Re: [Freeswitch-users] XML based IVR
by Jim Thomas 24 May '08

Why Lua? I have experimented with Lua in the past, liked it, and thought it might be a good choice for application scripting on a small Asterisk embedded appliance with limited resources. But I assumed mainstream users on larger platforms would want to reach for the more familiar PHP or Python. I also suspect the web integration libraries might be more complete and mature with PHP and Python, which might be important for some telephony server applications. I am a fan of Lua, but I wonder what makes it the lead horse for scripting FS applications? Still, anything that can be embedded can be used. If you know of Ruby, PHP, or Erlang experts who can help with the challenges of embedding then I’m sure the FS devs would love to hear from them. -MC ________________________________ From:freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org [mailto:freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] On Behalf Of EdPimentl Sent: Friday, May 23, 2008 11:15 AM To: freeswitch-users(a)lists.freeswitch.org Subject: Re: [Freeswitch-users] XML based IVR It is all about choices. Ruby/Rails Bindings Pre-Release
by Jonathan Palley 22 May '08

22 May '08

All - I've done an initial check-in of our Rails/Ruby bindings for FS (inbound and outbound socket, XML-RPC). Please check out: http://code.google.com/p/telegraph The libraries excel at allowing you to merge voice and web applications and create database backed voice apps. This is an extraction from a production system. I'm confident the core works..but some of the peripheral will be going through further testing in coming days...and examples will be made. Any comments are definitely welcome! Jonathan

ClueCon Reminder
by Anthony Minessale 22 May '08

Everyone, We are about two and a half months from ClueCon 2008! I wanted to remind everyone to register ASAP so we get an accurate count of attendees. There are several great companies bringing prizes including SNOM, PIKA and Sangoma to name a few so good luck. Also, we still have a few speaking slots we can open up if anyone wants to speak. I look forward to seeing everyone there! -- Anthony Minessale II FreeSWITCH http://www.freeswitch.org/ ClueCon http://www.cluecon.com/ AIM: anthm MSN:anthony_minessale@hotmail.com <MSN%3Aanthony_minessale(a)hotmail.com> GTALK/JABBER/PAYPAL:anthony.minessale@gmail.com<PAYPAL%3Aanthony.minessale(a)gmail.com> IRC: irc.freenode.net #freeswitch FreeSWITCH Developer Conference sip:888@conference.freeswitch.org <sip%3A888(a)conference.freeswitch.org> iax:guest@conference.freeswitch.org/888 googletalk:conf+888@conference.freeswitch.org<googletalk%3Aconf%2B888(a)conference.freeswitch.org> pstn:213-799-1400

Multiple calls to soundcard
by Chris Kairalla 21 May '08

21 May '08

This is probably a newbie question, so please forgive me... My scenario is this: I want to allow multiple people to call a number and hear their voices play out through a speaker. I want this to be as real-time as possible so I want the path from phone to speaker to be as direct as possible. So my question is this: can FreeSwitch handle sending multiple streams of VOIP audio to its portaudio or alsa modules for mixed playback to speakers? Asterisk can only handle one stream of audio to a soundcard, which does me no good. I can create a softphone bridge but it's kludgy and I would rather go directly to the soundcard. Also, I am setting all of this up in a space where I will be behind a router and I won't be able to access that router. In fact, I'll be pulling the VOIP data through WiFi. Is FreeSwitch 1.0 able to handle IAX registration? IAX would definitely make my life easier in this scenario. Thanks! Chris

Problem with inbound calls with 2 SIP providers
by Sune Kristensen 21 May '08

21 May '08

Hi I have 2 SIP providers, one in Denmark (musimi.dk) and one in UK (sipgate.co.uk). I got each of them working when only one of them is running, but if I have both of them running inbound is not working, while outbound works fine. When I try to make an inbound call through the SPI provider, it takes a long time with nothing happening and then it gives me a busy tone, but as far as I can see the call never reaches my freeswitch server. At the moment both gateways are using the default external profile (port 5080) , so my guess is that each gateway needs a unique port when connecting, but I have not tested that as I am having trouble figuring out how to configure it (Been looking here http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Sofia_Configuration_Files mostly, but it is not clear to me how profiles and gateways are using each other ). So how do I get each gateway to connect with different ports, or is the problem something else? My conf files: Directory/default/dk_musimi.xml <include> <user id="USERNAME"> <gateways> <gateway name="musimi.dk"> <param name="username" value="USERNAME"/> <param name="realm" value="musimi.dk"/> <param name="password" value="PASSWORD"/> <param name="register" value="true"/> </gateway> </gateways> <params> <param name="password" value="PASSWORD"/> </params> </user> </include> Directory/default/uk_sipgate.xml <include> <user id="USERNAME"> <gateways> <gateway name="sipgate.co.uk"> <param name="username" value="USERNAME"/> <param name="realm" value="sipgate.co.uk"/> <param name="proxy" value="sipgate.co.uk"/> <param name="password" value="PASSWORD"/> <param name="register" value="true"/> </gateway> </gateways> <params> <param name="password" value="PASSWORD"/> </params> </user> </include> Dialplan/extensions/dk_musimi.xml <extension name="Musimi_Out"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^(0045)([0-9]{8})$"> <action application="set" data="effective_caller_id_name=NAME"/> <action application="set" data="effective_caller_id_number=46928525"/> <action application="bridge" data="sofia/gateway/musimi.dk/$2(a)musimi.dk"/> </condition> </extension> Dialplan/extensions/uk_sipgate.xml <extension name="Sipgate_Out"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^(0044)([0-9]{12})$"> <action application="set" data="effective_caller_id_name=NAME"/> <action application="set" data="effective_caller_id_number=08709749281"/> <action application="bridge" data="sofia/gateway/sipgate.co.uk/$2(a)sipgate.co.uk"/> </condition> </extension> In dialplan/public.xml I have added: <extension name="Musimi_In"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^46928525$"> <action application="set" data="call_timeout=20"/> <action application="bridge" data="user/1000@$${domain},user/1001@$${domain},user/1002@$${domain}"/> </condition> </extension> <extension name="Sipgate_In"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^08709749281$"> <action application="set" data="call_timeout=20"/> <action application="bridge" data="user/1000@$${domain},user/1001@$${domain},user/1002@$${domain}"/> </condition> </extension> System is: OpenSuse 10.3 64 bit FreeSwitch RC6 (Same with RC5) /Sune
