Is MySQL OK to use?
by Alex Lake 06 Apr '16

06 Apr '16

I find these "Error in my_thread_global_end()" messages somewhat annoying in my fs1.2stable on Ubuntu12.04 box. Is there any advice (other than "don't use MySQL") for how to install it better? Might it be something to do with thread-safe libraries (I'm using libmyodbc_r.so at the moment)

Hello All,I am trying to compile freeswitch latest commit on Ubuntu Server and I am getting stuck while compiling mod_shout. It asked me for adding dependency libmpg123-dev. major build change in master.
by Michael Jerris 18 Mar '16

18 Mar '16

please note this important change that went into master today. As of today, we are no longer using system versions of libyuv and libvpx due to major conflicts with system versions of these libraries. These are now built static into the freeswitch core. Also note, mod_vpx no longer exists, it is automatically loaded as part of the core and you will no longer have mod_vpx.so or have to manually load it. I'll have more details coming, but let me know if you have any questions. Please note for anyone doing cross compiling, this probably needs a bit more work for you, I'll be working on fixing that this week. Mike

FS behind NAT
by Tao Zhang 14 Mar '16

14 Mar '16

Hi all, I have been tracking down why my FS verto video conf demo setup not working. Now I believe the reason is my FS server is behind a NAT. My previous posts may be misleading now, so I am creating a new thread. Some evidence I saw: 1) In the SDP dialog, I saw my FS server's internal IP got used, rather than its public IP, for example Dialog 6c62f631-469c-a2f0-e484-6e9cfcda7eedANSWER SDP v=0 o=FreeSWITCH 1444254094 1444254095 IN IP4 10.240.15.244 s=FreeSWITCH c=IN IP4 10.240.15.244 <============= t=0 0 2) Also, in wireshark , I saw my client is trying to send STUN packets to the FS server's internal IP, 450 18.252726000 192.168.1.7 10.240.15.244 STUN 158 Binding Request user: mlvLvmDzCphyQYz5:N3MZoB99aGiAZotr So now my questions are Will the verto video conf demo work when the FS server is behind NAT? If so, could someone help me with the necessary config changes and etc.? Thanks so much! Tao

Presence. Not sure bug or not.
by Igor Olhovskiy 08 Mar '16

Hi! I have a phones inside my network with BLF widely used. As they are inside network, I’ve set *all-reg-options-ping* on internal profile along with *unregister-on-options-fail*. Main issue - when phone for some reason goes offline, and FreeSwitch unregisters it, it does not sent NOTIFY to watchers (and they are there) to indicate this phone is offline. On any other cases BLF works fine. Is this a bug or I’ve missed some parameter on profile? Thanks. -- Best regards, Igor

Joining several FS servers in different regions
by Oivvio Polite 07 Mar '16

07 Mar '16

I'm working on a Saas service that will connect WebRTC (with SIP or Verto for signaling) clients to one another and to PSTN. I'm aware of other such services, but this is tailored to a specific niche. I also want WebRTC media to flow through FS, rather than P2P, so that I can record it. The primary markets are Europe and North America. To keep latency low I need to have servers on both continents. Later on I might want to add more regions. I'm not too worried about high availability or high loads. The clients can keep track of which FS is closest to them and register with that. But this still leaves me with a couple of questions. 1. Maintaining a single user database ===================================== What's the simplest way of maintaining one joint user database? (User directory in FS parlance). The first thing that comes to mind is to generate the xml dynamically from a central database, and force as `reloadxml` on all servers every time there's an update. The communication between central database and FS servers could be via RabbitMQ. mod_xml_curl could also be a part of this I guess. How does that sound? Is there an other simpler way of achiving my goal that I'm not seeing? 2. Keeping track of where a user i currently registered ======================================================= Let's say I have a client Alice who's registered with a FS server in North America and a client Bob who has registered wit a FS server in Europe. Now Alice tries to call Bob. How does the North America server know that Bob is currently registered with the Europe server and that the call should be routed through there? For this second problem I don't even have a tentative solution so I'm curious to hear any ideas. 3. SIP Trunks and geography =========================== If Alice is in North America and wants to call a PSTN endpoint in North America I should obviously be using a SIP trunk in North America, since going over the Atlantic twice will add a lot of latency. But what about when Alice want to call a PSTN endpoint in Europe? Is it better to use a SIP endpoint in Europe or in North America? Thanks in advance Oivvio
