Updated mod_python example
by Devin Fee 05 Sep '14

05 Sep '14

I found this (https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Examples_directory_py) example code for using mod_python to be quite poor. Some credit goes to the fact it's from 2008. I decided to take this code update it, improve it, and learn how FreeSWITCH works in the process. Here's the code that's simplified, improved, and meets PEP8. The only "feature" that was not ported over was the `checkforgreeting` function. Implementing a DB connection should be easy enough, though.

<application="set" data="call_timeout=5"/> VS {call_timeout=15}
by Phillip Jones 05 Sep '14

Hi there, I am testing carrier failover via the dialplan. Can anyone tell why me the following two dial plans act differently? In my mind they are the same so I am flummoxed. <extension name="treatment_followme_route"> <condition field="${Treatment}" expression="^SEQUENTIAL$"/> <condition field="${ForwardingNumber}" expression="^100"> <action application="set" data="ignore_early_media=true"/> <action application="set" data="continue_on_fail=true"/> *<action application="set" data="call_timeout=5"/>* <action application="bridge" data="user/1001|user/1001"/> *<action application="set" data="call_timeout=20"/>* <action application="bridge" data="user/1002|user/1002"/> ... </condition> </extension> VERUS: <extension name="treatment_followme_route"> <condition field="${Treatment}" expression="^SEQUENTIAL$"/> <condition field="${ForwardingNumber}" expression="^100"> <action application="set" data="ignore_early_media=true"/> <action application="set" data="continue_on_fail=true"/> <action application="bridge" data="*{call_timeout=5}*user/1001|user/1001"/> <action application="bridge" data="*{call_timeout=20* }user/1002|user/1002"/> .. </condition> </extension> First dial plan will dial user 1001 *once* followed by 1002 *once *- which is correct for my purposes Second will dial user 1001 *twice *followed by 1002 *twice* Why would {call_timeout=15} change the nature of that bridge and <action application="set" data="call_timeout=5"/> not? Thanks Phil

Split Channels in FreeTDM
by Mahesh Katta 05 Sep '14

05 Sep '14

Hi, I am using single span Digium E1 card, and configured with mod_freetdm. I have configured 31 channels in single group its working well, but I have to split channels for Inbound & outbound. For example I need to use 1-15 channels for only Inbound and 17-31 channels for outbound trunk. How can I define this in freetdm.conf file, is it possible to split this channels or is there any other way to do for the same. my configuration: freetdm.conf [general] cpu_monitor => no cpu_monitoring_interval => 1000 cpu_set_alarm_threshold => 80 cpu_clear_alarm_threshold => 70 cpu_alarm_action => warn,reject ;cpu_alarm_action => warn debugdtmf_directory=/var/log/freeswitch/fsdtmf [span zt FreeTDM1] group => g0 name => tdm1 number => 1 trunk_type => E1 b-channel => 1-15 d-channel => 16 b-channel => 17-31 debugdtmf => yes rxgain => 4.0 txgain => 6.0 freetdm.conf.xml <span name="FreeTDM1"> <param name="node" value="cpe"/> <param name="switch" value="euroisdn"/> <param name="opts" value="omit_redirecting_number"/> <param name="dp" value="unknown"/> <param name="debug" value="none"/> <param name="idle_restart_interval" value="0"/>  <param name="dialplan" value="XML"/> <param name="context" value="public"/> </span> -- Best Regards, Katta.

Outbound calling using originate
by Malay Thakershi 04 Sep '14

04 Sep '14

Hello, I use originate to make outbound calls. originate {origination_caller_id_name='CH calling',origination_caller_id_number=1XXXXXXXXXX,origination_uuid=XXXXXXXX,absolute_codec_string=PCMU,ignore_early_media=true,originate_timeout=45,}sofia/gateway/chsbc01/1XXXXXXXXXX 1056 XML default I would like people to hear a couple of rings before they hear the first voice prompt. Would increasing originate_timeout value allow users longer to answer (thus delaying going to VM)? Thanks. In public.xml dial plan: <extension name="provider-inbound"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^XXXXXXXXXX|XXXXXXXXXX$"> <action application="pre_answer" /> <action application="sleep" data="1000" /> <action application="transfer" data="1056 XML default" /> </condition> </extension> In default.xml dial plan: <extension name="CHPhone"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^1056$">  <action application="set" data="RECORD_TITLE=Recording ${destination_number} ${caller_id_number} ${strftime(%Y-%m-%d %H:%M)}"/> <action application="set" data="RECORD_COPYRIGHT=(c) 1980 Factory Records, Inc."/> <action application="set" data="RECORD_SOFTWARE=FreeSWITCH"/> <action application="set" data="RECORD_ARTIST=CH"/> <action application="set" data="RECORD_COMMENT=CH call record"/> <action application="set" data="RECORD_DATE=${strftime(%Y-%m-%d %H:%M)}"/> <action application="set" data="RECORD_STEREO=true"/> <action application="record_session" data="$${base_dir}/recordings/${strftime(%Y-%m-%d-%H-%M-%S)}_${destination_number}_${caller_id_number}.wav"/> <action application="set" data="ringback=${us-ring}"/> <action application="set" data="recording_follow_transfer=true"/> <action application="sleep" data="2000" /> <action application="managed" data="clsAsmtApp" /> </condition> </extension>

Compile errors 600+
by Andre 04 Sep '14

04 Sep '14

HI, I just downloaded the last master and when I go to compile it I am getting over 600 errors. I'm wondering if a reswig is needed? I know I should open a ticket but I was hoping someone could fix this real fast.. Visual studio 2012 Error 536 error C2894: templates cannot be declared to have 'C' linkage C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\VC\include\xtr1common 208 1 mod_managed Error 564 error C2894: templates cannot be declared to have 'C' linkage C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\VC\include\xtgmath.h 74 1 mod_managed

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Mod_Shout - Padding mp3 stream with 1s of empty audio
by Keith Laaks 04 Sep '14

04 Sep '14

HI, I suspect this has to do with the addition of Stereo Support to mod_shout around June. This only happens when one uses "<param name="rate" value="48000²/>² in local_stream.conf.xml I think the padding being added is actually less than the "1s of empty audio² - because the largest value passed to memset¹ in mod_shout.c can be 64K. Adding stereo halved the original pad duration. So with a 64Kbuffer @ 48000 (2 bytes per sample and Stereo), I think you only get 0.3 seconds of buffer¹, which is just not enough for the streaming to keep up reliably and therefor the repeated gaps¹. Change it to "<param name="rate" value=³32000²/>² and the issue goes away as it then gives 0.5 seconds of buffer (which was 1 second before stereo). -- Keith

mod_curl setting content type header
by Jeff Stark 04 Sep '14

04 Sep '14

Hi, Is there a way to set the Content-Type header when using mod_curl in a Lua script? Using curl on the command line I can do the following: curl -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Accept: application/json" -X POST -d '{"field1":"val1","field2":"val2"}' http://mydomain.com/ And in a Lua script I can do the following: local my_json = "{\"field1\":\"val1\",\"field2\":\"val2\"}" api = freeswitch.API() response_data = api:execute("curl", "http://mydomain.com/ post" .. my_json) But I don't see a way in the freeswitch API to set the Content-Type header in the above script. Appreciate any help or insight that can be offered. Thanks. Jeff
