Hi Mike, Oops, I haden't loaded a new version for a while. Let me know (announcement on the website is fine) when the jitterbuffer is implemented and I'll put 16k conferencing through some testing. beginner question #1: compile error mod_event_socket
by Winfred van Kuijk 29 Oct '06

Experimenting with FreeSwitch, so newbie questions ahead... ;-) Compiling on Mac OSX, used SVN to download today (Oct 29). Compilation works fine, except module: mod_event_socket. Is there a way to fix this? The error message: ... making event_handlers/mod_event_socket gcc -Werror -I/usr/local/freeswitch/include -DDARWIN -DSIGPROCMASK_SETS_THREAD_MASK -no-cpp-precomp -I/usr/local/freeswitch/include/apr-1 -I/usr/local/freeswitch/include/srtp -I/usr/local/freeswitch/include/apr-1 -DMACOSX -fPIC -Wall -I/usr/src/freeswitch/freeswitch.trunk/src/sqlite -I/usr/src/freeswitch/freeswitch.trunk -I/usr/src/freeswitch/freeswitch.trunk/src/include -I/usr/local/freeswitch/include -DSWITCH_MOD_DIR=/usr/local/freeswitch/mod -DSWITCH_PREFIX_DIR=/usr/local/freeswitch -DSWITCH_CONF_DIR=/usr/local/freeswitch/conf -DSWITCH_DB_DIR=/usr/local/freeswitch/db -DSWITCH_LOG_DIR=/usr/local/freeswitch/log -DSWITCH_SCRIPT_DIR=/usr/local/freeswitch/scripts -DSWITCH_HTDOCS_DIR=/usr/local/freeswitch/htdocs -fPIC -c mod_event_socket.c -o mod_event_socket.o cc1: warnings being treated as errors mod_event_socket.c: In function 'read_packet': mod_event_socket.c:329: warning: format '%d' expects type 'int', but argument 4 has type 'size_t' mod_event_socket.c:374: warning: format '%d' expects type 'int', but argument 4 has type 'switch_size_t' mod_event_socket.c: In function 'api_exec': mod_event_socket.c:434: warning: format '%d' expects type 'int', but argument 4 has type 'switch_size_t' make[1]: *** [mod_event_socket.dylib] Error 1 Thanks in advance!

beginner question #3: connect local client
by Winfred van Kuijk 29 Oct '06

29 Oct '06

Beginner question ahead, be gentle! ;-) Have not been able to find the answer in the documentation yet, which I thought (and still do) would be something quite simple. What do I put in freeswitch configuration file to connect using e.g. softphone? I would like to test using x-lite. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

beginner question #2: connect to SIP service / received garbage from...
by Winfred van Kuijk 29 Oct '06

29 Oct '06

Beginner question ahead... be gentle. ;-) I compiled FreeSwitch (except module mod_event_socket, see question #1), tried to connect to my SIP service provided by my ISP (xs4all). What I put in in freeswitch.xml: <configuration name="sofia.conf" description="sofia Endpoint"> <profiles> <profile name="XS4ALL"> <registrations> <registration name="xs4all"> <param name="register-scheme" value="Digest"/> <param name="register-realm" value=""/> <param name="register-username" value="08787....."/> <param name="register-password" value="....."/> <param name="register-from" value="sip:100@what_to_put_here?"/> [***note***: what should I put here?] <param name="register-to" value="sip:08787......@sip.xs4all.nl "/> <param name="register-proxy" value="sip:sip.xs4all.nl:5060"/> <param name="register-frequency" value="20"/> </registration> </registrations> .... So: what should I use for register-from? It does not seem to work this way, in the log file I see "received garbage" The log file shows: freeswitch(a)macserver.local> 2006-10-29 23:16:54 [NOTICE] switch_loadable_module.c:147 switch_loadable_module_process() Adding Timer 'soft' outbound(0x689090): detected NAT: my.ip.number != my.ip.number [***note***: my.ip.number shows my public IP address] 2006-10-29 23:16:54 [DEBUG] mod_sofia.c:4000 event_callback() event [nua_i_outbound] status [101][NAT detected] session: n/a 2006-10-29 23:16:54 [DEBUG] mod_sofia.c:4148 event_callback() nua_i_outbound: unknown event 8: 101 NAT detected 2006-10-29 23:16:54 [DEBUG] mod_sofia.c:4000 event_callback() event [nua_r_register] status [501][Third party not supported] session: n/a nta_agent: received garbage from udp/82.101.62.99:5060/sip [***note***: 82.101.62.99 = sip.xs4all.nl] nta_agent: received garbage from udp/82.101.62.99:5060/sip nta_agent: received garbage from udp/82.101.62.99:5060/sip nta_agent: received garbage from udp/82.101.62.99:5060/sip nta_agent: received garbage from udp/82.101.62.99:5060/sip 2006-10-29 23:17:05 [NOTICE] mod_sofia.c:4187 check_oreg() registering xs4all

