Can't register with Linksys SPA 3000
by Henk Oegema 29 Jun '08

29 Jun '08

I have been using Linksys SPA 3000 with an Asterisk server with following configuration: Line1: -------- Proxy and registration - Proxy: 192.168.1.100 (asterisk server) Register: YES Subscriber information - Display Name:1000 User ID:1000 Password: my_password When (trying) to register with FS, my settings are Line1: -------- Proxy and registration - Proxy: 192.168.1.101 (FS server) Register: YES Subscriber information - Display Name:1000 User ID:1000 Password: 1234 But.....registration always fails. I've not been able to find out why. When I try to register with a softphone (SJphone) with the same User ID (1000) and a Password (1234) then NO problem. Grds. Henk

New user here.. I just installed trixswitch 0.4 when I go to the address of the machine 192.168.1.100 it goes to the apache 2 test page instead of going to the trixswitch gui. Is this normal? If so how do I get to the programing gui? thanks tim

On-Hold takes 5 seconds
by mayamatakeshi 27 Jun '08

27 Jun '08

Hello, I'm playing with FreeSwitch svn revision 8849. When I try to put an established call on hold (I'm using eyebeam), FreeSwitch takes 5 seconds to reply with 200 OK. This would not be a big problem by itself, but it seems this OnHold processing blocks the reply for all other incoming calls (or SIP calls at least). As an example, below are the timestamps of a call to 9998 from the time the INVITE ONHOLD was sent and of a new call to 9997 (which itself caused eyebeam to put 9998 on hold) till the reception of 200OK. You will see the 200 OK for the 9997 call will only happen after 200 OK for 9998 REINVITE for ONHOLD is transmmited (9998 and 9987 are the test numbers from default.xml dialplan. I copied them to public.xml so that I would not be bothered with authentication messages during this test): 09:52:40.6 SENDING TO: 192.168.128.3:5080 INVITE sip:mod_sofia@192.168.128.3:5080;transport=udp SIP/2.0 To: <sip:9998@freeswitch>;tag=ZpggZ9jgp01tj From: 1001 <sip:1001@freeswitch>;tag=5a0b7d40 a=sendonly 09:52:40.6 RECEIVING FROM: 192.168.128.3:5080 SIP/2.0 100 Trying From: 1001 <sip:1001@freeswitch>;tag=5a0b7d40 To: <sip:9998@freeswitch>;tag=ZpggZ9jgp01tj 09:52:41.4 SENDING TO: 192.168.128.3:5080 INVITE sip:9997@freeswitch SIP/2.0 To: <sip:9997@freeswitch> From: 1001<sip:1001@freeswitch>;tag=226ba00e a=sendrecv 09:52:41.5 RECEIVING FROM: 192.168.128.3:5080 SIP/2.0 100 Trying From: 1001 <sip:1001@freeswitch>;tag=226ba00e To: <sip:9997@freeswitch> 09:52:45.6 RECEIVING FROM: 192.168.128.3:5080 SIP/2.0 200 OK From: 1001 <sip:1001@freeswitch>;tag=5a0b7d40 To: <sip:9998@freeswitch>;tag=ZpggZ9jgp01tj a=sendrecv 09:52:45.6 SENDING TO: 192.168.128.3:5080 ACK sip:mod_sofia@192.168.128.3:5080;transport=udp SIP/2.0 To: <sip:9998@freeswitch>;tag=ZpggZ9jgp01tj From: 1001 <sip:1001@freeswitch>;tag=5a0b7d40 09:52:45.7 RECEIVING FROM: 192.168.128.3:5080 SIP/2.0 200 OK From: 1001 <sip:1001@freeswitch>;tag=226ba00e To: <sip:9997@freeswitch>;tag=0Z98043KK9QDe a=sendrecv I also tried to initiate a call with another softphone (SIP Communicator) while eyebeam was putting its call on hold and the same thing happened. On the other hand INVITE OFFHOLD is replied instantly. Regards, takeshi

