SRTP call between two extensions.
by Iskren Hadzhinedev 10 Jan '14

10 Jan '14

Hello, everyone! I'm having trouble with SRTP calls between two internal extensions. Whenever I configure the phones to require SRTP calls fail and the freeswitch console shows: [INFO] mod_dptools.c:3201 Originate Failed. Cause: INCOMPATIBLE_DESTINATION If I select "allow SRTP" so that encryption is not mandatory I get encryption on a single leg in a call. Here's an example of what's happening: Extension 100 -- SRTP --> FreeSWITCH -- RTP --> 102 (call success) Extension 100 -- RTP --> FreeSWITCH -- SRTP --> 102 (call success) Extension 100 -- SRTP --> FreeSWITCH -- SRTP --> 102 (call fail: INCOMPATIBLE_DESTINATION) I've setup the sip_secure_media=true variable as instructed from https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Secure_RTP but it's still not working. Any help is greatly appreciated! Kind regards, -- Iskren Hadzhinedev

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Issues creating/modifying FreeSWITCH files after using MSI installation in Windows 8
by Jeff Lenk 10 Jan '14

Your tone is kinda disrespectful here! I have provided an msi as an example of many things that FreeSWITCH can do and do so without having to build the code. It is a very simple MSI and I would like individuals perhaps like yourself to help out and contribute patches to enhance the installer. Nothing undocumented about it the permissions aren't set to allow files to be created or modified unless you are the administrator. Your point about default permissions here is fair enough and I would consider modifying that. It would have been far better suited for you to offer to patch the MSI building process to set some default permissions. Specifically, it seems that I can't seem to create OR modify files in the FreeSWITCH directory located (by force) in Program Files. Before you ask, yes-I'm using the 64-bit MSI/version in a 64-bit OS. For instance, when I right-click in any folder in the FreeSWITCH directory tree and go down to "New", this is what I see: <http://i.imgur.com/1IJfir4.png>. When I try to edit an existing file, I'm told that it's "read only" and my changes can't be saved. How nice. Interestingly enough it seems that only sub-folders located in "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" exhibit this level folder/file protection, and I am a member of the local "Administrators" group. Having a bit of experience with all version of Windows post-Vista, I suspect that some craptastic (un?)documented feature of UAC is "protecting" the contents of the FreeSWITCH directory...just like it protects the rest of the contents of Program Files as well. Now to my point: as anyone who has ANY degree of experience with Windows in the last 10 years fully knows, there are virtually NO PROGRAMS in existence that store configuration data actually IN the Program Files directory, or a sub-directory therein....so why in tarnation does FreeSWITCH?!? Please fix this, or if I'm missing some really obvious solution to this problem, please-enlighten me in a response. If you're going to suggest that I simply move the folder out of the Program Files directory to somewhere else on the system that isn't "protected" by UAC, that's a GREAT idea! I think I'll do JUST THAT. But why should I have to in the first place??? For that matter, why doesn't the MSI installer give you the option of installing the program somewhere OTHER than Program Files??? Food for thought... Accessing existing voicemail after FS restart
by Siri MM 10 Jan '14

10 Jan '14

Hi, I am using the simple approach of setting up voicemail, i.e. 1. Drop voice mail messages using: <action application="voicemail" data="default $${default} 3001" /> 2. Access voicemails using: <action application="voicemail" data="check default $${domain} 3001"/> It all works fine and am able to leave voicemails and access them. However, the problem that I am facing is, after having a few voicemail messages saved, if I were to restart FS, although the wav files are stored in the storage directory, IVR says that there are no messages. Is there anyway I could workaround this, so that I could access the messages even after FS is restarted? Thanks!