test to 1234 is failing
by Alexei Archinov 28 Oct '06

Hello, Thank you very much for the suggestion to re-compile the project - it works. Now since it is installed and does not produce any errors on start up, I tried to call 1234 to test the switch. The attempt was not successful and the output is attached. As I see the problem is with mod_sofia configuration, while I did not make any changes to default one. The configuration I have is attached at the bottom as well. ________________________________________________ freeswitch@Archinov_IBM> pacall 1234 2006-10-28 13:38:11 [NOTICE] switch_channel.c:383 switch_channel_set_name() New Chan PortAudio/1234-3d6c [3204a213-c70b-b04a-8399-1a2d3f9dfe04] 2006-10-28 13:38:11 [INFO] mod_portaudio.c:793 engage_device() Loaded codec L16 8000hz 20ms on PortAudio/1234-3d6c 2006-10-28 13:38:11 [DEBUG] mod_portaudio.c:878 place_call() PortAudio/1234-3d6c State Change CS_NEW -> CS_INIT API CALL [pacall(1234)] output: SUCCESS:5:3204a213-c70b-b04a-8399-1a2d3f9dfe04 freeswitch@Archinov_IBM> 2006-10-28 13:38:11 [DEBUG] switch_core.c:2762 switch_c ore_session_run() (PortAudio/1234-3d6c) State INIT 2006-10-28 13:38:11 [DEBUG] mod_portaudio.c:185 channel_on_init() PortAudio/1234 -3d6c State Change CS_INIT -> CS_RING 2006-10-28 13:38:11 [DEBUG] switch_core.c:2798 switch_core_session_run() (PortAu dio/1234-3d6c) State RING 2006-10-28 13:38:11 [DEBUG] mod_portaudio.c:202 channel_on_ring() PortAudio/1234 -3d6c CHANNEL RING 2006-10-28 13:38:11 [DEBUG] switch_core.c:2463 switch_core_standard_on_ring() St andard RING PortAudio/1234-3d6c 2006-10-28 13:38:11 [INFO] mod_dialplan_xml.c:278 dialplan_hunt() Processing Fre eSwitch->1234! Problems running freeswitch under windows

Hello, I have tried to install and run freeswitch under windows and unfortunately was not able to do so. 1. Freeswitch consultant

I am looking for a consultant to work on a freeswitch project. Were currently running asterisk as our transcoding gateways to our SIP termination carriers like XO. We do this because some of the carriers only support 711 and we need other codec's. Were looking to move this over to freeswitch. Anyone interested please email me directly. Thanks John Bittner Simlab.net

Mohan: I'm relatively new to open source PBX, nevertheless, for the last three months I've been using asterisk (and reading whatever I can find: books, blogs, WWW pages, etc.) in my home. I think its very solid open source software thats backed by energetic competent conbributers. I'm astounded by the breadth of features. So, I'd love to know why anyone would go to the Herculean effort of creating an alternative open source PBX project. Is there a deficiency in asterisk? Or, is there some IP (Intellectual Property) that I'm not aware of? I'd love to hear your opinion. I have a bit of experience with Asterisk. You'll find my name on that list of competent contributors: http://svn.digium.com/view/asterisk/trunk/CREDITS?rev=45224 or outlined here: http://www.cluecon.com/anthm.html Hmm i'm still #3 on the asterisk bug tracker with only 1 patch in the last 12 months that is concidentally 12 months old. http://bugs.digium.com/karma_halloffame.php I have developed a clustered enterprise Asterisk platform to host 30,000 customers with 24,000,000 lines of configuration. (yes 24 million) I don't believe we have met, my name is Hercules. I guess the only question left is.... Why are you on our mailing list if you aren't interested? Have fun in dallas!
