Dear FreeSWITCHers, We have to pay respects to a FreeSWITCH community member that has been with us since day one, Dave Kompel, he was enthusiastic about the FreeSWITCH project from day one, and has advised Tony, Mike and myself since its inception. He will be missed. Let's take this time and remember why we're here and what our goals are. Let's change the world, because we're just crazy enough to pull it off. #FreeSWITCH <https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/freeswitch?__eep__=6&__cft__[0]=AZU75oeLuf…> and Dave wouldn't have it any other way. #Thanks <https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/thanks?__eep__=6&__cft__[0]=AZU75oeLufpUu6…> Thank you Dave, You will be missed. /b -- Brian West | Co-founder and Developer Need Commercial support? email sales(a)freeswitch.com FreeSWITCH Solutions | 17345 Civic Drive #2531 Brookfield, WI 53045 <https://maps.google.com/?q=17345+Civic+Drive+%232531+Brookfield,+WI+53045&e…> Email: brian(a)freeswitch.com Mobile: 918-424-9378 Website: https://www.FreeSWITCH.com <https://www.freeswitch.com/> [image: https://www.facebook.com/signalwireinc?src=email] <https://www.facebook.com/freeswitch> [image: https://twitter.com/freeswitch] <https://twitter.com/freeswitch>

Reinvite RTP Error
by Guillermo Ruiz Camauer 31 Aug '21

31 Aug '21

I keep getting a lot of these errors at the console: 2021-08-30 20:08:06.598977 [ERR] sofia.c:8353 Reinvite RTP Error! I have not been able to correlate them to particular calls (this is a heavily loaded system). What could be the reason for these errors? Googling has not helped. Thanks in advance, -- Guillermo Ruiz Camauer

Hi All. Is it possible to detect if DTMF tones are used on a call and then send an email to somebody saying that DTMF is being used? Thank you, Alex

How to query current playback position?
by Avi Marcus 25 Aug '21

25 Aug '21

I'm trying to create a bookmark feature for long playbacks. I'll save the file and position (to be exact the sample position) and then when the caller comes back, they can choose to restart in the same place. The playback tool allows me to specify the sample position (and uuid_fileman lets me seek to one) But I don't see how to query the _current_ position. There's no status inside uuid_fileman There's no variables I see that are updating when doing uuid_dump. The closest I see is that if I stop the playback, I get a PLAYBACK_STOP event with the sample position. This seems like it could work, but that's means I need to trigger a script to stop the playback (can't continue listening) and wait for an ESL event, and hope we're getting the right one. (How to I listen for events attached only to a specific UUID?) This seems overly complicated. I was hoping to have a uuid_fileman option or the like to query the current position. Does that exist somewhere? Thanks.

Re: [Freeswitch-users] ICE -> FreeSWITCH tries exclusively the first candidate

What is to be done so that the Freeswitch also serves the other candidates and not only the first one? Independently of Trickle, of course. Is the trickle implementation being worked on? Or can this be financially favored? Thanks a lot Alex Von: FreeSWITCH-users <freeswitch-users-bounces(a)lists.freeswitch.org> Im Auftrag von Alexander Haugg Gesendet: Freitag, 20. Is Trickle being worked on right now, or would it be possible to fund an eventual Trickle implementation? Also with vanilla ICE the next candidate would have to be tried at some point, but that doesn't seem to happen. Is there a configurable candidate timeout property for this? I expected it to try to reach all candidates relatively soon (trickle). In the source code I saw that there are four ICE types: ICE_GOOGLE_JINGLE ICE_VANILLA ICE_CONTROLLED ICE_LITE What is behind them, and how can I select them from the "outside"? Or am I on the wrong track? What to do, that the FreeSwitch serves the candidates according to Trickle? I have the same result for mod_sofia and mod_verto (is clear, they use the same media stack). Thanks and greetings Alex

Dynamic users (from Curl XML) CIDR not merged to ACL
by Kliment Toshkov 21 Aug '21

