release manager for FS
by Trixter aka Bret McDanel 16 Oct '07

16 Oct '07

I have talked this over with Tony, who accepted the idea, that we need a release manager. Development skills arent really required. The duties of a release manager is to basically have a list of features that need to be implemented prior to a release, as well as check jira to ensure that all known bugs are fixed. They also have to prepare the changelog/release notes indicating what features were added, and what bugs fixed (ideally this would be a list of the jira bug ids and not just 'many bugs fixed' so that someone could at a glance see if their issue was resolved). In addition to that they would have to mark betas, and allow ample time for users to report bugs, then wait for them to be fixed before marking the next one. Dont be bashful volunteer today! (we really do need someone and if you arent a developer here is a chance to become involved) -- Trixter http://www.0xdecafbad.com Bret McDanel Belfast +44 28 9099 6461 US +1 516 687 5200 http://www.trxtel.com the phone company that pays you!

Language files.. docs/phrase/phrase.xml
by Brian West 16 Oct '07

16 Oct '07

Here is your turn to commit something to the project. I have recently committed the phrase.xml file which contains various phrases needed for the language subsystem in FreeSWITCH. I need as many other language translations as we can get for the phrases. I would also like you to take a look at conf/voicemail_en.xml which is the phrase macros used for english voicemail.. I'll need these updated to support the languages in phrase.xml. This is one key thing that sets FreeSWITCH apart from various other software in this area. Please step up and contribute. Thanks, Brian West

I did nano */use/local/freeswitch/conf/modules.conf.xml but it created a new file. * also you need to enable xml_RPC in */use/local/freeswitch/conf/modules.conf.xml* thanks

What capacity are you engineerin for? Bhca? Michael Murdock Chief Technology Officer 125 N. Market. I am assisting in the development of an IVR platform for a CLEC. They have not decided on a platform and I have suggested Freeswitch. They want me to evaluate and compare with some other options. I do not have commercial launch experience with Freeswitch and I would like to stay with an open source platform. I have launched services on Asterisk and have already recommended against using that as their platform. I do have the information from the FAQ, but it would be helpful to have additional data on load and scalability. Any help would be appreciated. Jonathan Augenstine jaugenstine(a)gmail.com

IMHO, along with a rewritten source base and an up-to-date port to Windows, the fact that PCI cards are supported would definitely be a major selling point for Freeswitch as compared to Asterisk.
