Issue with Enterprise originate and 487 "ORIGINATOR_CANCEL".
by Jai Rangi 14 Jan '22

All, Running into a small issue with group calling, when the original caller hang up, phones dont show that call as missed call, cause of wrong reason code from freeswitch. Scenario: - Caller -> FS (Groupcall) to 101 and 102 - Phones ring - Caller hangup - Phones should see missed calls, - But free-switch send cancel with Reason: SIP;cause=200;text="Call completed elsewhere", where is should send Reason: SIP;cause=487;text="ORIGINATOR_CANCEL". Here is what my bridge data. bridge(<all_threads=true,absolute_codec_string=PCMU,PCMA,G729,group_confirm_file=playback /usr/local/freeswitch/sound/ivr/1443458342.wav,group_confirm_key=exec>{sip_cid_type=rpid,ignore_early_media=true,originate_timeout=30}[leg_timeout=20 ]user/101@192.168.5.50:_:[ignore_early_media=true,leg_timeout=20 ]user/ 102(a)192.168.5.50) If I send bridge(<all_threads=true,absolute_codec_string=PCMU,PCMA,G729,group_confirm_file=playback /usr/local/freeswitch/sound/ivr/1443458342.wav,group_confirm_key=exec>{sip_cid_type=rpid,ignore_early_media=true,originate_timeout=30}[leg_timeout=20 ]user/101(a)192.168.5.50 Everything works fine. I see some old posts but no resolution. Freeswitch version on Debian 8.9 FreeSWITCH (Version 1.6.16 git 3da6bd0 2017-04-07 16:49:13Z 64bit) Any idea or suggestion for workaround? Jai

Faxing with FreeSWITCH
by bruce＠sqls.net 16 Mar '21

16 Mar '21

Hello! I'm working on setting up a FreeSWITCH/Flowroute fax server. The server is connected without any nat on a 20MB fiber internet connection. I've built some lua scripts that allow me to receive and send faxes and log all the faxes to a sqlite database. I even have a management script that can be called from the fs_cli to add fax2email routes and adjust settings. It's still a pretty rough implementation but overall it's working fairly well but I have two main questions that I hope someone could help me with. 1) I would like to detect "voice calls" or maybe I want to detect fax calls? There's a dialplan function to listen for and detect a fax caller but I'm having trouble implementing it in my lua script. It seems it's a non-blocking function, maybe? Because it just walks right over that line instead of waiting and listening for any fax tones. I thought it would block the script for x seconds and listen for a fax tone and return a result based on what it found. Can someone help me accomplish something similar to that? 2) So far, by far... my most common error is "The call dropped prematurely". I'm not sure how to start debugging the error to figure out what's causing it and how (if I can) solve it. I do have pcap's of the calls from pcapsipdump and I also have the freeswitch log of each call (my lua script pulls and saves that for each fax call). I've opened the pcap files up in wireshark but I don't know what I'm looking for and I think that might be over my head at the moment. Can anyone give me any help on what this error is normally caused by or what I could look for and/or test? Here are a couple of example logs that ended with "The call dropped prematurely". http://bmts.us/faxlogs/FAX-2e913a50-3a4f-4abc-9882-a323a97e5138.log http://bmts.us/faxlogs/FAX-59d02d9d-c4ba-44c2-8edd-a1c9142c7c1c.log

Cron-like execution in FS
by Matthew Fong 10 Feb '21

I'm wondering if there's any features that allow the cron-like execution of code inside of Freeswitch, preferably with lua--or if I am stuck using the api interface and running the cron outside of freeswitch. --matt

Late Codec Negotiation between FreeSWITCH and Broadsoft equipment when responding to RE-INVITE without SDP
by Shaun Stokes 09 Sep '20

09 Sep '20

Hi All, We are using '3pcc-enable' to allow late codec negotiation where an INVITE (or RE-INVITE) does not include an SDP but have recently noticed unexpected behaviour on certain calls with Broadsoft equipment. The problem is on outbound calls from FreeSWITCH to BT IP Exchange which are handled by a 3rd Party using Cisco (previously Broadsoft) equipment, calls to the 3rd party that are routed to an IVR then to a hunt group (ACD) have the 'a=sendonly' attribute set in the SDP by the 3rd party (Broadsoft) which they expect us to remove in our 2xx response to a RE-INVITE with-out an SDP (from 3rd party) according to 'RFC 3261 section 14.2' as we "SHOULD construct the offer as if the UAS were making a brand new call" and "this means that it SHOULD include as many media formats and media types that the UA is willing to support", I've read into this further and find the interpretation to be somewhat ambiguous as there is a reference to 'RFC 3264 section 8' when an offer "updates an existing session" then "the offer MAY be identical to the last SDP" so technically both arguments are correct but unfortunately BT is siding with Broadsoft at this stage which is used by a variety of large service providers whom all agree on this interpretation. The 3rd party have also stated that this isn't a call going on hold as it's routing to an ACD group, according to 'RFC 6337 section 5.3' "the use of sendonly/recvonly is not limited to hold". It's not very well documented but I suspect setting 'sip_unhold_nosdp' in FreeSWITCH may resolve the problem as a workaround but this requires further testing. Should the default behaviour of FreeSWITCH be changed when '3pcc-enable' is used in this situation so FreeSWITCH creates a brand new SDP or are Broadsoft wrong and does 'RFC 3261 section 14.2' need to be updated and if so how? Thanks, Shaun

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Handle media of all calls via port 443?
by David P 09 Sep '20

I did: fs_cli -x 'fsctl shutdown elegant restart' but that still yields only the same candidate as before. Then I rebooted the vm (ec2), tried again, and there was still just one candidate of the same type as before. mod_portaudio on Raspberry Pi does not find connected audio devices
by Tazari, Mohammad Reza 07 Sep '20

07 Sep '20

Hi, here is a short summary of my configuration and issue: 1. Pi-4 with Raspbian buster and latest related FreeSwitch distribution, apt-upgraded and updated on last Friday 2. aplay is working both with the audio jack and with bluetooth (although not simultaneously: as soon as I have a bluetooth audio connection, the audio jack stops to work, and I cannot switch back to it with "amixer cset numid=3 1", but aplay can continue to use the bluetooth connection again after I issue "amixer cset numid=3 65536") 3. It seems that I do not have any permission issues as both of the users pi and freeswitch are in the audio group, which has rw access to the related devices under /dev/snd 4. I have already installed alsaoss, libasound2 and libasound2-dev 5. The output of "pa rescan" in fs_cli is the following: 2020-06-19 06:55:18.803478 [INFO] mod_portaudio.c:3186 Looking for new devices. 2020-06-19 06:55:18.803478 [INFO] mod_portaudio.c:2102 PortAudio version number = 1246720 PortAudio version text = 'PortAudio V19.6.0-devel, revision 396fe4b6699ae929d3a685b3ef8a7e97396139a4' 2020-06-19 06:55:18.943433 [DEBUG] mod_portaudio.c:1773 global indev [-1] 2020-06-19 06:55:18.943433 [ERR] mod_portaudio.c:1777 Cannot find an input device 2020-06-19 06:55:18.943433 [DEBUG] mod_portaudio.c:1786 global outdev [-1] 2020-06-19 06:55:18.943433 [ERR] mod_portaudio.c:1790 Cannot find an output device 2020-06-19 06:55:18.943433 [INFO] mod_portaudio.c:2125 Number of devices = 0 Any clue, what could be wrong on my side?
