The state machine in endpoints
by Lucas Cornelisse 19 Jun '08

19 Jun '08

Hi, I have a quick question regarding the endpoints: There is some mention in mod_reference about a state machine around the on_init, on_routing functions.... is there a diagram of this lying around somewhere? or perhaps a piece of code i haven't found yet that describes said machine? Thanks, Lucas

Mod_XML_RPC on windows
by UV 19 Jun '08

19 Jun '08

It's quite embarrassing but I read about all the great things mod_xml_rpc can do, see all the threads about it, even manage to load the module successfully - but can't get it to work. We tried several window's builds (from RC4 to most recent one) - but nothing. All that happens on port 8080 is the port disconnects by server on the first byte sent there. No other response. No great features. No error messages as well. Nothing. Until now we were convinced it's just our stupidity that didn't allow us to properly configure the module, but I decided to risk shame and ask around: Did anyone manage to get that module working on a windows platform (2000, 2003, xp)? Any ideas what are we doing wrong?

Profile configuration and aliases
by Jonas Gauffin 19 Jun '08

19 Jun '08

Hello Question 1: I got the following config: Name Type Data State ================================================================================================= outbound profile sip:mod_sofia@MY.PUBLIC.IP:5080 RUNNING (0) nat profile sip:mod_sofia@MY.PUBLIC.IP:5060 RUNNING (0) default profile sip:mod_sofia@192.168.1.124:5070 RUNNING (0) mydomain.com alias default ALIASED ================================================================================================= 3 profiles 1 alias I can't user "originate sofia/default/auser 8888", I get "Cannot locate registered user auser@default". It works if I use "originate sofia/mydomain.com/auser 8888". Shouldn't both work? -------------------------- Question 2: Isn't this valid? <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="domain=$${local_ip_v4}"/> <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="sip_profile=mydomain.com"/> If not, please change the description: "sip_profile: Must be a domain name if you are being a registry server; otherwise can be any string." It produces the following config: Name Type Data State ================================================================================================= outbound profile sip:mod_sofia@MY.PUBLIC.IP:5080 RUNNING (0) nat profile sip:mod_sofia@MY.PUBLIC.IP:5060 RUNNING (0) default profile sip:mod_sofia@192.168.1.124:5070 RUNNING (0) 192.168.1.124 alias default ALIASED ================================================================================================= 3 profiles 1 alias User's cant register using mydomain.com as domain. I tried by adding $${sip_profile} as an alias for the default profile, but that didn't help. -------------------------------- Regards, Jonas

Success stories
by Jim Thomas 19 Jun '08

19 Jun '08

Hello, I am trying to make the case for FreeSWITCH, and in particular, Sofia SIP. I am being asked whether FreeSWITCH/Sofia is still in the lab, or if there are actual deployments. Does anyone have a success story they can share? Thanks. Jim

1) How to set call duration (for example for 5 minutes ) in js file User bkw__ (from IRC) has advised me to use sched_hangup. First in my dialplan I set following line <action application="sched_hangup" data="+60 alloted_timeout"/> but after 1 minute call didn't automatically hangup. Also in the Internet I found something like this <action application="sched_hangup" data="execute_on_answer=+60 alloted_timeout"/> but still minute call didn't automatically hangup. Why ? 2) Can anybody help me with this problem http://pastebin.freeswitch.org/4641 ? MikeJ on IRC has written something like this: "you can't return a value from a jsrun" "becuase it spawns a thread to do the jsrun " "what you can do is bind an event " "and spawn the event from the js " "thats the only way I can think to do it easilt " So. How bind an event and spawn it from js ? Thanks [argh]

Javascript ODBC with MSSQL
by Areski K 17 Jun '08

17 Jun '08

Anyone have been working with an MSSQL ODBC connection through Javascript FS !? I am facing this constant error : 2008-06-14 01:38:22 [CRIT] switch_odbc.c:240 db_is_up() The sql server is not responding for DSN DEVMSSQLTDS [] 2008-06-14 01:38:22 [INFO] switch_odbc.c:245 db_is_up() The connection has been re-established It seems that the script block on : db.query(sql); I checked the ODBC connection, DNS and it does work fine from Isql or with php-odbc! For info, this works perfectly if I use an odbc connection on postgresql. I will bet I am the only freak trying to connect to a MSSQL DB ;-) Cheers, //Areski
