Fax hint request
by Ale 08 Oct '10

08 Oct '10

Hi all, I've compiled freeswitch from git, configured an external trunk and added enabled-t38=true in fax.conf. Both servers have a public ip. Tring to send a fax from cli via origiante all t.38 fax fail with 2010-10-05 19:48:14.228734 [NOTICE] mod_sofia.c:880 Hangup sofia/external/xxxxxx@ip [CS_EXECUTE] [RECOVERY_ON_TIMER_EXPIRE] ... 2010-10-05 19:48:14.228734 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:335 Fax processing not successful - result (49) The call dropped prematurely. Reading documentation i've found that RECOVERY_ON_TIMER_EXPIRE can be caused by nat configuration problem, but i think configuration could be reasonably correct. sip flow: http://i56.tinypic.com/30j1ezn.png remote trying after the initial invite of fs: http://i52.tinypic.com/255hlps.png remote 183 session in progress: http://i54.tinypic.com/293jew2.png After 183 fs wait some time, probably a timeout, and send a cancel request. Can shared mailbox signal multiple MWIs?
by Mario 08 Oct '10

08 Oct '10

If possible, how can FS light multiple userid/phones NOT using multiple registrations MWI when a message is in a shared mailbox? I have had a lot of trouble with multiple registrations and can't get SLA/SCA to work on the SPA962s. Use of :_: was required in the bridge and that was a lot of headaches. All due to use of shared mailboxes. I can control what mailbox is played back via an extension but I can't find a way to have the MWI indicator come on multiple userid/phones for a shared mailbox on SPA962s. If I can get past this I can finally dump shared lines, they were also a pain on the SPA9000 I am trying to replace. Thanks! Mario

Question about effective caller ID & origination caller ID
by Mario 08 Oct '10

08 Oct '10

I have the inbound caller ID working for a bridge but can't reconcile why effective_caller_id.. does not work. I spent a lot of time the last few days reading the wiki and other web info. Since I can't find the answer anywhere can anyone shed some light on this? The wiki states: effective_caller_id_number Sets the effective callerid number. This is automatically exported to the B-leg; however, it is not valid in an origination string. In other words, set this before calling bridge, otherwise use origination_caller_id_number Does NOT work before the bridge: Does NOT work before the bridge: <!--action application="set" ONLY way IT WORKS (must be added before dialstring): <action application="bridge" data="<originate_timeout=15,origination_caller_id_number=${caller_id_number},origination_caller_id_name=${caller_id_name}>group/MGT@${domain_name}:_:sofia/gateway/uuid1/19162223333:_:sofia/gateway/uuid1/19164445555"/> The caller ID is lost in an extension, although I still don't know why at least I got it back.

Config issue after router/Firewall change
by Malay Thakershi 08 Oct '10

08 Oct '10

We changed firewall our FS server is behind. All off sudden, no voice heard on answered calls. We made sure all rules are ditto as older router/firewall. We even tried opening up everything but result is same. Called Vitelity: they say according to them calls are OK. Please help with you suggestions.

mod_h323 - worst audio quality compare to other h323
by Shamun toha md 07 Oct '10

07 Oct '10

Dear FS H323 author and experts, With all my respect, I never saw till today H323 audio quality can be that much bad compared to my past years audio experience with quintum/cisco gateways. Info: === After spending couple of days, reading the source and and make file sources, i am now able to install mod_h323 in fedora/centos (32 bit or even 64 bit system). But when it has to face real world calls scenario, it does not really makes any sense the level of audio quality i am listening now. - Non stop 3/4 hours i just played mod_h323 and British telecom premium call termination route. (honestly mod_h323 really have some problem, somewhere) - I just planning to switch back to SIP :o( Highest priority, for mod_h323 Audio problem: =================================== 1. mod_h323 cant handle IVR audio/sound to other legs 2. When call is bridged with SIP user and H323 user ( both parties cant communicate because there is drop of audio, latency is very low, very bad audio quality) 3. H323 to H323 calls, have same audio issue, i just tried to tune to some point, but i just cant make it work! Less priority, Freeswitch instance problem, while using mod_h323: =================================================== 1. When mod_h323 is loaded, and i want to shutdown freeSwitch instance, i cant, FS gets freezed. 2. I need to reboot server either physically or init 6 for every restart of FS instance. 3. Risk of segmentation fault Many thanks & Best regards

