RHEL 6 has launched. CentOS 6 is to follow soon
Are there any FreeSwitch users out there who has their hands on the final bits of RHEL 6? As you may know Red Hat just released RHEL 6. RHEL 6 means CentOS 6 is going to follow suit in the matter of weeks... Any feedback on running FreeSwitch under RHEL 6 is greatly appreciated as from what I can tell, there are probably a few issues with a few modules with the Fedora 12/13 combination already.
The CentOS guys have already said not to hold your breath for a quick release of CentOS 6. Yes, it will be coming out sometime in the not too distant future, but going from 5 to 6 is much more work than going from say 5.4 to 5.5. That being said, if anyone has used RHEL 6 then by all means offer your feedback. -MC On Mon, Nov 22, 2010 at 11:01 PM, Jeffrey Leung <curriegrad2004@gmail.com>wrote:

As far as I'm concerned, I still am on 5.2 =D On Tue, Nov 23, 2010 at 1:17 AM, Michael Collins <msc@freeswitch.org> wrote:

So far, I've been running FreeSwitch under Fedora 13 which should be pretty close to RHEL 6 in terms of the kernel, compiler and the applications. So far there's 2 issues I can identify with RHEL 6: - mod_dingaling crashes because of libgnutls being broken. This is not the fault of the developers of FreeSwitch, blame the distro - Can't say for sure if this behavior from Fedora 12/13 applies to RHEL 6 - The included libcurl isn't going to compile properly with FreeSwitch, so most likely the --without-libcurl switch is going to be needed when FreeSwitch is going to be configured for a build under RHEL 6. Again, distro specific if I am right on this one here Those issues are distro specific, so it shouldn't apply to other Linux distros out there.
