Hi, I tried to set the ignore_early_media variable to true in the <variables> section of my gatewayconfiguration, but it did not work. Should it have worked? Thanks,David

Transfer to/of one-legged calls?
by Dmitry Sytchev 11 Jul '16

11 Jul '16

Hi all! For example, I dial something from sip phone and make Playback with some MOH. There will be one-legged call with playback running and FS as B side. sofia/internal/123123 (1) -> FS (Playback) Then I dial my mobile phone: sofia/internal/123123 (2) -> FS -> sofia/external/55555 Then I try to make attended transfer of external/55555 to Playback, so I do REFER trying to connect mobile phone to Playback instance. As far as I understand, currently FS launches transferred channel via dialplan again, instead of somehow replacing original channel with its state. It makes application run again, so playback position is lost. Of course, it is not about playback, but about custom ESL IVRs etc... Is there a way to maintain running application state and doing something like replace on original one-legged call? -- Best regards, Dmitry Sytchev, IT Engineer

Fax detecting using originate
by Gonzalo Gasca Meza 11 Jul '16

11 Jul '16

Hi all, I'm currently generating dial out using "ESL with python" and the originate command. Since some dial out calls are fax I need to classify which of these calls are fax, otherwise I record the ones which are normally answered. I'm trying to use: * execute_on_fax_detect* As follows: *originate {ignore_early_media=true,originate_timeout=20,media_bug_answer_req=True,origination_uuid=4cb6665a-1e2a-4e24-ad71-1602870960d2,origination_caller_id_number=+18623079305,RECORD_STEREO=true,execute_on_fax_detect='txfax /tmp/sample.tif',execute_on_answer='record_session /usr/local/freeswitch/recordings/E6248DD147_8884732963_4ab6665f-1e2a-4e24-ab71-1602870960d2.wav'}sofia/gateway/twilio/+13193412303 &park()* Call is answered but I don't see any fax detection kicking in. I also tried with +18884732963 which is the HP test fax number. In the recording I can hear the Fax tones. *FreeSWITCH (Version 1.7.0 git c9abf45 2016-06-27 22:23:25Z 64bit) is ready* *Logs:* http://pastebin.com/WE4cMdaB *Topology:* python --- ESL --> Freeswitch -- sip-- Twilio ---> PSTN ---> fax When I use: *originate loopback/9178 &txfax(/tmp/surface3d.tiff)* I do see Fax modules being invoked: http://pastebin.com/9P2yJFWS Thank you

Docker DTMF related issue
by Danny Gershman 10 Jul '16

10 Jul '16

I'm having an issue with my DTMF to a Docker container running FS 1.6.9. My sofia profile is set up to use RFC2833. However from a softphone and another FS server it's not detecting the digits. If I switch to INFO method, it works fine. Also is there a quick was to do a uuid_send_dtmf using SIP INFO to work around this issue temporarily? I saw something about a channel variable dtmf_type, which didn't seem to work when I did a uuid_setvar. Thanks, Danny Gershman

Proxy media: how to enable proxy for RTCP as well (was FS-4178)
by Richard Chan 10 Jul '16

10 Jul '16

Hello list, How do you enable proxy for RTCP in proxy media mode? Currently, the SDP shows direct RTCP between UAs, while RTP is proxied (as expected) "FS-4178 RTCP doesn't get proxied in proxy media mode" seems to indicate that RTCP would be proxied as well and this "issue" was fixed a long time ago. When I trace the code a bit: in switch_rtp.c:switch_rtp_activate_rtcp() rtp_session->ms_per_packet is 0 so we never get any deeper into the function. if (!rtp_session->ms_per_packet) { return SWITCH_STATUS_FALSE; } ################ FreeSWITCH 1.6.9 1. All default profiles and dialplans 2. UAs: CSipSimple sip_profiles/internal.xml <param name="inbound-proxy-media" value="true"/> FreeSWITCH 192.168.1.7, UAs 192.168.1.180, 192.168.1.187 SDP shows c IN IP4 192.168.1.7 (fs IP) a rctp:4009 IN IP4 192.168.1.187 (UA IP) Thanks -- Richard Chan

Parallel Outbound Dialing Failure Causes
by Colin Morelli 09 Jul '16

09 Jul '16

Hey all, I'm trying to initiate a parallel outbound bridge to a SIP user and pickup group combination. I have devices on mobile networks that don't register (my experience has been that doing SIP registrations on mobile devices makes little sense - better off to just send a push notification and allow them to call into FS with a pickup group) Anyway, it seems like the call is immediately terminated when FS receives a final response from my SIP endpoint, whether the call_timeout value has been reached or not. I've tried setting fail_on_single_reject=CALL_REJECTED, FS immediately closes the pickup group channel and terminates the bridge, even when the response from the SIP endpoint is UNALLOCATED_NUMBER (404). Am I missing something else here - is this a bug or is this how pickup groups are supposed to work? If the latter, is there something else I can do to ensure the channel bridge attempt stays active and ringing until the timeout is reached, unless one of the legs responds with an explicit decline? Best, Colin

Receiving T.38 fax - CFR not sent by FreeSWITCH after training
by Tomasz Ostrowski 09 Jul '16

