Brian, Thank you for your advice. I am in the process of setting up a public IP as you suggested. Meanwhile I was trying to use the Windows version of FS to learn sip and once I get the public IP set up, I will install a Linux version of FS. Others have pointed out to set up ext-sip-ip and ext-rtp-ip as well. I just didn't know how to have them set up properly. Is there any tutorial or example on how to do this? Thanks for your help, appreciated! Kin Quek -------------- brian at freeswitch.org Thu Sep 11 22:21:44 EDT 2008 Previous message: [Freeswitch-users] Can't set up users outside of local domain... And is your softphone behind nat too? If so you need to fully understand what you're doing. You can't use your public IP without first setting up the ext-sip-ip and ext-rtp-ip on the sofia profile. Then you're left with a profile that can't be used by anything behind the same nat. You're better off putting FreeSWITCH on a public IP and then registering to it. /b On Sep 11, 2008, at 9:13 PM, Kin Quek wrote: > Brian, > Attached please find the sofia status. > Thanks, > Kin Quek > -------------------- > show me the output of "sofia status" > > /b >

Setup as SIP/T.38 Proxy?
by David E. Meier 12 Sep '08

12 Sep '08

Hello list, I saw in the description of the project that freeswitch is capable of some proxy functions but could not read on in the documentation section about that. So maybe anyone can give me some comments on my problem: I run a T.38 based fax service for outbound and inbound calls. My voice provider is not able to provide more than one hundered numbers per IP address. Unfortunately, my faxing software cannot listen on a second IP. So, I was thinking of adding another IP address on my existing server and run some sort of proxy on it. Inbound calls would then be transferred to the original server IP address. Could that be solved with freeswitch? Does anyone see potential problems with such a setup? Or are there even better solutions? Thanks, David

DTMF issues/question
by Marc Lewis 11 Sep '08

11 Sep '08

I've been having a problem getting DTMF passed through from registered phones to my termination provider. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My provider is set for rfc2833. In looking through the mod_sofia.conf.xml file, and the sofia sources, it appears that the only two options for DTMF are info and rfc2833. I've tried various combinations and the only thing that ever seems to even sometimes work is if pass-rfc2833 is set to true. I've tried this with Linksys SPA 942 phones, Grandstream GXP 2000 phones and Cisco 7940 phones. Doesn't seem to make a difference. I've also tried various dtmf-durations and that didn't seem to have an effect either. However, after doing various searches it appears that not explicitly setting a dtmf-type in a sofia profile, it defaults to using inband DTMF. Is this correct? If inband DTMF is the default, then I will have my termination provider switch my account over to using inband instead of rfc2833. - Marc -- Marc Lewis Avvatel Corporation

any VOIP service provider support the freeswitch now?
by Dave 11 Sep '08

11 Sep '08

I like to try out the freeswitch in real life call, but besides the connection through the asterisk, it seems that it has no way to directly support by VOIP service provider. I am sure some of the VOIP service provider do see the potential business in this area, but not sure why we still didn't see the crowded. Can someone share with me the list of the VOIP service provider who can support the freeswitch connection, or any good method to connect to VOIP service throguh the SIP. Thanks. David
