dynamic music on hold for mod_conference
by Lappe, Adam 19 Mar '20

19 Mar '20

Hi all, i am trying to dynamically set the mod-sound variable in mod_conference, so I can play different music on hold to my conference rooms without having to create multiple profiles. Is there a way to set my moh-sound path while I create the conference? Or can I change the moh-sound file via the event socket in a existing conference? I think this would also lead to success. Thanks in advance, Adam

New Debian FS vanilla install fails
by Sean Devoy 04 Mar '20

HI all, I have a new Debian 8.1 (32 bit) server for testing. I first did an apt-get install curl then per the instructions here: https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Debian+7 I did this: echo "deb http://files.freeswitch.org/repo/deb/debian/ `lsb_release -sc` main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/freeswitch.list curl http://files.freeswitch.org/repo/deb/debian/freeswitch_archive_g0.pub | apt-key add - apt-get update apt-get install freeswitch-meta-vanilla It runs for less than a minute and dies at: Setting up freeswitch-sysvinit (1.4.19~10~1-1~jessie+1) ... Stumped by mod_portaudio permissions issue
by Mark Haun 02 Feb '20

02 Feb '20

I built freeswitch version 1.7.0+git~20150730T192909Z~ab7f83c654~32bit for my ARM-based home server (an NVIDIA Jetson board), with the intention of using mod_portaudio with a wireless USB headset for my main home phone. It works well when running freeswitch directly as root, but when I configured freeswitch to run at system startup, mod_portaudio could no longer find any audio devices. No problem, I thought, it's a simple permissions issue. I am using the example debian init script from the wiki (this is a Jessie install with SysV init rather than systemd). It runs freeswitch as user freeswitch, group daemon using the -u and -g command-line options. So I added "freeswitch" to the audio group, then used sudo to verify that I could play sound files with "aplay" as the freeswitch user. That worked, but it did not solve the mod_portaudio failure. Thinking there must be an issue with portaudio separate from ALSA, I fetched and built the "pa_devs" utility which enumerates and prints the available audio devices. (This is basically what mod_portaudio is doing on startup.) Running as the freeswitch user, that worked too. Hmmmm. I tried running freeswitch from the command line using sudo rather than the -u and -g options, i.e. $ sudo freeswitch /usr/local/freeswitch/bin/freeswitch -nc and that worked as well! Then I started experimenting with -u and -g and discovered that $ /usr/local/freeswitch/bin/freeswitch -nc -u freeswitch allows mod_portaudio to load correctly, whereas $ /usr/local/freeswitch/bin/freeswitch -nc -u freeswitch -g daemon causes mod_portaudio to fail. Can anyone explain what's happening here? In both cases the process UID, GID, EUID, EGID, FUID, and FGID are the same (freeswitch:daemon) as displayed with "ps xao pid, uid, gid, euid, egid, fuid, fgid". Could this be a bug in freeswitch? There are a couple of threads from 2-3 years ago in the archives, where mod_portaudio permissions issues were never resolved and the solution remained a mystery. For the time being I guess this (not using -g) is a workaround, but I'd sure like to understand what is going on. Mark

Has anyone encountered this kind of problem ? I have a pcap if necessary... Thanks, -- Regards, Mirko

Hi, how can I tell freeswitch to update the *SRV* records or is there a way to force the update without restarting. My provider keeps changing the entries after a few days and if I don't restart freeswitch I can not call out anymore (403) Best regards

Call to unregister endpoint with auth=true after endpoint password change
by Jose David Jurado Alonso 25 Jul '19

25 Jul '19

Hi, I have FS configured to only send calls to authenticated endpoints. It works very well in general but there is a case in which it sends the call to unregistered endpoints: 1. Auth the endpoint and "registration" (ok) 2. Call to endpoint and call arrives (ok) 3. Change the endpoint password in FS DB and endpoint "fail registration" 4. Call to endpoint and call arrives (ERROR, call must be ignored) The ERROR is because the REGISTER event know that endpoint "fail registration" and yet send the call anyway ignoring the "auth_calls=true" configuration. If I execute these fs_cli commands between step 3 and 4, the call is not sent (OK for me, expected and desired case): > sofia profile external flush_inbound_reg all > sofia profile external flush_inbound_reg reboot > sofia profile external check_sync I have not tested if all the commands are necessary or not. Does anyone know how it can be done to make it work as desired using configuration without having to execute the commands after every password change in an endpoint? Relevant configuration is: vars.xml: <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="internal_auth_calls=true"/> <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="internal_sip_port=5060"/> <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="internal_tls_port=5061"/> <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="internal_ssl_enable=false"/> <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="external_auth_calls=true"/> <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="external_sip_port=5080"/> <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="external_tls_port=5081"/> <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="external_ssl_enable=false"/> sip_profile "external.xml" (i use it): <param name="manage-presence" value="false"/> <param name="auth-calls" value="true"/> <param name="multiple-registrations" value="true"/> I use a dynamic directory getting SIP accounts from DB and generate the XML (mod_curl) setting "cacheable=0". Thanks! José David Jurado Alonso.

DTMF not working in my installation
by Euan Millar 11 Jun '19

11 Jun '19

Hello again, kind Freeswitch group. I am using ESL to control my calls entirely from a Node application. I am using the 'modesl <https://github.com/englercj/node-esl>' package to create an ESL connection and listen to the FS events <https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Event+List> and then answer a call if the number matches a dialplan I want to control using the mod_command "uuid_answer." I have gotten as far as attempting to recognise DTMF events, but I am getting no DTMF events through. So, I tested my Freeswitch installation using the IVR demo, and it looks like DTMF is not being received by Freeswitch at all. I monitored fs_cli and I can see that the demo is just waiting for digits, even though I can hear them being pressed in my softphone. Is there any particular modules that I need to ensure are installed, or configuration I need to make in order to enable DTMF? In a previous email to this list, I saw a message advising to set the following in sofia.conf. <param name="dtmf-type" value="rfc2833"/> I can see that the property is loaded inside sip_profiles > internal.xml But changing this has had no effect. I still do not get any DTMF events being recognised in fs_cli Many thanks for any help or advice you can provide. Kind regards, Euan
