Hi FreeSWITCH Help, As we step into 2026, I wanted to personally reach out and wish you a very Happy New Year. I’m grateful for the connections we’ve built and the conversations we’ve shared, whether we worked closely or simply stayed in touch. I hope the new year brings you clarity, growth, good health, and momentum - both professionally and personally. We’re stepping into the year with renewed energy, sharper focus, and a strong commitment to building things that truly add value. Thank you for being part of our journey in some way. SBC not responding to syn
by Adiseshu Channasamudhram 10 Oct '25

10 Oct '25

Hello Freeswitch experts ! I have a new setup as below and it is not responding to any syn request --------a-FS SBC-b—----------------External SBC In the above setup, the b side of the sbc has two IPs - one of them is a public IP External SBC is sending syn request to interface b and to the public IP and I can see this in the tcpdump on the FS SBC but I dont see the FS-SBC responding. When I do netstat, I do see the freeswitch listening on that IP and port. All the firewall stuff on the vm has been disabled Acl is updated on the fs. Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated Regards A

AUDIO not Working from VOIP.MS
by Sean Devoy 28 Oct '24

28 Oct '24

Hi, I have a variety of phone devices in different locations that have been connected to my FS server working great for YEARS. We switched from VoipInnovations to Voip.MS. I have triple checked the configuration matches the FreeSwitch article for VoipMS. I immediately started getting INTERMITTENT one-way-audio. The only change is FS was the new external gateway and routing path for outbound calls. I have switched one location to connect directly to VOIPMS with their CISCO phones. We get the same problem. Occasionally a call works fine. Other times it is one-way IN, others it is one-way OUT. HELP!!!! Regards, Sean

Retiring the FreeSWITCH Mailing List
by Brian West 15 Mar '23

15 Mar '23

FreeSWITCHERS, Today’s the day, folks. For those of you that aren’t sure what’s happening, we’re retiring the FreeSWITCH mailing list after 15 years in service. You can check out the announcement here <https://lists.freeswitch.org/pipermail/freeswitch-users/2023-January/136131…> for more context. Everything historical on the mailing list will continue to be available via the existing links and search functionality. I wanted to take this final message to thank you all for your continued involvement and support of the FreeSWITCH community and confirm that this is the only change we’re making. Read on for more resources and where to get involved or get help. If you’re following the FreeSWITCH newsletter <https://mailchi.mp/freeswitch.com/newsletter>, you’ve probably already seen we’re hosting a PR Review Day <https://mailchi.mp/freeswitch/pr-review-day> coming up next week. If you have an open issue or PR you want to discuss, sign up and come talk with the team! We’ll be hosting another in April, so look out for that as well. Our direct replacement for the mailing list is a community forum. To join the new forum, visit forum.signalwire.community - it uses SSO from your free SignalWire account, which allows us to be more lenient with moderation because we've got an assumed level of trust, and also reduces the overall level of spam in the forums. We've got the forum set so you can view without an account, so check it out with no obligation. If you’d like to receive updates via email, you can set that up in your user preferences on the forum with the steps in this guide <https://forum.signalwire.community/t/how-to-receive-forum-replies-via-email…>. You can reply to forum topics via email, and you can even start new topics by emailing <https://forum.signalwire.community/t/welcome-to-posting-via-email/343>. Also note the digest/summary emails will stop sending if you don’t log into the forum every 180 days, but if you follow the steps in the guide above for watching topics you will not need to login to refresh that timer. Not interested in the forum, but still looking for community spaces? You’re welcome to join our Community Slack <https://slack.signalwire.community/>, join the subreddit <https://www.reddit.com/r/freeswitch/>, or attend our Office Hours <https://mailchi.mp/freeswitch.org/office-hours>. So long, and thanks for all the fish! /b -- Brian West | Co-founder and Developer Need Commercial support? email sales(a)freeswitch.com Email: brian(a)freeswitch.com

