Re: [Freeswitch-users] [RTPproxy] Handling multiple re invites from media server
by Maxim Sobolev 12 Aug '20

Hi Babak, sorry for the late reply. I've been quite busy here lately. Your setup seems very complicated, I am not sure if that's for a reason or something that "just happened". One immediate problem is that the call is proxied twice - even before FS is switched in, the RTP already takes 4 hops: RTP in, ssrc=0x3a8d7fbe: 205.1:4008 -> 205.34:20042/20012 -> 205.34:20068/20020 -> 205.1:4006 RTP out, ssrc=0x339a275d: 205.1:4006 -> 205.34:20020/20068 -> 205.34:20012/20042 -> 205.1:4008 Two hops in the middle is basically RTPPproxy sending packets to itself between call legs. This of course increases delay and jitter, as well as doubles the work for the RTPProxy. It is a good practice to only pin media once in general, either when the inbound leg comes in or when outbound leg goes out Now, a little bit later FS comes in and tries to update both legs to make the session like the following. Square brackets indicate the part where packets don't reach: RTP in, ssrc=0xf7229438: 205.129:18804 -> 205.134:20068 [/20020 -> 205.1:4006] RTP out, ssrc=0xf71e7468: 205.129:17100 -> 205.134:20012 [/20042 -> 205.1:4008] The reason this does not really work I think is that the RTPProxy historically and by design treats any IP/port in the re-INVITE with utter suspicion, more like a hint than actual direction by default. This is because it's designed to provide NAT traversal in the majority of cases. Including the weird case of either side to "float" to the new IP:port without any notification from the signalling end (i.e. roaming between hot spots). So it normally expects the original sender to stop sending packets before it can fully switch over to the new IP/port from the re-INVITE. In your case, however, since original endpoints are shielded from the port change in re-INVITE by the virtue of having rtpproxy essentially in the middle of the call twice on both sides (i.e. you are trying to go from UA1<->RTPP(1)<->RTPP(2)<->UA2 to UA1<->RTPP(1)<->FS<->RTPP(2)<->UA2 and then back when the playback is done) , both sessions in the RTPProxy keep receiving packets from their originally latched sources, i.e. RTPP(1) continues receiving packets from RTPP(2) and new stream comes from FS and RTPP(2) keeps receiving packets from RTPP(1) and FS starts sending, that re-latch never happens on neither end. On top of that, the stream generated by the FS has (obviously) different SSRC, so again it makes RTPProxy a bit suspicious if it's some kind of foul play (google "RTP Bleed" attack) and very reluctant to switch over. I cannot tell for sure since I am not familiar with its logic and defaults, but I suspect the rtpengine has none of those features, which may explain the difference... In any case the situation ends up in a stalemate: both RTPP sessions keep happily receiving/sending packets from each other, totally ignoring that additional streams from the FS. Now, as I said there at least one solution to your particular problem, in fact more like at least 4: 1. Since having two sessions on both ends is wasteful and inefficient, consider straightening that out. So instead make your RTP path look like the following: UA1<->OPENSIPS/RTPP<->OPENSIPS<->UA2 Then when FS comes in and triggers re-invite on both legs, the UA1 would be shielded from that port change, while UA2 won't (since there is no RTPProxy on the outbound leg). As a result UA2 would start sending RTP directly to FS (as opposed to the RTPProxy), the RTPProxy would stop receiving that traffic from UA2 on its outbound "leg" and latch FS instead, resulting in a proper RTP path being: UA1<->RTPP<->FS<->UA2 This may or not may be solution to your problem. If you still want for whatever reason shield UA2 from getting RTP traffic directly from the FS, then my next pick is: 2) Only create RTPP(2) session when FS wants to talk and abandon when it stops. This can be accomplished by enabling OpenSIPS on inbound call leg to append a:nortpproxy=yes attribute (default behavior) and OpenSIPS on the outbound leg obey it. Then original session would look like expected, i.e.: UA1<->RTPP(1)<->UA2 Then when FS intervenes, neither of re-INVITEs has that attribute, so the new RTPP session on outbound leg is allocated and the chain becomes: UA1<->RTPP(1)<->FS<->RTPP(2)<->UA2 RTPP(1) stops receiving RTP from the UA2 and happily re-latches to FS instead. :) Then again after FS drops out that should reduce the RTP flow back to the following and RTPP(2) session eventually timeouts: UA1<->RTPP(1)<->UA2 3) Disable any NAT compensation in the RTPProxy in general. Bit of a hevy-weight, but if you expect both UA1 and UA2 to provide trustworthy IP:port in the SDP i.e. if you are only concerned with the topology hiding and don't have NAT in or out it might be the easiest way to go. This should make RTPProxy obey any IP:port combinations it gets from OpenSIPS verbatim. There was functionality for that in RTPProxy, however turns out it was not exposed, so I've just added a new option for that --force_asymmetric ( https://github.com/sippy/rtpproxy/compare/f18630dfa014...7be7d5598a4e) 4) Disable NAT compensation for the RTP "leg" that goes to/fro FS. This one might be a bit trickier to implement - you'd have to have a logic in both request route and response route to add "A" flag into (re-)INVITE that goes from FS and 200/183 that it generates. Hope it helps. 😀 -Max On Tue, Aug 11, 2020 at 5:22 AM Babak Yakhchali <babak.yakhchali(a)gmail.com> wrote: > The same configuration worked with rtp-engine > > On Tue, Aug 11, 2020 at 12:58 PM Babak Yakhchali < > babak.yakhchali(a)gmail.com> wrote: > >> I tried the latest rtpproxy from github and prompt is played >> successfully. Locked, Waiting on external entities & <param name="rtp-timer-name" value="soft"/>
by Jurijs Ivolga 12 Aug '20