This happens on bith stable and master (pulled from git about 20 mins ago). Will raise a JIRA anyway. Cheers Alex

Hey Everyone. Introducing Skydas, by Symplicity. Skydas is a PHP ESL API for FreeSwitch. It uses Slim php for the php end. We have included our Angular JS app, a panel for Mod_callcenter. You can Fork it and Check it out on github.com @ https://github.com/Symplicity/skydas We are constantly introducing updates and functionality. Due multiple queries regarding the panel and the api, we’ve decided to release it to the public. Hi Michael, no, I haven't even set the parameter. So it is set to default which is false I guess. In this case it wouldn't be problem to pass this packets through. In my test setup for this case, I did not send any DTMF tones. [Config Problem] RTP Communication to callee interrupted
by Mitja 09 Jan '14

09 Jan '14

Hey all, I have problem after upgrading to fs stable 1.2.17 (also earlier stables like 1.2.14 for that matter). The configuration Ive been using for years (more or less) shows some serious issues with a newer release. To be more precise: Sporadically but in every call FreeSWITCH does not send some RTP packets to the callee. By a network trace I can see that the RTP packets from the caller are actually received by the server. I even enabled the following lines in switch_rtp.c #define DEBUG_2833 #define RTP_DEBUG_WRITE_DELTA #define DEBUG_MISSED_SEQ But still can't see any error or clue what happened to those packets. The only thing I see, is that there is a big delta between the last send RTP packets (which is true obviously): 2014-01-08 18:39:46.258984 [ERR] switch_rtp.c:4433 WRITE 172 delta 37059 Now I did not open a jira because when I tested the same setup with a close to standard config (I just changed the dialplan and directory to suit my test setup) it all worked fine. So the conclusion is obviously that I have a configuration issue. But I have no idea where to start, so I hope maybe someone can point me in a direction. Any help is appreciated. In short: FS git-1d3417a 2011-06-07 17-35-49 [I know its old] with own config -> works fine FS 1.2.17 with own config -> RTP hickups FS 1.2.17 with default config -> works fine Regards, Mitja

Set Max-Forwards for bridged calls
by Grant Bagdasarian 09 Jan '14

09 Jan '14

Hello, I have yet to investigate why the outgoing leg when bridging an incoming leg has a very low Max-Forwards value. It always starts with Max-Forwards: 7 which causes problems. I did force the value to be 70 by setting {max_forwards=70} in the bridge application, which works great, but this means I have to do this every time I do a bridge somewhere in the dialplan. Is there a way to set this value globally so each outgoing leg takes this value for its Max-Forwards header? Perhaps in the sip_profiles, var.xml, or somewhere else? Thanks, Grant

I'm with Mr. Lenk on this issue here. Before you go full blast blaming people here, have you searched the wiki before you posted here? Hint: You can point Freeeswitchconsole.exe to look for the config files elsewhere. Using sc.exe, you can alter the argument to have it looking to your desired location. -------- Original message -------- From: Jeff Lenk <jeff(a)jefflenk.com> Date: 01-08-2014 4:42 PM (GMT-08:00) To: FreeSWITCH Users Help <freeswitch-users(a)lists.freeswitch.org> Subject: Re: [Freeswitch-users] Issues creating/modifying FreeSWITCH files after using MSI installation in Windows 8 Your tone is kinda disrespectful here! Handling unavailble destinations
by Grant Bagdasarian 09 Jan '14

09 Jan '14

Hello, Consider the following scenario: Carrier ------------ SBC1 ------------ PROXY1 ------------ DESTINATION1/DESTINATION2 The carrier sends an incoming call to our SBC (SBC1). The SBC bridges the incoming leg with an outgoing leg towards the Proxy (PROXY1). But it does not answer the incoming leg, it stays in an early state until the call is answered down the road. The Proxy(Kamailio) tries to contact DESTINATION1 OR DESTINATION2 by distributing the traffic round-robin style. Let's say the first destination is not available. The proxy will then try to contact Destination2 after its timeout triggers. This works fine. Our carrier has its own timeout. If we don't connect the call in time, they cancel the current request and send a new one to the fallback IP. What I want is the following: have the SBC1 tell the carrier for the incoming leg that we are trying to connect the call by perhaps sending provisional messages every X interval. And have the proxy control which destination is available. If both destinations are unavailable, the proxy should respond with a failure message which is sent back to the incoming leg by the SBC. Normally if a destination is available I use <action application="set" data="bridge_early_media=true" /> to send the provisional messages from the outgoing leg back to the incoming leg. But when the destination is not available, no responses received, the carrier cancels the call when their timeout occurs. Am I making any sense? Is it possible to accomplish this?