09 Jul '16

Hello! First, I'd like to report that faxing issue from my previous mail ("Incorrect reply to T.38 re-INVITE") is still present in FS 1.6.8. It doesn't bother me anymore though as I've observed that FS is issuing re-INVITE also with outgoing fax (I think against common recommendation) thus I can mitigate this problem by disabling re-INVITE from my device. While testing FreeSWITCH 1.6.8 with one local operator I've encountered another issue - when receiving fax from this operator FS is not sending T.30 CFR message after training (i.e. I don't see it transmitted over ethernet) despite "Tx: CFR with final frame tag" showing in log: 22.470661 [DEBUG] switch_core_media.c:9271 IMAGE UDPTL CHANGING DEST TO: [91.187.232.24:3659] 22.470661 [DEBUG] switch_core_media.c:9262 Remote address:port [91.187.232.24:3659] has not changed. 22.470661 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 No signal is present 25.690845 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 Send complete in phase A_CED, state ANSWERING 25.690845 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 Starting answer mode 25.690845 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 Changing from phase A_CED to B_TX 25.690845 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.38T Set rx type 0 25.690845 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.38T Set tx type 4 25.710846 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 Start T2 25.710846 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 Changing from state ANSWERING to R 25.710846 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 Sending ident 'SpanDSP Fax Ident' 25.710846 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 Tx: CSI without final frame tag 25.710846 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 Tx: ff 03 40 74 6e 65 64 49 20 78 61 46 20 50 53 44 6e 61 70 53 20 20 20 25.710846 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 s->send_hdlc_handler, len = 23 27.450946 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 Send complete in phase B_TX, state R 27.450946 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 DIS: 27.450946 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... ...0= Store and forward Internet fax (T.37): Not set 27.450946 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... .1..= Real-time Internet fax (T.38): Set 27.450946 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... 0...= 3G mobile network: Not set 27.450946 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 ..0. ....= V.8 capabilities: Not set 27.470947 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .0.. ....= Preferred octets: 256 octets 27.470947 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... ...0= Ready to transmit a fax document (polling): Not set 27.470947 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... ..1.= Can receive fax: Set 27.470947 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 ..10 11..= Supported data signalling rates: V.27 ter, V.29, and V.17 27.470947 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .1.. ....= R8x7.7lines/mm and/or 200x200pels/25.4mm: Set 27.470947 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 1... ....= 2-D coding: Set 27.470947 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... ..10= Recording width: 215mm +- 1%, 255mm +- 1% and 303mm +- 1% 27.470947 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... 10..= Recording length: Unlimited 27.490948 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .111 ....= Receiver's minimum scan line time: 0ms at 3.85 l/mm; T7.7 = T3.85 27.490948 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 1... ....= Extension indicator: Set 27.490948 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... ..0.= Compressed/uncompressed mode: Compressed 27.490948 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... .1..= Error correction mode (ECM): ECM 27.490948 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .1.. ....= T.6 coding: Set 27.490948 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 1... ....= Extension indicator: Set 27.490948 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... ...0= "Field not valid" supported: Not set 27.510949 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... ..0.= Multiple selective polling: Not set 27.510949 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... .0..= Polled sub-address: Not set 27.510949 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 .... 0...= T.43 coding: Not set 27.510949 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 ...0 ....= Plane interleave: Not set 27.510949 [DEBUG] mod_spandsp_fax.c:276 FLOW T.30 ..0. ....= Voice coding with 32kbit/s ADPCM (Rec. So far I've built FS on Windows to get bigger picture, use debugger and add few extra log lines present above but I think I'll have to wait with testing till Monday as for unknown reason my test account from operator is not responding to incoming calls at the moment. One oddity of this operator seems to be that each T.38 frame is sent only once - if frame would drop and there would be no next frame to send or there would be long pause between messages (that way no T.38 redundancy through secondary info in next packet would help) it might result in problems. I'm looking for suggestions where to lay my eyes on for debugging. -- TMSZ

Update RTP Address On Re-Invite
by Colin Morelli 08 Jul '16

08 Jul '16

I have mobile applications running behind NAT. When their reachability changes (and the device's local route updates), I want to automatically switch the RTP stream to the new address/port combination. I've tried using the RTP ALWAYS_AUTO_ADJUST bug, but that results in *very* choppy audio. I also don't really need it, as the only time I care to perform RTP auto-adjust is after an invite session. For this case I can safely assume that the client *will* send a re-invite when its address changes. Is there any way to perform RTP audio adjust only on a re-invite? Using STUN doesn't seem right for two reasons: 1) on its own it can't solve this problem (even if it determines the external IP, the port is still wrong). 2) it results in issues on FS "Invalid STUN/ICE packet received 20 bytes" Would appreciate any help. Best, Colin

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Re- End Lua script after HangupHook handled without all the extra code to handle the return to the function
by Abaci B 08 Jul '16

08 Jul '16

So after spending more time testing all the options here is what I found. return "exit" and return "die" will exit the script when called from the hangup hook but not when called from within any other function. session:destroy() will only work from the hangup hook but it crashes FreeSWITCH (master from 10 days ago) with error: "freeswitch: src/switch_channel.c:1421: switch_channel_set_variable_var_check: Assertion `channel != ((void *)0)' failed." I will open a Jira for that. >From the main body of a lua script (not within a function) any return will exit the script (e.g. return "blah" would also exit); Calling error() would work from any place except for hangup hook. So while it would have been nice to have one method that works everywhere, at least there is a way to do it wherever you are in the code. Can someone please document this on the lua wiki so that others can save the time figuring it out, or should I open a Jira for that also?
