Re: [Freeswitch-users] Performance
by Keith 24 Feb '14

Hi all, I have a very high spec server, dual quad core with 16GB RAM but I am having some performance issues with Freeswitch. I am using SIPP to load test version 1.22 but only getting 200 or so calls then I get RTP issues. I managed to get better results by using the latest GIT release, up to about 1000 calls, but I would still expect more? I am using Centos 6.3 but I was wondering if anyone had any pointers to where I can trace the problem. I have followed the guide on the wiki but not really helping. Many thanks, Keith

mod_mongo is up for adoption... anyone using it?
by Brian West 24 Feb '14

Would like to engage someone in the community that actively uses mod_mongo to help maintain the module. http://jira.freeswitch.org/browse/FS-4534 Any takers? -- Brian West brian(a)freeswitch.org FreeSWITCH Solutions, LLC PO BOX 2531 Brookfield, WI 53008-2531 Twitter: @FreeSWITCH , @briankwest http://www.freeswitchbook.com http://www.freeswitchcookbook.com T: +1.918.420.9001 | F: +1.918.420.9002 | M: +1.918.424.WEST iNUM: +883 5100 1420 9001 ISN: 410*543 Skype:briankwest PGP Key: http://www.bkw.org/key.txt (AB93356707C76CED)

FreeBSD/OpenBSD
by Brian West 24 Feb '14

24 Feb '14

FreeSWITCHers, Mike Jerris spent a little time to get FreeBSD 10 and OpenBSD 5.4 working in the build system, I have NetBSD somewhat working… Mike will be looking at that sometime soon. Anyone wishing to Adopt an OS, please let me know, This requires you to build the OS fairly regularly and feedback bugs and/or patches back to help keep these platforms building. I would also be open to building a complete OS/Distro supported/status matrix, If anyone wishes to discuss this please let me know, Travis Cross and I have been talking about the possibility of doing more bug hunt calls weekly and do so in varying hours to give everyone around the globe a better chance to attend. I want to stress you do not have to be a coder to attend these bug hunt meetings, you can interact and help update documentation on the wiki while we work on fixing issues we aren’t shy and will answer any and all questions to help make our docs more complete. Thoughts? Thanks, -- Brian West brian(a)freeswitch.org FreeSWITCH Solutions, LLC PO BOX 2531 Brookfield, WI 53008-2531 Twitter: @FreeSWITCH , @briankwest http://www.freeswitchbook.com http://www.freeswitchcookbook.com T: +1.918.420.9001 | F: +1.918.420.9002 | M: +1.918.424.WEST iNUM: +883 5100 1420 9001 ISN: 410*543 Skype:briankwest PGP Key: http://www.bkw.org/key.txt (AB93356707C76CED)

DragonFly and NetBSD progress
by Brian West 24 Feb '14

24 Feb '14

DragonFly works with one small issue left in sqlite in tree due to linking, Which I can link by hand and have it work, I’ll work with Mike tomorrow and I’m sure we’ll fix it. As it stands the standard module list can compile and startup fine on DragonFly, I’ve not made it that far on NetBSD. ;) Anyone wanna adopt one of these platforms I’ve worked on today please email me. ;) -- Brian West brian(a)freeswitch.org FreeSWITCH Solutions, LLC PO BOX 2531 Brookfield, WI 53008-2531 Twitter: @FreeSWITCH , @briankwest http://www.freeswitchbook.com http://www.freeswitchcookbook.com T: +1.918.420.9001 | F: +1.918.420.9002 | M: +1.918.424.WEST iNUM: +883 5100 1420 9001 ISN: 410*543 Skype:briankwest PGP Key: http://www.bkw.org/key.txt (AB93356707C76CED)

JIRA Issues that have been closed as No Response
by Brian West 24 Feb '14

24 Feb '14

FreeSWITCHers, If I’ve closed out a JIRA that hasn’t been responded to in quite sometime and it was yours and the issue still exists here is what you need to do: 1. Re-test, 2. If the problem still exists on MASTER please provide more details and data. 3. Reopen the issue, 4. Attach information. If you have other questions or concerns about my manic steam roll thru JIRA please hunt me down on IRC (bkw_) ;) Thanks, -- Brian West brian(a)freeswitch.org FreeSWITCH Solutions, LLC PO BOX 2531 Brookfield, WI 53008-2531 Twitter: @FreeSWITCH , @briankwest http://www.freeswitchbook.com http://www.freeswitchcookbook.com T: +1.918.420.9001 | F: +1.918.420.9002 | M: +1.918.424.WEST iNUM: +883 5100 1420 9001 ISN: 410*543 Skype:briankwest PGP Key: http://www.bkw.org/key.txt (AB93356707C76CED)

Codec negotiation to avoid transcoding as much as possible
by Biswas, Dipak 23 Feb '14

23 Feb '14

Hi All, Is there a way to configure Freeswitch codec negotiation to be neither of 'generous', 'greedy' or 'scrooge', but keep the possibilities of needing transcoding open. This is what I'm seeing with 'generous' codec negotiation (greedy and scrooge is no different): inbound leg offer (opus, pcmu, g729) --> FS --> outbound leg offer (opus, pcmu) inbound leg answer (opus) <-- FS (transcoding engaged) <-- outbound leg answer (pcmu) But, I want FS to not to do transcoding here as there is a way out as both caller and called party has pcmu in common. If FS can follow this, there is no transcoding needed on FS's part: inbound leg offer (opus, pcmu, g729) --> FS --> outbound leg offer (opus, pcmu) inbound leg answer (pcmu) <-- FS <-- outbound leg answer (pcmu) Question is how can I configure FS to be 'accomodat'-ing (yes, i wish this codec negotiation option is available). Please share your insights. -- Thanks, Dipak
