FreeSwitch as MOH for Lync
by Jacob Hodges 28 Oct '11

I am looking at using FreeSwitch to provide Music On Hold for Lync. Just wondering if anyone has done this before or could point me in the right direction. My only issue is FUD, I do not want people to advertise that FS does not work on ODBC under load when the whole story is FS does not work under load when you use fooODBC with barDRIVER with basBASE database server configured a particular way. It should never crash, if it does, its a bug in something. I can speak for FS that there is no bug there. The other 3 are variables. Remember this next time there is a discussion about using system libs and why we build our own depends. The one thing we use system libs for, ODBC, is a huge PITA......... Things to remember: 1) try the Threading=0 in the odbcinst.ini, this is a serious problem and has been made the default in latest versions. 2) If you must use Mysql, enable transactions and make sure your odbc.ini is referencing the threadsafe version of the lib libmyodbc3_r.so <-- note _r 3) Try various combos of drivers and odbc libs, many time newer is not better, stable versions lie in the past. 4) build the drivers and odbc yourself or get the debug symbols so you can get a backtrace, you could be finding a bug for them....... 5) Find a test to reproduce your problem so you can try different database engines and driver combos. 6) Make sure you are on latest FS git so you know you have a stable copy. Anyway, this is a pain, that's why ppl pay you to do it. Discuss this all you want here, just minimize any FUD to scare away people who want to use it. SPA921 only sends 10 digits to freeswtitch...

Hello everybody from Guadalajara, Mexico. I have 2 pots lines connected to a Cisco SPA8800 and with the help of fs wiki site I was able to interface this device to fs. To make calls outside my office I created a file in /usr/local/freeswitch/conf/dialplan/default [root@pbx default]# pwd /usr/local/freeswitch/conf/dialplan/default [root@pbx default]# cat 00_spa8800_linea_1.xml <include> <extension name="axtel1"> <condition field="destination_number" expression="^1(\d{8,16})$"> <action application="bridge" data="sofia/internal/$1@10.10.100.24:5061" /> </condition> </extension> </include> As you see I have to dial "1" an then the phone number to be dialed. With this dialplan entry I am able to make local calls from my linksys SPA921 IP Phone without any problem. Now I am trying to make some long distance calls. The phone I was trying to call has 12 digits. The problem is that when I dial this 12 digit phone number, log messages in fs_cli console shows me that freeswtich only has 10 numbers to try to make the long distance call. If it helps when I dial this exact 12 digits phone in Xlite from my windows rig, it works without any problem, I can make my long distance call. This is Xlite log: http://pastebin.freeswitch.org/17626 This is SPA921 log: http://pastebin.freeswitch.org/17627 Thanks in advance for your kind help. Have a nice day.

switch_rtp.c - Auto Changing Port
by Ross McKillop 27 Oct '11

27 Oct '11

Hi, I have a number of SIP endpoints behind NAT on a cellular network and am experiencing some odd behaviour with RTP traffic. No audio at all is present on the call for about the first 10s or so, and then the following is shown in the console; > 2010-09-06 01:04:53.101801 [INFO] switch_rtp.c:2049 Auto Changing port from 10.21.6.213:4000 to 217.171.129.67:22263 After which the call works perfectly. Is there any way I can force this process to happen quicker, within the first second of the call? or is it possible to force FreeSWITCH to use the external IP from the start? Any assistance you can offer would be much appreciated. Best Regards, Ross
