Hi, Hope you're well and enjoying the multi-aspected season that is autumn. I certainly am. This may sound odd, but I've decided to have a HOLIDAY. I'm in Seville, attending WOMEX [http://www.womex.com/] Lots of world music to listen to, and networking things to do. Hooray! But before you potentially get jealous at the fact that I'm going away, know that rain and thunderstorms have been forecast for each of the days that I'm going to be there. So by the time I get back to reading your email on TUESDAY 31ST OCTOBER I might need some sun. As I'm technically going for work, I'll respond to some emails, but this is just a "heads-up" to let you know that I may not be able to do so. You could always amuse yourself in my absence by buying my album at http://www.artboo.com/coreymwamba/ if you like... Oh all right then. Thanks, Corey Mwamba ------------ http://www.coreymwamba.co.uk/

No sound in Google Talk
by Adam Coyne 21 Oct '06

21 Oct '06

I'm using a recent nightly source snapshot on Windows (svn rev 3134), and I have run into a problem. I enabled mod_dingaling and pointed it at my jabber.org account, and when I start Freeswitch I see that contact come online in Google Talk. But when I call that contact, no matter what action I specify in the dialplan, I don't hear any sound. I have tried using the playback, echo, and bridge actions. When I call the contact in Google Talk, I don't see any obvious problems in the console output, but I hear nothing. For example, with this action in my dialplan: <action application="playback" data="tada.gsm" /> I call the contact and am connected; it pauses for a few seconds, presumably while it plays the sound (and I hear nothing), and I am disconnected. Here are my config file and console output: http://adamcoyne.googlepages.com/freeswitchconfigfile http://adamcoyne.googlepages.com/freeswitchconsoleoutput With <action application="echo" />, I stay connected, but hear nothing. And when I click "End Call" in Google Talk, it repeatedly prints this message to the console until I shutdown: [DEBUG] mod_dingaling.c:515 terminate_session() Terminate called from line 1199 state=CS_LOOPBACK Any idea how I can break the silence? Thanks. -Adam

New release of POE::Filter:::FSSocket and enhancements in fsconsole.pl
by Paul Tinsley 21 Oct '06

21 Oct '06

Just wanted to drop a quick note and see if I could get some people to help me track down any bugs in the newest version of the module and or the console that was built as a way to test the functionality of the module. The module (v0.05) is available from cpan (cpan -i POE::Filter::FSSocket) and the fsconsole.pl script is in the Freeswitch repository under the /freeswitch/trunk/scripts/socket/ directory. The console now supports three windows, one for logs, one for events, and one for api responses with visual counters of "unread" messages in the windows that don't currently have focus.

mod_cdr related issues and notices
by Yossi Neiman 20 Oct '06

20 Oct '06

Hey everybody, I am not sure how many folks out there are using mod_cdr, but I hope at least some are. I've written an ODBC backend for it, but I have not yet committed it to trunk yet as I've not been able to test it yet (I lost two workstations from overheating nforce4 chipsets, so I won't be able to test until I receive the replacements from Asus). If anybody uses ODBC for other things, it would be great if somebody could work with me on testing it. Please hop by the irc channel or the dev conference and seek me out. Unfortunately we have no autoconf yet for mod_cdr, so it might require a little help from me to get it to build. Additionally, for those of you who have been using mod_cdr, please note that the item that was named "ani2" has been renamed to "aniii". The database schemas have been updated to match, as well as all the currently existing output backend classes. I will soon be resuming work on mod_cdr. Backends on my immediate list include SQLite and a more proper XML implementation. -- Yossi Neiman Cartis Solutions, Inc. - http://www.cartissolutions.com

Heads UP to devs and testers
by Anthony Minessale 20 Oct '06

Just FYI, I did a lot of changes lately to the code and the config. I reccommend you delete all the .db files in /usr/local/freeswitch/db to avoid a schema mismatch, just delete them they will be regenerated. It's reccommended you perodicly examine the default conf/freeswitch.xml in the source tree as it usually reflects new functionality and we try to keep it up to date with every possible config option. Also note that <interface> has become <profile> in dingaling. One last note, you will probably want to issue # make sure to guarentee all of your code is built up to date and no legacy object code is lying around in your way. Perl Curses Console
by Paul Tinsley 14 Oct '06

14 Oct '06

Hello all, I have put together the beginnings of a curses console written in perl using the POE::Filter::FSSocket module available on CPAN. I am interested in some feedback for what people are interested in seeing it do. Also want to know of any bugs. You can get a copy of the script here: http://jackhammer.org/fsconsole.pltxtand the latest CPAN module (it hasn't fully propogated on CPAN yet) here http://jackhammer.org/POE-Filter-FSSocket-0.04.tar.gz Currently the console is split into three windows, console for api responses, log for log events and event for freeswitch event output (currently in data dumper format). Here is the "splash" screen that comes up when you run the console which gives some cursory information about the console: Welcome to the FreeSWITCH POE Curses Console! The console is split into three windows: - 'console' for api response messages - 'log' for freeswitch log output (simply send the log level you want to start seeing events eg: 'log all') - 'event' for freeswitch event output (must subscribe in plain format eg: 'event plain all') To switch between windows type 'w <windowname' so 'w log' for example. Coming soon: - Tab completion - command history - window status in the bar (messages added since last view, etc...) Send any bug reports or comments to jackhammer(a)gmail.com Thanks, Paul
