cd2c75a3@DSIP CSeq: 369236 REGISTER Contact: "PP 1" <sip:4919@aa.aa.aa.aa> Date: Thu, 04 Nov 2010 15:56:37 GMT User-Agent: FreeSWITCH-mod_sofia/1.0.head-git- Allow: INVITE, ACK, BYE, CANCEL, OPTIONS, MESSAGE, UPDATE, INFO, REGISTER, REFER, NOTIFY, PUBLISH, SUBSCRIBE Supported: timer, precondition, path, replaces Content-Length: 0 Is this a problem in aastra or in FS? Or is there a way do configure it in FS? What do you think? I use FS trunk. Unfortunately I can't get the revision number but it shouldn't be older than two months. regards helmut -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkzS5PUACgkQ4tZeNddg3dy6xQCcDXGus4NeLGkky1+Hy13W83dT mzQAniDgaydQfK+blJSWC/TdNPi+BF3c =yzsh -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Volume of DTMF tones
by Phillip Jones 24 Nov '10

24 Nov '10

Hi there, We received the following comment from a customer who is not able to use DTMF tones generated from FreeSWITCH. The call flow is PSTN ------> FS -----> PSTN i.e. simple call forwarding. The comment reads: "we had our phone system tech out yesterday. He tested the line and noted that when the forwarded (FreeSWITCH) line is forwarded the DTMF tones were weak. When our main line was called directly the DTMF tones were clear and strong. Perhaps by boosting the power during the forwarding process this can be rectified. I hope that helps. I am using start_dtmf_generate Is there a way of boosting the volume of the generated tones? Or just a better way to handle this situation? Thanks so much for any advice Pj

mod_lcr and LRN
by Avi Marcus 24 Nov '10

24 Nov '10

There's been some notice posted on the wiki page for the last two weekly conferences about LRN. mod_lcr currently has no support for LRN, nor do I know where to get a full database before the fact. I did have a few ideas for how to shoehorn LRN into mod_lcr without taking the whole thing apart, I put up some notes at: http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_lcr#LRN_Placeholder If those of you in the know could comment, that would be appreciated. -Avi Marcus

Call Recording and Injecting Tones in RTP
by Frank Park 24 Nov '10

24 Nov '10

Hey Guys, I wanted to offer call recording functions to callers and of course, the FCC has a law about that. Of the few acceptable forms of notification that the call is being recorded, one of them is an audible tone during the call. Is there a function to inject such an audible beep tone repeated at regular intervals during the course of the call? If not, any ideas where I can start working on this? RHEL 6 has launched. CentOS 6 is to follow soon
by Jeffrey Leung 23 Nov '10

23 Nov '10

Are there any FreeSwitch users out there who has their hands on the final bits of RHEL 6? As you may know Red Hat just released RHEL 6. RHEL 6 means CentOS 6 is going to follow suit in the matter of weeks... Any feedback on running FreeSwitch under RHEL 6 is greatly appreciated as from what I can tell, there are probably a few issues with a few modules with the Fedora 12/13 combination already.
