uuid_setvar prefixing
by Callum Guy 08 Jan '14

08 Jan '14

Hi All, When using inbound ESL method uuid_setvar I understand the variables will get prefixed with "variable_" such that... uuid_setvar chan123456 MyVar MyVal ...reports in the next event as: [variable_MyVar] => MyVal My issue is that i'm building an event based system that stores custom channel data using this operation and i don't want user entered variable names overwriting exiting channel data. I am counteracting the above concern by simply adding my own prefix to all set/get operations but I am still interested in finding out the significance of these variables and if its only FreeSWITCH modules (i.e. "playback_terminators" for playback application) that populate those in the "variable_" list or if these are used deeper in the core as well? Any further information would be really useful, thanks, Callum ______________________________ Callum Guy Developer X-on Framlingham Technology Centre Station Road, Framlingham, Suffolk, IP13 9EZ T 0333 332 0116 E callum.guy(a)x-on.co.uk X-on is a trading name of Storacall Technology Ltd a limited company registered in England and Wales Registered Office : Avaland House, 110 London Road, Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, Herts, HP3 9SD Company Registration No. 2578478 This email has been sent from X-on.The contents and attachments are confidential to the sender and the intended addressees. If the message is received by anyone other than the addressee please return the message to the sender by replying to it and then delete the message from your computer without copying or disclosing the contents to anyone.Opinions, conclusions and statements of intent in this email are those of the sender and do not bind X-on unless confirmed by authorised representatives independently of this message. While best endeavours have been taken to avoid transmission of viruses, it is the responsibility of the recipient to scan for these. Please note emails sent to and from X-on are routinely monitored for record keeping and quality control, to ensure regulatory compliance and prevent unauthorised use of our systems. question about mod_sms
by Steve Kieu 07 Jan '14

07 Jan '14

Hello everyone, I am trying to use mod_sms to send out text message out via a gateway. How can I achieve that? In details, ... Local end point can send text msg to each other - it works out of the box. I want to write something in a chatplan so it parse the destination pattern and then send text message (Via sip MESSAGE) to a sip contact via a gateway (similar like the normal bridge application). Anyone know if it is possible and what the syntax is. many thanks, regards, -- Steve Kieu

can i set freeswitch to not using rctp mux?
by Vincent Xia 07 Jan '14

07 Jan '14

hi there, i have a couple of soft phones using ordinary rtcp, thus using rtp port + 1, but fs uses rtcp mux which shares port with rtp, so every time the phone sends rtcp to fs results in getting "destination unreachable (port unreachable)", question 1: is that possible to have fs using ordinary rtcp? question 2: i also tried to have rtcp pass through fs by adding <param name="rtcp-audio-interval-msec" value="passthru"/> into the sip profile, but then the phone sends rtcp to fs but gets nothing, neither rtcp from the other side nor the "destination unreachable" from fs, what's the problem?

Issues creating/modifying FreeSWITCH files after using MSI installation in Windows 8
by jayen 07 Jan '14

07 Jan '14

I don't know if many (any?) of you folks have ever tried running FreeSWITCH in Windows 8, but the MSI installed version seems to have an issue that had me scratching my head for awhile this evening. Specifically, it seems that I can't seem to create OR modify files in the FreeSWITCH directory located (by force) in Program Files. Before you ask, yes-I'm using the 64-bit MSI/version in a 64-bit OS. For instance, when I right-click in any folder in the FreeSWITCH directory tree and go down to "New", this is what I see: <http://i.imgur.com/1IJfir4.png>. When I try to edit an existing file, I'm told that it's "read only" and my changes can't be saved. How nice. Interestingly enough it seems that only sub-folders located in "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" exhibit this level folder/file protection, and I am a member of the local "Administrators" group. Having a bit of experience with all version of Windows post-Vista, I suspect that some craptastic (un?)documented feature of UAC is "protecting" the contents of the FreeSWITCH directory...just like it protects the rest of the contents of Program Files as well. Now to my point: as anyone who has ANY degree of experience with Windows in the last 10 years fully knows, there are virtually NO PROGRAMS in existence that store configuration data actually IN the Program Files directory, or a sub-directory therein....so why in tarnation does FreeSWITCH?!? Please fix this, or if I'm missing some really obvious solution to this problem, please-enlighten me in a response. If you're going to suggest that I simply move the folder out of the Program Files directory to somewhere else on the system that isn't "protected" by UAC, that's a GREAT idea! I think I'll do JUST THAT. But why should I have to in the first place??? For that matter, why doesn't the MSI installer give you the option of installing the program somewhere OTHER than Program Files??? Food for thought... Thanks all Jeremy

FreeSWITCH powered Application Server
by Thomas Quintana 07 Jan '14

07 Jan '14

Hi Guys, I have been an avid user of FreeSWITCH for quite sometime and have been fortunate enough to attend a ClueCon convention. Recently, I had the need to use Python for building communications software but could not find any solutions that were 100% async on top of ESL and that really exposed the full power of the platform in an intuitive manner. This has led me to create an actor based framework coupled with a declarative FSM library for building FreeSWITCH powered Python apps. I'm still polishing the project but it is now in a very usable state. I hope it may be as useful to others as FreeSWITCH has been to me. Thank You! https://github.com/thomasquintana/freepy Best, Thomas Quintana P.S. Sorry for the lack of creativity in the name.