Hi, I finally got mod_manage to load fine in FreeSWITCH on centos but now when I copied a .net dll that I built and runs on windows to the /mod/managed folder it loads fine on freeswitch startup but when try calling it (it's a AppPlugin) from the dialplan using <action application="managed" data="NameOfClass"/> I get these errors. 2010-09-01 00:21:23.303236 [ERR] switch_cpp.cpp:1177 Exception in Run(NameOfClass): System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object Server stack trace: at System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationCallbacks.GetMethodsByAttribute (System.Type type, System.Type attr) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationCallbacks..ctor (System.Type type) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationCallbacks.GetSerializationCallbacks (System.Type t) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationObjectManager.RegisterObject (System.Object obj) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.ObjectWriter.GetObjectData (System.Object obj, System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.TypeMetadata& metadata, System.Object& data) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.ObjectWriter.WriteObject (System.IO.BinaryWriter writer, Int64 id, System.Object obj) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.ObjectWriter.WriteObjectInstance (System.IO.BinaryWriter writer, System.Object obj, Boolean isValueObject) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.ObjectWriter.WriteQueuedObjects (System.IO.BinaryWriter writer) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.ObjectWriter.WriteObjectGraph (System.IO.BinaryWriter writer, System.Object obj, System.Runtime.Remoting.Messaging.Header[] headers) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter.Serialize (System.IO.Stream serializationStream, System.Object graph, System.Runtime.Remoting.Messaging.Header[] headers) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter.Serialize (System.IO.Stream serializationStream, System.Object graph) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at System.Runtime.Remoting.RemotingServices.SerializeExceptionData (System.Exception ex) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 Exception rethrown at [0]: at (wrapper xdomain-invoke) FreeSWITCH.AppPluginExecutor:Execute (string,intptr) at (wrapper remoting-invoke-with-check) FreeSWITCH.AppPluginExecutor:Execute (string,intptr) at FreeSWITCH.Loader.Run (System.String command, IntPtr sessionHandle) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 2010-09-01 00:21:23.303236 [ERR] mod_managed.cpp:422 Application run failed for NameOfClass (unknown module or exception). RPID in 183 Session progress
by Piotr Sobolewski 07 Oct '10

07 Oct '10

Hi I have strange situation where FreeSWITCH ads Remote-party-ID to 183 session progress received from upstream GW. Diagram below demonstrates this issue. UA1 ------> PROXY ------> FS (INVITE ruri=777 with RPID=123) UA1 <------ PROXY <------- FS (100 Trying) FS ----> GW (INVITE with RPID=123) UA1 <----( 183 session with RPID=777)---- FS <-----(183 session without RPID)------ GW I've tried both <action application="set" data="sip_cid_type=none"/> and <action application="export" data="sip_cid_type=none"/> in the dialplan but without success (still have RPID in the 183) Is it possible to disable adding of RPID to SIP response 183 Session Progress? -- Piotr Sobolewski sobolewski(a)gmail.com

FreeSwitch Out of threads!
by François Delawarde 07 Oct '10

07 Oct '10

Hello, I decided to do a bit of "stability" testing leaving 100 sessions calling a playback "tone_stream://$${tetris}" on my dual-core CPU with 4G of RAM during a few hours. After 5 hours working flawelessly, I started getting lots of: 2010-10-04 23:53:14.188596 [CRIT] switch_event.c:342 Out of threads! Later combined with: 2010-10-04 23:59:02.692961 [CRIT] switch_event.c:325 Event system overloading Both messages (the second one at an increased rate) followed by a few: 2010-10-05 00:25:43.711929 [CRIT] switch_time.c:755 Virtual Migration Detected! Syncing Clock Just before a crash where this time I did not get a core (??)... Any idea what I could have done wrong? François. PS: This was NOT intended to be a stress test, I just wanted to check how FS would handle at low-medium load during a few hours.
