slow hangup detection using FXO into voicemail application
by John Wehle 16 Jul '08

> Some FXO devices do not get the hangup signal immediately from the telco. Actually I've done further digging / debugging and it turns out that the FXO device * is * getting the hangup signal immediately from the PBX ... the problem is FreeSWITCH apparently doesn't know how to handle it. It is * shocking * that FreeSWITCH can't handle the basic System 25 PBX :-) hangup signal of ##99 DTMF. Unfortunately that's the only disconnect supervision type supported by the System 25 on vmail lines. Any suggestions on the best place / way to hack FreeSWITCH so that the voicemail application is notified of the hangup when ##99 is received on the line? -- John ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Feith Systems | Voice: 1-215-646-8000 | Email: john(a)feith.com | | John Wehle | Fax: 1-215-540-5495 | | -------------------------------------------------------------------------

SIP performance tweaking
by Patrick Grondin 16 Jul '08

16 Jul '08

Hi, I am currently doing some characterization testing to figure out the limitations of my freeswitch server. I have tried both with SIPP and by driving SIP calls between 2 Freeswitch through mod_event_socket. I get similar results both ways and I am suspicious of the results I get. Basically, whenever I try to launch calls with SIPP at a rate superior than 8 cps, it seems like calls are being stacked. The response time for a call between the "invite" and the corresponding "200 OK" keeps increasing as long as calls are being made which slows down the processing speed until the average CPS gets around 8 cps. My setup is : 1 Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 8216 @ 2.4 GHz 4 GB of RAM Gigabit NIC Centos 5 FreeSwitch Version 1.0.trunk (8911M) I think that my setup is underperforming and that it might be related to some missing configuration tweaks. I already adjusted the ulimit to the recommended settings in the wiki for maximum performance. I was wondering if there might be something else, that I'm still missing. Would any of you have an idea of what might be holding back my setup ? Thanks ! PG P.S. I gathered a bunch of information that I thought could be useful. uuid_send_dtmf
by Cesar Cepeda 16 Jul '08

16 Jul '08

Would it be posible to add a uuid_send_dtmf API? I coded one copying from another API, it works, but I'm not sure if it's the correct way of doing it (freeing memory, calling functions, etc), anyway I would like it if uuid_send_dtmf is added to the trunk. Here's the code: #define UUID_SEND_DTMF_SYNTAX "<uuid> <dtmf_data>" SWITCH_STANDARD_API(uuid_send_dtmf_function) { switch_core_session_t *psession = NULL; char *mycmd = NULL, *argv[2] = { 0 }; char *uuid = NULL, *dtmf_data = NULL; int argc = 0; if (session) { return SWITCH_STATUS_FALSE; } if (switch_strlen_zero(cmd)) { goto usage; } if (!(mycmd = strdup(cmd))) { goto usage; } if ((argc = switch_separate_string(mycmd, ' ', argv, (sizeof(argv) / sizeof(argv[0])))) < 2) { goto usage; } uuid = argv[0]; dtmf_data = argv[1]; if (switch_strlen_zero(uuid) || switch_strlen_zero(dtmf_data)) { goto usage; } if (!(psession = switch_core_session_locate(uuid))) { stream->write_function(stream, "-ERR Cannot locate session!\n"); return SWITCH_STATUS_SUCCESS; } switch_core_session_send_dtmf_string(psession, (const char *) dtmf_data); goto done; usage: stream->write_function(stream, "-USAGE: %s\n", UUID_SEND_DTMF_SYNTAX); switch_safe_free(mycmd); done: if (psession) { switch_core_session_rwunlock(psession); } switch_safe_free(mycmd); return SWITCH_STATUS_SUCCESS; } And on SWITCH_MODULE_LOAD_FUNCTION(mod_commands_load) I added: SWITCH_ADD_API(commands_api_interface, "uuid_send_dtmf", "send dtmf digits", uuid_send_dtmf_function, UUID_SEND_DTMF_SYNTAX); Thanks. Inbound gateway without registration
by whudson05 16 Jul '08