12 Aug '20

Hi, For a problem described below I used config more or less identical to minimal configuration. I have a pretty simple VM app written in Lua and usually it works ok and it is more or less the same as in Vanilla config from a user perspective: If there is no answer in 30 seconds then answer, play message and etc, same when callee is replying with busy. Strange things start to happen when I do put "record_session" in front. When this happens then when users do not answer or send busy, nothing happens, freeswitch hangs with "Locked, Waiting on external entities"???? Problem reproducible even if my script is commented out, freeswitch still hangs with the same message "Locked, Waiting on external entities". But I found workaround, if I put in sofia profile: <param name="rtp-timer-name" value="soft"/> It fixes the problem and I'm totally lost why. Any ideas on this? Is it a bug? Why rtp-timer-name changes this particular behavior? Any ideas are more than welcome! I'm still trying to reproduce this bug with Vanilla config, but not successful yet, if I succeed, I will try to open a bug for this in github. Jurijs

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Handle media of all calls via port 443?
by David P 12 Aug '20

Thank you for your suggestion, Sergey. However, I found that introducing those two settings (in FSv10.4 on Debian10) made no difference; I still got just one candidate in FS's answer SDP and it's udp rather than tcp (for port 443)... Before introducing <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="add_ice_candidates=true"/> in /etc/freeswitch/vars.xml and <action application="set" data="media_webrtc=true"/> in /etc/freeswitch/dialplan/mydialplan.xml the browser receives Answer SDP containing only one ice candidate: a=candidate:5500513041 1 udp 659136 35.xxx.yy.zzz 26928 typ host generation 0 After introducing those two config changes, and `fs_cli -x "reloadxml"`, the set of candidates in the answer the browser gets is the same: a=candidate:4793838179 1 udp 659136 35.xxx.yy.zzz 19518 typ host generation 0 The reason I asked about supporting all media (and signaling) via port 443 is that some users are in firewalls that block all ports except 443 (or 80). Best way to originate a call to a group of extensions
by Clive Lansink 11 Aug '20

11 Aug '20

Hello people. Hopefully someone out there can help me with this problem originating a call to a group of extensions. Briefly, I have an IVR application written in Python. It makes a TCP connection to Freeswitch, registers itself to listen for the events it needs, and sends commands to Freeswitch using the API. This all works really well and has been stable for years. One option in the IVR application is to talk to a live agent. This also works well. When the caller chooses this option, I first send an api originate command and park it using &park in the command. I can call user/nnnn for an internal extension, and sofia/outbound/nnnnnnn for an outbound number, and I have a gateway set up called outbound. I do it this way so I can detect if the call is connected and if it is answered. If it isn't answered within a certain time, I can hang up the call and tell the incoming caller that nobody can be reached. But if the call is answered, I then issue a api uuid_bridge command to connect the two calls since I have both the uuids. Now I have been asked if I can do the same thing but to a group of agents. We have an internal number 2000 in our default.xml dialplan that calls a number of phones. The api originate command needs an endpoint but I can't figure that out in this case. I have played with loopback, but I've read that that should only be used if nothing else works. I'm not sure if loopback really works right in this case. How can I originate a call to this number with the same logic? Hope someone can help. Cheers. Can mod_python be adapted tap media?

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Can a module tap media?
by David P 10 Aug '20

Where can I find guidance about creating a media bug for audio+video? Adapt mod_cv? I'd like the inbound streams to be handled by a scriptable env like python. Or could streams be exposed to mod_python? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Brian West <brian(a)freeswitch.com> To: FreeSWITCH Users Help <freeswitch-users(a)lists.freeswitch.org> Cc: Bcc: Date: Sun, 26 Jul 2020 13:02:47 -0500 Subject: Re: [Freeswitch-users] Can a module tap media? Yes, you'd need to write your own media bug for that! First steps and outbound calls
by John Tuxies 10 Aug '20

I am looking for outbound calls and i am stuck with it on how to place outgoing calls. In the /sip_profiles/external there is an xml with the sip trunk provider_A .xml and i can see it registered 👍. The provider_A has a range of DIDs 00302109065730-9 In the /dialplan/public i have created one xml for each DID to route to particular extension 👍 . When someone calls one of the DIDs it goes to the assigned extension. I would like to place outgoing calls and when each extension places an outgoing call to show its DID, as in 1000 as 2109065730...1009 as 2109065739. All other extensions without DID, to show the default number (2109065730) I would like to have a prefix of 0 for the outgoing calls at the moment i would like to allow only the following numbering plans 2XXXXXXXXX (10digits) national landline 69XXXXXXXX (10digits) national mobile 800XXXXXXX (10digits) national Freephones 801XXXXXXX (10digits) national local charge 1XX emergency calls 1XXX Special services 1XXXX Special services Thanks in advance

Handle media of all calls via port 443?
by David P 09 Aug '20

Can FS v1.10 be configured to handle SRTP of all calls via port 443? This would allow us to stop using coturn, which is often too slow to provide a TLS relay candidate before browsers finish gathering ice candidates.
