Detecting remote device availability
by Klaus Teller 15 Sep '08

15 Sep '08

Hi, I vaguely recall an Asterisk feature that allows one to send a detection signal to check if the remote device is available (almost like ping). That is, if the remote device would actually ring when really dialed. Do you folks remember how this feature is called? How could i achieve the same with Freeswitch? thanks, Klaus. -- GMX startet ShortView.de. Hier findest Du Leute mit Deinen Interessen! LumenVox Speech Starter Kit
by Klaus Teller 15 Sep '08

15 Sep '08

Hi Folks, Do you by any chance know if the Digium Lumenvox Starter Kit (store.digium.com/productview.php?product_code=8ASTLUMSTART) works with Freeswitch? Apparently i'm not clever enough to find out where to buy a license (or even register as customer) directly from the Lumenvox site. symbian s60 SIP over TLS
by R. Eric Bennett 14 Sep '08

14 Sep '08

folks, i'm wondering if anyone here has actually managed to get SIP over TLS working from a symbian s60 phone to FreeSWITCH. i've been trying for some time with an e71 and while i've made some progress, progress != success. in fact, i've progressed to the point where the failure is known to not be specific to FreeSWITCH's implementation. however, having used the certificates generated by FreeSWITCH's gentls_cert script with openssh s_server's builtin simple web server while having my e71's browser connect to it, i can say that the failure mode is same (we send cert, e71 replies with "illegal parameter") whether we are running SIP or HTTP over SSL/TLS. as such, it could still be a result of the certs generated by the FS scripts. to eliminate one obvious potential cause, note that i have installed the FreeSWITCH CA cert on the e71 so it shouldn't be a self-signed cert problem. this leaves me thinking that the problem is either an openssl problem (there appear to have been some interoperability issues between SSL implementations as a result of e.g. padding SSL PDUs) or a limitation in the feature set of the symbian s60 TLS implementation, specifically limitations on the types of server certs it'll accept. before exhausting more energy trying to track this down, i was hoping that someone out there may have solved this problem or at least know exactly what the problem is i can stop banging my head against the wall. anyone? anyone? Bueller? thanks, eric

Does anyone have any examples for mod_perl? I'm looking to do more than spew forth an XML dialplan, I want to actually interact with the call. There's little if anything of use for this on the Wiki http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_perl Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Karl J. Vesterling kjv(a)ken-ton.com 202-448-3009 x0

Using mod_shout with local_stream
by benholtsclaw 14 Sep '08

14 Sep '08

Brian, earlier this evneing in irc, you recommended I use local_stream to dispense an Internet shoutcast stream to all of my callers. How do I set up a shoutcast stream in local_stream.conf? I've tried just referencing the shoutcast url in the path attribute of a directory element, but that doesn't seem to work. Can you point me in the right direction? (BTW, this is my first post to the list using the nabble interface. I apologize in advance if something blows up.) -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Using-mod_shout-with-local_stream-tp19467857p19467857… Sent from the Freeswitch-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

getting callback everytime
by Gayatri Kulkarni 14 Sep '08

14 Sep '08

Hi, Is it correct behaviour that whenever i invoke any command from console like: orginate A B or uuid_bridge <uuid of A> <uuid of B> where A and B are extensions registered through X-lite to FS, I get a callback on both even if A/B is already off hook? so if A is single channel (having only 1 call appearance), it will return a USER_BUSY ?? Is there a way to avoid this? -- I want to merge the line on which A is already off hook with the session that begins with "originate A B" Is there a way to merge 2 calls? -- Regards, Gayatri Kulkarni

GSG update: NAT
by Michael S Collins 14 Sep '08

14 Sep '08

Guys, The getting started guide still refers to the NAT SIP profile. I believe that NAT got rolled into the external profile. Could someone: A) confirm if this is true and B) confirm whether NAT on the external profile uses port 5080 or 5070? I will update the gsg accordingly unless someone beats me to the punch. -MC Sent from my iPhone