FS User Directories and YAML
by Daniel Hefti 27 Jun '08

27 Jun '08

On a some-what related level with YAML. I know that user directory XML files and what-not XML files can be retrieved in multiple ways (using curl or ldap for the dialplan), but is there a way that we can retrieve such information from a different source like using the included sqlite db or some other db as a source? (My initial guess at the answer to this is 'no', but I thought I'd ask.) Is the ldap module only useful for retrieving dialplan info for use with the directory-based-dialplan? Specifically, can a module be created to supply user directory info (so other sources can be used)? (Like my first initial guess, I would guess this is a 'no' also, but likewise.) With relation to YAML, rather than adding support for a specific type of file structure, a generic way of retrieving data via modules would likely be a bit more useful than, say, adding YAML support internally. Granted, the base file format would likely stay XML for FS's own freeswitch.xml file and any related files, but being able to access module-related configuration files and the directory information in other formats using self-created 'parser/db modules' or some-such regardless of the module would be a really nice touch. -Dan

voicemail callerid info and effective_callerid_name
by Rupa Schomaker 27 Jun '08

27 Jun '08

My freeswitch does uses a local database lookup to override incoming callerid by setting the effective_callerid_name information before bridging the call. If the call goes to voicemail, the real callerid is used for the email and voicemail metadata. This is confusing since the recipient gets presented with two different set of callerid information. The one that is from the database lookup and the one that the telco sends. -Rupa

one way voice

Hello, cant solve problem with one way voice. I have 2 Addpac 1005 and FS with SIP. When one side call other, initiator hear voice, other side not. When I debug udp on Addpac, rtp stream is one way. Not nat or other network issues between points. How can i find source of troubles? Caller ID in Java
by Klaus Teller 27 Jun '08

27 Jun '08

Hi, i got two questions: 1) How can i get the caller ID in Java? In javascript this is accessible through session.caller_id_num. 2) Considere the following application declaration: <action application="java" data="org.delta.MyApp"/> I noticed that the class MyApp will be instantiated for each incoming call. Is there anyway to tell FS to reuse the same object? Or alternately is there a way to store an object (e.g. database connections) at the FS or VM level and reuse it accross different instances of MyApp? Thanks, Klaus L'Imbecile. -- Psssst! Key System Emulation
by Matt Darnell 27 Jun '08

27 Jun '08

It seems like Freeswitch is a real player in the PC based PBX space. I think the first product in this space that can emulate a key system will take over the space in very short time. Metaswitch, Broadsoft, etc have shared line appearances but none of the smaller systems have it. It must be hard to do, or everyone would be doing it. If Freeswitch could offer the kind of functionality it would take over: A call would come in, via SIP, Zaptel, etc. User answers the call User puts it on hold That line appearance blinks on all the phones Any user presses the button to get the call It would be OK if it only worked with Polycom, or Linksys, or Snom,etc...as long as it worked _every_ time. -Matt

Java Support
by Klaus Teller 27 Jun '08

27 Jun '08

Hi Folks, Questions regading Java (not Javascript): 1) How do I originate a call? I tried somethis as following without success: JavaSession session2= new JavaSession(); session2.originate(null,"sofia/gateway/did.voip.les.net/14163442000"); The error messgae I get is that session2 is not initialized. Any idea? 2) Assuming I have two legs session1 and session2. Bridging them would be done with freeswitch.birdge(session1, session2) is that correct? I coudln't test this since I'm not able to create session2. Quick Observations: 1) The wiki says that Java 1.6 would cause FS to crash. But, actually the current Java 1.6 works just fine while the current Java 1.5 (update 15) causes the FS to crash. 2) Whatever path to Java is specified when building FS, when starting it, it will look for Java at: /usr/java/jdk1.6.0/jre. Looking forward to your feedback. Klaus L'Imbecile. -- Ist Ihr Browser Vista-kompatibel? Jetzt die neuesten Browser-Versionen downloaden: http://www.gmx.net/de/go/browser