Strangely High CPU Usage on Idle FS server
by Anthony Matejcich B.Com 06 Jan '14

06 Jan '14

HI guys Relatively new to the FS world and have exhausted research online. Running FS FreeSWITCH Version 1.2.10+git~20130624T024915Z~8fd4994b0c (git 8fd4994 2013-06-24 02:49:15Z) On VMWare virtual machine with Debian6 and specs of 2 CPU with 1 GB RAM, 50GB storage Currently only running one client with very very low call usage until we have tested the FS server. Total of 30 calls and day maximum and basically only running a simple IVR set up with 7 digit keypress prior to sending to Lua script for a simple calculation and then delivery to mobile or landline in Australia. System has been great for 6 months but issue arose around the 13th Dec 13 - dmtf entries are being duplicated. A single kepyress appears to register 2 of the same digit and is recorded as such in the CLI notes. Only happens about 50% of the time. Added a CPU to the mix and it may have assisted with this becoming about 30% of the time showing the issue now. But that seems crazy to require CPU's given it is such a small set up. Reviews showed high CPU Usage via top command information. CPU usage for the FS process is sitting between 14 and 22%! (constantly fluctuating) For the idle machine/with no calls coming in. Thus %wa is fluctuating between 1 and 8% constantly. There is no load on the server - but we did look at master logs and update core.db to the default <param name="core-db-name" value="/dev/shm/core.db" /> Very strange given the success over the first 6 months. Can anyone help please with information or where to go? Would be greatly appreciated. Anthony

Switching from RPM to GIT
by Callum Guy 06 Jan '14

06 Jan '14

I have a simple Monday morning query - if i've installed FreeSWITCH using RPM's and have now decided to remove the application and use the git head - is there a simple way to do this? I'm pretty much a novice so far as Linux administration so my approach would be as follows: List the packages: rpm -qa | grep -i freeswitch freeswitch-1.2.14-1.el6.x86_64 freeswitch-application-snom-1.2.14-1.el6.x86_64 freeswitch-appl.... ... ... (x30) Remove them all one at a time using rpm -e freeswitch-1.2.14-1.el6.x86_64 Proceed with GIT install. Is there a cleaner/easier approach? Thanks.

dynamic change conference profile in conference.conf.xml
by Shijun Bian 06 Jan '14

06 Jan '14

Hi all, I just be in trouble in the conference setting. I am building up a freeswitch cluster to server >100,000 users and all these users will be in thousands conference room. because the user base is growing day by day , so I have to dynamically add freeswtich node if necessary. But the ip address of the conference room is specified in the profile as the "domain" field in the conference.conf.xml which is loaded when the freeswitch started . now the problem is I can not restart all the freeswitch nodes the add a new profile into the conference.conf.xml when a new IP is be added into the cluster. so I wonder is it possible that I could add a new conference profile dynamiclly? I have been in trouble and google around for days but still can't find a way to solve it. Please help, thanks in advance. -- *Best Regards* *ShiJun Bian*

dynamic account and anonymous registration
by Jimmy Chang 06 Jan '14

06 Jan '14

Hi, I'm planning to build a public WebRTC web page. I'd like to use sipml5 for WebRTC client. Users can make WebRTC video calls from this client to FS registration agents without any login processes. I want to implement this WebRTC client without a explicit register. My problem is how to do that. Here are my three thoughts and questions. 1) WebRTC clients generate dynamic accounts for public users and use these accounts to register to FS. I wonder that if mod_xml_curl can fullfill my requirement. Or how can I implement dynamic account in FS? 2) WebRTC clients use a anonymous registration. I have seen FS support multiple registrations, so I create a anonymous user named "public_user" and allow it multiple registrations. I set <param name="multiple-registrations" value="true"/> in sip profile. Does that fulfill my requirement? 3) sipml5 make calls without any registrations. Is it possible? Does any sipml5 guru know how to do that? Regards, Jimmy --- 由於 avast! 防毒軟體已開啟防護，所以此封電子郵件將不受病毒及惡意軟體的侵害。 http://www.avast.com
