Some question about mod_fifo ??
by Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng 29 Mar '10

Hi all. I am newbegin and have 2 question as follow 1. Can config mod_fifo with member in external register ??? In my lab, i have OpenSIP as Proxy server and Register server and Freeswitch as media server config mod_fifo (queue) ------------------- --------------------- - opensips - - freeswitch - 8000 - - 8000 - - ---- ->- proxy server - ---------> - media server - -register sv - - queue 8000 - - - - - -------------------- --------------------- ^ | | 1010@opensips_IP User with extension 1010 is registerd with OpenSIPS server, queue 8000 is media service in freeswitch server. Can i config mod_fifo in freeswitch with member in Opensips server ? I try config in /fifo.conf.xml like <member timeout="15" simo="1" lag="5">{fifo_member_wait=nowait}user/1010@opensips_IP</member> but it not work. Someone done this with opensips or another register server, please post some guide. 2. With mod_fifo: caller_id_name and caller_id_number will be replated by default config: origination_caller_id_name=Queue,origination_caller_id_number='fifo+test_fifo'. So, if caller_id_number is 0123456.. it will be replates wit 'fifo+test_fifo'. I want origination_caller_id_number has value is 0123456.. Thank for help.

FreeSWITCH Mailing List - Why not a forum?
by Ben Langfeld 29 Mar '10

Hey guys, I've not used mailing lists much in the past, and this is the first one i've used that has been this busy. After having been subscribed to the list for about a month now (and even on digest mode) i've been having my inbox crammed with list emails. Many of the threads are informative and interesting, but some are not at all relevant to me. This has led me to wonder, what is the reason behind using a list like this in preference to a more structured forum? The separation, better search facilities, greater granularity in subscriptions, etc all sound like compelling reasons for a switch to my mind. I presume, however, that there is a reason for sticking with mailman and i'm interested to discover what that is. Regards, Ben Langfeld Wave > Email

Call Park issue
by Joseph L. Casale 28 Mar '10

I just tried the call park based on the recent thread using the two blocks from http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Misc._Dialplan_Tools_valet_park#Valet_Autos… and sometimes it works as expected, and sometimes the caller that parks the call gets the MOH when they try to unpark the call when dialing the ext of the call they parked? Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks, jlc

Big conferences
by David Knell 28 Mar '10

Hi - I've seen the odd query on the list about building and scaling large audio conferences. Given that most callers will be listen-only, it's possible to scale up by transmitting a single RTP stream to multiple callers. Here's some proof-of-concept code, which roughly halves the CPU usage for a 200-user (plus one speaker) conference, written in that highest of performance languages, Perl: http://www.softivr.com/wiki/index.php/HP_Conferencing --Dave

Re: [Freeswitch-users] FreeSWITCH Mailing List - Why not a forum?

There may be a forum, but such a thing cannot be expected to succeed if there's competition with an already established list. Such a thing would have to replace the mailing list to succeed. I believe this would help the FreeSWITCH effort amongst newer users and lead to much faster growth. The barrier to entry of a mailing list is a tad too high for some since it presents an impression, justified or not, that the list is where the elite hang out and is off-limits for newbies, whereas with a tidier forum setup that would allow for a "Newbies Corner" might avoid this. Mailing lists are showing their age these days - as demonstrated by the difficulty in responding to this on digest mode - I have to strip away every other thread first. I'm convinced that a full shift to newer, better organised and more friendly technology would only be a good thing for the FreeSWITCH project. Does anyone agree, or am I out on my own on this one?