16 Jul '08

Hi, I've been having difficulties allowing inbound calls from a gateway which isn't authorised. The freeswitch system simply returns a "Proxy authentication required" error. Is there any way which I can set it up so that registration is not required for this inbound gateway? Thanks -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Inbound-gateway-without-registration-tp18490189p18490… Sent from the Freeswitch-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Core dump: Seg 11 if phones get powered off
by Faraz R. Khan 16 Jul '08

16 Jul '08

This seems to happen nightly. Let me explain the scenario, this is a third world country and power outages happen regularly. The UPS on which the phones are may die (and i'm sure it does). Seems like freeswitch segfaults when it cannot find these phones! (This is just my analysis- as freeswitch runs perfectly otherwise) I have a core file and have generated a backtrace from gdb. I have uploaded to JIRA as FSCORE-155. I am unclear as to whether this is a core issue or a sofia_sip issue. Please let me know if there is a workaround to this problem, as right now i have to restart freeswitch in the morning :) -- Faraz R Khan Chief Architect Emergen Consulting Pvt Ltd +92.21.529.0381 x200 www.emergen.biz

slow hangup detection using FXO into voicemail application
by John Wehle 16 Jul '08

16 Jul '08

If I call into the voicemail application from a VoIP phone and hangup while the welcome message is playing FreeSWITCH reports the hangup right away. If I call into the voicemail application from a A204DX FXO line and hangup while the welcome message is playing FreeSWITCH doesn't report the hangup until 33 seconds have elapsed. I've emailed Sangoma however thought to post it here in case it rings a bell. -- John ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Feith Systems | Voice: 1-215-646-8000 | Email: john(a)feith.com | | John Wehle | Fax: 1-215-540-5495 | | -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spidermokey_curl problem? Sanity check please
by Simon Tang 16 Jul '08

16 Jul '08

Hello, I've been making Javascript curl requests and have found that larger requests sometimes come back incomplete. This is what I am doing in javascript: ------------ function callback(string, arg) { console_log("info", "returned body:" + string + "\n"); return true; } var curl = new CURL(); var blah = curl.run("GET", url, args, callback, arg, ""); -------------- comparing 'string' with tcpdump, I found that 'string' is definitely incomplete vs. tcpdump. I've looked into spidermokey_curl.c and found this code (excerpts): static size_t file_callback(void *ptr, size_t size, size_t nmemb, void *data) {...} curl_easy_setopt(co->curl_handle, CURLOPT_WRITEFUNCTION, file_callback); curl_easy_setopt(co->curl_handle, CURLOPT_WRITEDATA, (void *) co); I had the suspicion that the callback is getting a partial response and passing it into the JS object as a completed response: - From http://curl.netmirror.org/libcurl/c/curl_easy_setopt.html: "The callback function will be passed as much data as possible in all invokes, but you cannot possibly make any assumptions. It may be one byte, it may be thousands. The maximum amount of data that can be passed to the write callback is defined in the curl.h header file: CURL_MAX_WRITE_SIZE." >From this, I think that it is the callback's responsibility to ensure that the complete response was received and to save the data somewhere. To confirm my suspicion, I replaced the callback function in spidermonkey_curl.c with vanilla logging and took out the JSAPI references: static size_t file_callback(void *ptr, size_t size, size_t nmemb, void *data) { register unsigned int realsize = (unsigned int) (size * nmemb); switch_log_printf(SWITCH_CHANNEL_LOG, SWITCH_LOG_DEBUG,"BODY STUFF::::::%s\n", (char*) ptr); return realsize; } I recompiled and reproduced the offending http request. I found that the log is called twice, with each log comprising both pieces of the complete response. When I reverted back to the original file_callback function and added a log in there, the log only recorded the first part of the response (incomplete). I'm not sure if I'm using this correctly or if my analysis is correct, so if someone can provide me some feedback, that'd be great. If it's a legit bug, I can file it. Simon Tang

send_dtmf problems
by John Wehle 16 Jul '08

> <action application="gentones" data="1234567890"/> Yep, this works through the A204d FXO openzap lines, though sometimes there's little odd click / hiccup in the middle of playing the tones. I'm a little confused as to why using send_dtmf didn't seem to work well, however no matter. -- John ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Feith Systems | Voice: 1-215-646-8000 | Email: john(a)feith.com | | John Wehle | Fax: 1-215-540-5495 | | -------------------------------------------------------------------------