21 Aug '21

Hello, My goal is to have dynamic (through CURL XML) defined users AND gateways; to be able to accept incoming calls from gateways, having those calls authenticated as the user that the gateway belongs to, and to be able to send outgoing calls to those gateways. Below is detailed description of my testing setup which works with static configuration and does not work with dynamic configuration. Kindly asking for advice! I have configuration in which ACL “domains” is defined as: acl.conf: <configuration name="acl.conf" description="Network Lists"> <network-lists> <list name="domains" default="deny"> <node type="allow" domain="$${domain}"/> </list> </network-lists> </configuration> It is used to allow and accept calls from specific IPs without authentication, having those IPs matched to users. Sofia profile (important part of it): <param name="apply-inbound-acl" value="domains”/> <param name="auth-calls" value="false"/> Matching is done by parameter “cidr” in user definition. According to the documentation each user “cidr” is added to the above list. https://freeswitch.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=3965687 <https://freeswitch.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=3965687> > domain > Scans the user definitions of the specified domain from the directory, and if your domain's users have cidr attributes, the ACL will be automatically built. > Example usage: > <node type="allow" domain="$${domain}"/> Those gateway IPs are defined using <gateway> configurations and are currently visible in the CLI: freeswitch@zz-freeswitch-test> sofia status Name Type Data State ================================================================================================= authenticated profile sip:mod_sofia@194.153.118.45:5060 RUNNING (0) trunks profile sip:mod_sofia@194.153.118.45:5070 RUNNING (0) trunks::1347a7ad-ff67-11eb-9528-9a306e6cb08d_2 gateway sip:FreeSWITCH@194.153.118.34 NOREG trunks::1347a7ad-ff67-11eb-9528-9a306e6cb08d_1 gateway sip:FreeSWITCH@194.153.118.28 NOREG ================================================================================================= 2 profiles 0 aliases When I define users in static XML files, then incoming calls are properly authenticated (this is file that is included in the directory xml files): User definition: <include> <user id="1347a7ad-ff67-11eb-9528-9a306e6cb08d" cidr="194.153.118.28/32,194.153.118.34/32"> <params> <param name="a1-hash" value="97f2bba16d30623aa245353ff8ae2513"/> <param name="auth-acl" value="195.230.3.104/32"/> </params> <variables> <variable name="accountcode" value="1347a7ad-ff67-11eb-9528-9a306e6cb08d"/> <variable name="user_context" value="context_1"/> </variables> </user> </include> Inbound accepted call: 2021-08-21 21:23:35.432769 [NOTICE] switch_channel.c:1118 New Channel sofia/trunks/35924373333(a)194.153.118.28 [0e67c277-00b5-4584-9b31-b9e86f42aace] 2021-08-21 21:23:35.432769 [DEBUG] switch_core_state_machine.c:585 (sofia/trunks/35924373333(a)194.153.118.28) Running State Change CS_NEW (Cur 1 Tot 1) 2021-08-21 21:23:35.432769 [INFO] sofia.c:10362 sofia/trunks/35924373333(a)194.153.118.28 receiving invite from 194.153.118.28:5060 version: 1.10.6 -release 64bit call-id: 0faf6dcb69db75f945f753561b0dd6ad@194.153.118.28:5060 2021-08-21 21:23:35.432769 [DEBUG] sofia.c:10456 verifying acl "domains" for ip/port 194.153.118.28:0. 2021-08-21 21:23:35.512752 [DEBUG] sofia.c:10658 Authenticating user 1347a7ad-ff67-11eb-9528-9a306e6cb08d(a)194.153.118.45 When I define those using CURL XML (returning the same content as the static file, this is XML response) user is able to successfully register: <document type="freeswitch/xml"> <section name="directory"> <domain name="194.153.118.45"> <params> </params> <groups> <group name="contract_1"> <users> <user id="1347a7ad-ff67-11eb-9528-9a306e6cb08d" cidr="194.153.118.28/32,194.153.118.34/32"> <params> <param name="a1-hash" value="97f2bba16d30623aa245353ff8ae2513"/> <param name="auth-acl" value="195.230.3.104/32"/> </params> <variables> <variable name="accountcode" value="1347a7ad-ff67-11eb-9528-9a306e6cb08d"/> <variable name="user_context" value="context_1"/> </variables> </user> </users> </group> </groups> </domain> </section> </document> But then incoming calls are not authenticated /please note “cidr” parameter in user definition/: 2021-08-21 21:36:57.884309 [NOTICE] switch_channel.c:1118 New Channel sofia/trunks/35924373333(a)194.153.118.28 [dd9bd835-de7a-43e7-9521-bc48b22336b6] 2021-08-21 21:36:57.884309 [DEBUG] switch_core_state_machine.c:585 (sofia/trunks/35924373333(a)194.153.118.28) Running State Change CS_NEW (Cur 1 Tot 1) 2021-08-21 21:36:57.884309 [INFO] sofia.c:10362 sofia/trunks/35924373333(a)194.153.118.28 receiving invite from 194.153.118.28:5060 version: 1.10.6 -release 64bit call-id: 665047ab59dcb3576dc5e23f21cb4cff@194.153.118.28:5060 2021-08-21 21:36:57.884309 [DEBUG] sofia.c:10456 verifying acl "domains" for ip/port 194.153.118.28:0. 2021-08-21 21:36:57.884309 [WARNING] sofia.c:10569 IP 194.153.118.28 Rejected by acl "domains" Digging this for a few days, came to conclusion that the ACL “domains” is not properly updated when a user registers.

nonat?
by Antony Stone 20 Aug '21

20 Aug '21

Hi. I have just installed my first FreeSwitch server on a virtual machine on my local network, and I'm playing with it and a couple of SIP phones on the same network, in order to learn about it. I've got the phones to register to the server (I've changed the default password in vars.xml), and my first test is simply to place a call between one phone and the other. I've discovered the "NAT feature" of FreeSwitch, where it finds out what the *external* IP address of my Internet router is (which has nothing to do with the FreeSwitch server or the phones I'm trying to work with here), and starts presenting that address to the telephones in the Invite messages (inlcuding the SDP negotiations). I've found https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Auto+Nat and https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/NAT+Traversal which tell me that I need to use the "-nonat" command-line option to freeswitch to disable this. However, this doesn't work for me: # ps ax | grep freeswitch 3678 ? S<Lsl 0:02 /usr/bin/freeswitch -u freeswitch -ncwait -nonat > sofia status profile internal ================================================================================================= Name internal Domain Name N/A Auto-NAT false DBName sofia_reg_internal Pres Hosts 192.168.32.59,192.168.32.59 Dialplan XML Context public Challenge Realm auto_from RTP-IP 192.168.32.59 Ext-RTP-IP 198.51.100.21 SIP-IP 192.168.32.59 Ext-SIP-IP 198.51.100.21 URL sip:mod_sofia@198.51.100..21:5060 BIND-URL sip:mod_sofia@198.51.100.21:5060;maddr=192.168.32.59;transport=udp,tcp WS-BIND-URL sip:mod_sofia@192.168.32.59:5066;transport=ws WSS-BIND-URL sips:mod_sofia@192.168.32.59:7443;transport=wss As you can see, my public IP address (represented here by 198.51.100.21) is still there, and it's still getting included in the Invite message and SDP negotiations between my telephones. So, how can I run FreeSwitch and two SIP telephones on a single internal network, without any reference to my public IP address? Thanks, Antony. -- "640 kilobytes (of RAM) should be enough for anybody." - Bill Gates Please reply to the list; please *don't* CC me.
