Mod Shout Errors
by unknown 13 Oct '08

13 Oct '08

Hi there, anybody knows how to solve the issue of mod_shout errors after recent svn update? My mod_shout had been working fine playing MP3 files, but apparently some changes had been done to mod_shout recently, it is not working any more, with no configuration changes to local stream and mod shout, freeswitch console kept getting the following error: [frame.c:918] error: Could not set optimization! 2008-10-11 19:03:56 [ERR] mod_shout.c:316 decode_fd() Decoder Error! Any ideas would be really appreciated Thanks,

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Originate command

Brian, how wonderful, this is illustration the art of communication. Or rather, how difficult it is. I was thinking of some kind of directory in the structure of pastebin, not the FS, when you mentioned the "directory". So, regarding the FS user directory, I'm using xml_curl, and I have pasted a part of it (it has 300 entries). I have also tried to comment out the xml_curl module and used a static directory, in order to eliminate the possibility of an undesired interaction with xml_curl, but the result was the same. Anyhow, the three bits are now included and sent using pastebin. Goodnight! /Jon

garbled audio playing shout streams
by Mark D. Anderson 12 Oct '08

12 Oct '08

I apologize in advance that I can't characterize this better than with some symptoms, praying that someone has some suggestions. I'm running a fs-based system where people can call-in, type a digit in a simple IVR prompt, and then hear a chosen mp3 stream. This is implemented entirely in javascript. When the stream is chosen i call play_file("shout://domain.com/mount.mp3") or whatever. It works most of the time. However, now with increasing users, it eventually starts producing garbled/slow audio. Once this starts, all users experience it, and the entire FS process has to be restarted to fix it. It is not starved for cpu or memory. There is no problem with the original streams; internet listeners don't have any problems. So, it "feels" like a thread-safety/memory-corruption issue, but I'm not clear how much sharing is really going on -- presumably libshout is thread-safe, and little sharing actually goes on among sessions? It is quite possible that there are different mp3 encoding parameters (channels, bitrate, etc.) among the different streams being used, but again, presumably that context is not shared among sessions? I've been getting desperate enough that I've been toying with the idea of decoding the mp3 streams myself out of process, and piping RAW bits directly into a unix domain socket, and playing that instead, bypassing libshout and lame entirely. (Would that work?) I'm running svn rvn 9361, 2008-08-23. I'm building with --enable-core-odbc-support and have these languages and formats enabled: formats/mod_native_file formats/mod_sndfile formats/mod_shout formats/mod_local_stream formats/mod_tone_stream languages/mod_spidermonkey languages/mod_spidermonkey_teletone languages/mod_spidermonkey_core_db languages/mod_spidermonkey_socket languages/mod_spidermonkey_odbc languages/mod_lua -mda

Brian, thanks for the useful info! I have pasted it under my login name, jbr. I don't know if that you mean by user directory. /Jon

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Originate command
by Jon Bruel 12 Oct '08

Brian, this is an example of what I do: From the CLI, I enter: Originate user/100008888205@10.3.1.24,user/100008888201@10.3.1.24 206 XML internalpreparation. I have a different phone on each endpoint referred to above, but I can see that when I enter the command, two calls go to user/100008888205(a)10.3.1.24. When I answer, the phone with extension 206 is rung. I'll send you further information on pastebin.freeswitch.org, but I need some instructions on how to be authorized accessing it. By the way, a similar issue has been reported by B Karthik, August 18th. /Jon

mod_xml_curl X.509 authentication
by Kristian Kielhofner 12 Oct '08

12 Oct '08

Hey everyone, I see that mod_xml_curl has an option to disable the CA cert check for use with HTTPS connections. Are there any options for configuring X.509 authentication? I imagine username/password, with HTTPS, with disabling CA checks works pretty well but I'd prefer full-blown X.509 with a CA, trusted certs, etc. I'm sure that curl/libcurl supports everything I'm looking for... Where does FreeSWITCH stand on this? Thanks! -- Kristian Kielhofner http://blog.krisk.org http://www.submityoursip.com http://www.astlinux.org http://www.star2star.com
