Profile configuration and aliases
by Jonas Gauffin 19 Jun '08

Hello Question 1: I got the following config: Name Type Data State ================================================================================================= outbound profile sip:mod_sofia@MY.PUBLIC.IP:5080 RUNNING (0) nat profile sip:mod_sofia@MY.PUBLIC.IP:5060 RUNNING (0) default profile sip:mod_sofia@192.168.1.124:5070 RUNNING (0) mydomain.com alias default ALIASED ================================================================================================= 3 profiles 1 alias I can't user "originate sofia/default/auser 8888", I get "Cannot locate registered user auser@default". It works if I use "originate sofia/mydomain.com/auser 8888". Shouldn't both work? -------------------------- Question 2: Isn't this valid? <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="domain=$${local_ip_v4}"/> <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="sip_profile=mydomain.com"/> If not, please change the description: "sip_profile: Must be a domain name if you are being a registry server; otherwise can be any string." It produces the following config: Name Type Data State ================================================================================================= outbound profile sip:mod_sofia@MY.PUBLIC.IP:5080 RUNNING (0) nat profile sip:mod_sofia@MY.PUBLIC.IP:5060 RUNNING (0) default profile sip:mod_sofia@192.168.1.124:5070 RUNNING (0) 192.168.1.124 alias default ALIASED ================================================================================================= 3 profiles 1 alias User's cant register using mydomain.com as domain. I tried by adding $${sip_profile} as an alias for the default profile, but that didn't help. -------------------------------- Regards, Jonas

Success stories
by Jim Thomas 19 Jun '08

Hello, I am trying to make the case for FreeSWITCH, and in particular, Sofia SIP. I am being asked whether FreeSWITCH/Sofia is still in the lab, or if there are actual deployments. Does anyone have a success story they can share? Thanks. Jim

1) How to set call duration (for example for 5 minutes ) in js file User bkw__ (from IRC) has advised me to use sched_hangup. First in my dialplan I set following line <action application="sched_hangup" data="+60 alloted_timeout"/> but after 1 minute call didn't automatically hangup. Also in the Internet I found something like this <action application="sched_hangup" data="execute_on_answer=+60 alloted_timeout"/> but still minute call didn't automatically hangup. Why ? 2) Can anybody help me with this problem http://pastebin.freeswitch.org/4641 ? MikeJ on IRC has written something like this: "you can't return a value from a jsrun" "becuase it spawns a thread to do the jsrun " "what you can do is bind an event " "and spawn the event from the js " "thats the only way I can think to do it easilt " So. How bind an event and spawn it from js ? Thanks [argh]

Javascript ODBC with MSSQL
by Areski K 17 Jun '08

Anyone have been working with an MSSQL ODBC connection through Javascript FS !? I am facing this constant error : 2008-06-14 01:38:22 [CRIT] switch_odbc.c:240 db_is_up() The sql server is not responding for DSN DEVMSSQLTDS [] 2008-06-14 01:38:22 [INFO] switch_odbc.c:245 db_is_up() The connection has been re-established It seems that the script block on : db.query(sql); I checked the ODBC connection, DNS and it does work fine from Isql or with php-odbc! For info, this works perfectly if I use an odbc connection on postgresql. I will bet I am the only freak trying to connect to a MSSQL DB ;-) Cheers, //Areski

Problems running SIP Internal Profile: Error Creating SIP UA for profile: internal
by Dan Carlson 17 Jun '08

17 Jun '08

Hi Freeswitch Users, I've just started with Freeswitch, just built and installed it yesterday (Redhat 5). Freeswitch seems like a really interesting platform. I'm looking forward to exploring it. It built and installed fine but unfortunately I'm having a little trouble with getting the Sofia Internal SIP Profile running. The External and Nat profiles start up fine but I get this error both at startup and when I attempt to run 'sofia profile internal start' : 2008-06-16 14:56:59 [ERR] sofia.c:532 nua() Error Creating SIP UA for profile: internal Setting sofia to a higher log level from the prompt gives me no additional information. I've not really done much configuring of internal.xml or var.xml aside from setting bind_server_ip,external_rtp_ip,external_sip_ip to the box's IP. Anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps something that needs to be configured that I've missed? I searched and read through the documentation but can't find any other mention of this issue. Thanks, Dan Carlson

Hello. How to display uuid of channel from js script in php script ? My js script looks like this: //---------------------------------------- function MakeFirstCall(caller_number) { var gateway = "sofia/gateway/myGateway/"; session_leg_a = new Session(); session_leg_a.originate(session_leg_a, gateway + caller_number); session_leg_a.execute("park()"); session_leg_a.streamFile("msg.wav"); var leg_a_uuid = session_leg_a.uuid; // How return leg_a_uuid to php script ???? } if(argv[0] != "") { MakeFirstCall(argv[0]); } exit(); //---------------------------------------- In php I have following lines: //---------------------------------------- $handle = fsockopen('127.0.0.1', '8021', $erno, $errstr, 30); if(!$handle) { die("Connect failed with erno $erno and errstr $errstr\n"); } else { $response= fread($handle, 1024); $authMessage = "auth myFSpassword\r\n\r\n"; fwrite($handle, "$authMessage"); $response = fread($handle, 1024); echo " First response $response "; $command = "api jsrun firstCall.js 0048xxxxxxxx1\r\n\r\n"; fwrite($handle, $command); $response = fread($handle, 1024); echo " Second response $response "; $response = fread($handle, 1024); echo " Third response $response "; } //---------------------------------------- After I run php script I get OK+ result but I want uuid.

Problem with audio path

Hi Gurus, Anyone can help me. I'm a new user and have installed FreeSwitch on a server running a private IP. I have forwarder all ports that are required from my public IP. I am not on the site where the server is installed and am trying to test SIP calls. I have configured the <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="domain=$${local_ip_v4}"/> with my public IP address. I only have 1 public IP that my router is taking therefore having to port forward all the required ports. In the trace everything is appearing as expected now except the RTP portion. Can anyone help in giving me guidance on how to route the RTP stuff back to the public IP?
