Profile failing on restart after a few hours of use
by Francis 08 May '14

This had me stumped for two days. The server would reboot, FS would come up and profiles would work for a few seconds, then fail. Checking the profile status showed it missing, but manually starting it, everything worked? The trigger was the ipv6 interface coming up late, causing the profiles to reload: 2014-05-08 03:51:39.443205 [INFO] mod_sofia.c:5751 EVENT_TRAP: IP change detected 2014-05-08 03:51:39.443205 [INFO] mod_sofia.c:5752 IP change detected []->[] [::1]->[2632:f0d0:4211:a::2] 2014-05-08 03:51:39.803298 [NOTICE] sofia_glue.c:5885 Reload XML [Success] 2014-05-08 03:51:39.803298 [INFO] mod_enum.c:876 ENUM Reloaded 2014-05-08 03:51:39.803298 [INFO] switch_time.c:1191 Timezone reloaded 530 definitions 2014-05-08 03:51:39.843230 [NOTICE] sofia_reg.c:135 UN-Registering footel 2014-05-08 03:51:40.843346 [NOTICE] sofia.c:2682 Waiting for worker thread 2014-05-08 03:51:40.843346 [INFO] switch_core_sqldb.c:1495 sofia:external Destroying SQL queue. 2014-05-08 03:51:40.963253 [NOTICE] sofia.c:2682 Waiting for worker thread 2014-05-08 03:51:40.963253 [INFO] switch_core_sqldb.c:1495 sofia:internal Destroying SQL queue. 2014-05-08 03:51:41.043214 [INFO] switch_core_sqldb.c:1439 sofia:external Stopping SQL thread. .... which wasn't a problem, but then this error would pop up halfway through the reload: 2014-05-08 03:51:43.883336 [NOTICE] sofia.c:2682 Waiting for worker thread nua.c:223 nua_destroy() nua_destroy(0x90c7a98): FATAL: nua_shutdown not completed 2014-05-08 03:51:43.883336 [INFO] switch_core_sqldb.c:1495 sofia:int-15000 Destroying SQL queue. 2014-05-08 03:51:44.083185 [INFO] switch_core_sqldb.c:1439 sofia:int-15000 Stopping SQL thread. .... resulting in this error: 2014-05-08 03:51:44.083185 [NOTICE] sofia.c:4874 Started Profile int-15000 [sofia_reg_int-15020] 2014-05-08 03:51:44.083185 [DEBUG] sofia.c:2413 Creating agent for int-15000 2014-05-08 03:51:44.103652 [ERR] sofia.c:2506 Error Creating SIP UA for profile: int-15000 (sip:mod_sofia@115.89.334.121:15000;maddr=10.5.5.250) The likely causes for this are: 1) Another application is already listening on the specified address. 2) The IP the profile is attempting to bind to is not local to this system. So as an experiment, I deleted all the db's in /var/lib/freeswitch/db and the error disappeared, for two reboots. On the third reboot, the db's had grown again (less than 1mb all told) and the errors resurfaced. I also get the same error intermittently when restarting the profile manually. However, stopping the profile, waiting 10 seconds, then starting it again works fine. The system is FreeSWITCH (Version 1.2.23 -1 32bit) on an Atom N270 1GBram 32GB USB3 MLC flash, which I thought would be fast enough to handle this. It seems like nua isnt' able to finish whatever it's doing before FS tries to restart the profile, causing it to assume something else is listening on the address and fail loading the profile. Is there any way I can extend the restart timeout to avoid this? -Francis

dial multiple extensions from bg api
by Jason Holden 08 May '14

08 May '14

Hi. I am currently using the bg api command to bridge a single call event to multiple phones. I've noticed that it does bridge to multiple extensions but if I have a shared line it only bridges to one of the phones with the shared line. Any recommendations on how to address this, I am currently using user/extension,user/extension. Thanks.

FS SRV load balancing
by thomas peterseil 08 May '14

08 May '14

hello freeswitch-users, I am thinking about a load balanced setup of two FS-Servers and i would like to use DNS SRV records for that. I checked the FS-Wiki and there is a description about this usecase. (http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Enterprise_deployment_DNS_SRV) But if i have two (or more) servers in one domain, i guess i need to sync the registration database somehow. are there any solutions to do that? thank you very much for your help! best, thomas

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Memory
by Keith 08 May '14

08 May '14

Hi Everyone, Just a general question, does anyone else have memory management issues with freeswitch? I am seeing that it seems to gradually consume memory without properly freeing it up until you restart FS. Is this normal? I am using the latest stable release. Many thanks, Keith

can't hear audio when dialing 9198 (Tetris audio test)
by Jeff Stark 07 May '14

07 May '14

Hi, I installed FreeSwitch 1.2.23 on an Amazon EC2 instance (running Amazon Linux). I opened port 5060 for UDP to the server. I then registered as user 1005 using SipDroid on my phone via WiFi. At first when I dialed 9198, I could hear the Tetris music. I could also hear the music on hold audio (when I dialed 9664). However, the echo test failed. Therefore I tried changing the config for the server according to this: http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Amazon_EC2 However, after doing that not only did the echo test not work, but neither did the Tetris or music on hold tests. So I returned the config back to what it was originally. Unfortunately I still can't hear the Tetris or music on hold audio. I have tried using both LinPhone and XLite softphones as alternatives, but I can't hear the audio on those either. Signalling appears to work. I can dial an extension on a registered softphone and have another registered softphone ring, but there is no audio. I would appreciate any help or insight anyone has on what the problem might be. Also, I have tried using G722, PCMA, PCMU and GSM audio codecs, but none have worked. All the softphones I have tried are able to register without any noticeable problems. Thanks. Jeff Stark Below is part of the log for a typical session where I can't hear the Tetris audio. mod_distributor configuration advice
by bedgar＠vseinc.com 07 May '14

07 May '14

Good Day FS Users, I am looking to utilize mod_distributor to round robin my outbound through TDM. I have multiple 4-port Sangoma cards. Some spans are dedicated to inbound trunks from my provider and some spans are dedicated to outbound. 1. I wanted to group my spans and reference these groups in mod_distributor. Is this possible? 2. If so, what would be the syntax in distributor.conf.xml? 3. In addition, if a span or group that is next to be used based on the weight ends up in a down state, how could that span or group be excluded as an automatic remedy? Thank you, Brian

h.264 audio
by Joli Martinez 07 May '14

Hello, I have an h.264 video that I would like to send to freeswitch and have it play the audio portion of it on a conference. So basically I have a conference going on and I would like to inject a video into freeswitch and have the users in the conferece hear the audio portion of it. Is this possible and if so any suggestions as to how to implement this. Thanks,

Internal Sofia profile fails to load if STUN fails
by Francis 07 May '14

I came across this accidentally, because of a broken firewall. I rebooted a Freeswitch server, which came up but failed to load the internal profile. When trying to reload the profile from fs_cli, I got an error message that the stun server was invalid, which wasn't the case, it was just the firewall blocking traffic. Disabling the firewall and restarting the server got everything working again. This effectively prevents a server from functioning, in the event of having to reboot during an internet outage or if the stun server is temporarily inaccessible. I'd rather the profile load regardless and continue to probe the stun server until it gets a response. Is there any way to set this? Francis