http_prefetch does not work with parameter profile
by Peiffer Eric 01 Mar '23

01 Mar '23

Hi I used the mod_http_cache modul in order to manage a cache of audio files. I have a new profile in the http_cache.conf.xml: <profiles> <profile name="swift"> <default> <header name="Authorization">Bearer eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJSUzI1NiJ9.eyJjb3Vu...g</header> </default> </profile> </profiles> In fs_cli when I call http_get {profile=swift]http://xx.xx.xx.xx:pppp/audio.mp3 (xx.xx.xx.xx ip and pppp the port of our swift web server) The profile "swift" is well used in order to add the header Authorization into the GET HTTP request, and the audio file is well added to the cache. But if I used the http_prefetch the command failed: freeswitch@fs1> http_prefetch {profile=swift}http://xx.xx.xx.xx:pppp/acdc.mp3 +OK 2023-03-01 09:38:34.351425 99.70% [DEBUG] mod_http_cache.c:659 Locked cache 2023-03-01 09:38:34.351425 99.70% [INFO] mod_http_cache.c:751 Cache MISS: size = 15 (70 MB), hit ratio = 4/20 2023-03-01 09:38:34.351425 99.70% [DEBUG] mod_http_cache.c:816 Adding {profile=swift}http://xx.xx.xx.xx:pppp/audio.mp3(/var/cache/freeswitch/15/2a01eb-0e9a-4988-a7e3-40c80c1c9c52.mp3) to cache index 15 2023-03-01 09:38:34.351425 99.70% [DEBUG] mod_http_cache.c:670 Unlocked cache 2023-03-01 09:38:34.351425 99.70% [DEBUG] mod_http_cache.c:1126 opening /var/cache/freeswitch/15/2a01eb-0e9a-4988-a7e3-40c80c1c9c52.mp3 for URL cache 2023-03-01 09:38:34.351425 99.70% [ERR] mod_http_cache.c:1187 Received curl error 3 HTTP error code 0 trying to fetch {profile=swift}http://xx.xx.xx.xx:pppp/audio.mp3 2023-03-01 09:38:34.351425 99.70% [DEBUG] mod_http_cache.c:659 Locked cache 2023-03-01 09:38:34.351425 99.70% [INFO] mod_http_cache.c:773 Failed to download URL {profile=swift}http://xx.xx.xx.xx:pppp/audio.mp3 2023-03-01 09:38:34.351425 99.70% [DEBUG] mod_http_cache.c:670 Unlocked cache When I read the mod_http_cache.c source code in the http_cache_prefetch function it seems that the parameter prefetch is added to the command without checking if other parameters are added: url = switch_mprintf("{prefetch=true}%s", cmd); this result of a bad url: {prefetch=true}{profile=swift}http://xx.xx.xx.xx:pppp/audio.mp3, and maybe this is why curl return an error. How can i use http_prefetch with a profile? Thanks Eric.

Retiring the FreeSWITCH Mailing list
by Brian West 07 Feb '23

07 Feb '23

FreeSWITCHers, Most of you already know me, but for anyone that doesn’t - I’m one of the founders of FreeSWITCH, and I’m the primary administrator for the mailing list. This mailing list has served the community well for almost 15 years now. As the mailing list has grown continuously larger and been stretched to the limits of its capabilities, it has been running into bigger issues. Especially in the last year, we’ve seen numerous issues that prevent people from joining and participating – bounces, unintended unsubscribes, spam filtering, and more. We didn’t want to shut down the mailing list without having a replacement set up, and a forum was the obvious choice – the community has been requesting a proper forum for years now. In addition to being more easily accessible and searchable, we hope the forum will simply be a better experience for everyone using it compared to the mailing list. If you’d like to receive updates via email, you can set that up in your user preferences on the forum. You can even reply to forum topics via email, though you’ll need to visit the forum to start a new topic (top level post). Also note the digest/summary emails will stop sending if you don’t log into the site periodically: currently you need to log in every 180 days. If you want to continue using the mailing list until we sunset it, you’re welcome to do so. We’ve disabled new sign ups as of today, and we’ll formally stop supporting it as of March 15, 2023. This should give everyone plenty of time to set up in our other community spaces. Thanks, /b -- Brian West | Co-founder and Developer Email: brian(a)freeswitch.com

Video setup
by Tihomir Culjaga 12 Jan '23

12 Jan '23

hi freeswitch people, im wondering what is the best setup for video calls (not video conference) with video call recording on freeswitch ? What modules do you use, what codecs do you use and what app for recording do you use nowdays? options are for codecs and formats: - mod_vpx: VP8/VP9 (wondering what is the CPU impact when you reach some traffic volumes) - mod_av: H264 (can it do H265 at all?) for recording: - record_session (what format should i put in there ? mp4, webm, raw...) - mod_fsv (i guess this is obsolete .. is it ?)
