Predifined vid-logo-img
by Victor Medina 04 Dec '15

04 Dec '15

Hi guys! Is there any way to predifine vid-logo-img for all users joining a conference? I can perefectly to it using the console, but would like it to be predifined as default to every user joining a conference. Thanks as usual! -- Víctor E. Medina M. FreeSWITCH version 1.4.x end of life - recommendation please
by Andrew Keil 02 Dec '15

02 Dec '15

To FreeSWITCH users, In order for my client to plan for FreeSWITCH version 1.4.x end of life, I have a few questions that I hope the FreeSWITCH team can help answer: 1) Since the FreeSWITCH version 1.4.x branch is going end of life in early 2016, then obviously I need my client to migrate to the FreeSWITCH version 1.6.x branch ASAP. Is there a definite date when the FreeSWITCH version 1.4.x branch is going end of life? 2) Regarding the FreeSWITCH version 1.6.x branch: a. Can this run on CentOS 6.x (ie. the latest release of CentOS 6)? i. I understand that CentOS 7 is recommended, however upgrading the OS is a much bigger task than simply upgrading FreeSWITCH. Especially since my client is also PCI compliant to enable credit card processing, which requires rigorous Operating System lockdown. Currently my client will not be using the video features inside FreeSWITCH (ie. initially only using the feature set inside the FreeSWITCH version 1.4.x branch). ii. Is there anything I should be aware of when trying to get FreeSWITCH version 1.6.x branch working on CentOS 6? I appreciate any feedback that you are able to provide to make this process as painless as possible. Regards, Andrew Keil

bridge problem
by huseyin kalyoncu 01 Dec '15

01 Dec '15

Hello Lets say i have a multiple bridge line like this: <action application="bridge" data="sofia/some_interface/some_uri1,sofia/some_interface/some_uri2,sofia/some_interface/some_uri3"/> or a single bridge: <action application="bridge" data="sofia/some_interface/some_uri1"/> Is there any way to execute different dialplan code for each bridge string before directing call to endpoint? i tried to set force_transfer_context for even single bridge string like in given example on this page: https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Force_transfer_context_example But it did not worked. It did not transfer call to given context as expected. Instead, it executed bridge line directly. I can use transfer instead of bridge but it only works for single extension not for multiple extensions. Is there any way to achieve this? Thanks, Huseyin

JSON parser doesn;t work within freeswitch
by Kamil Nigmatullin 30 Nov '15

30 Nov '15

Hello, strange thing found. I fetch JSON object with curl, then parse it. After parsing JSON, although it seems ok, I do not have access to the object. First I tried with lua, then with v8 javascript. Have the same result. When I do so with simple script with nodeJS everything is ok. Could you tell me, if Freeswitch uses some libraries for parcing JSON or any ideas? JSON and code was checked thousand times and also with tcpdump. Thank you -- Kamil Nigmatullin Tel: 77272323748 mob: 7 (707) 2517003 Skype: kamil.nigmatullin

Selective problem with outbound calls
by JT Bock 27 Nov '15

27 Nov '15

Hi, Hoping someone might have some insight... I currently have a Debian 7 system (freeswitch 1.4) with Aastra 6731i phones and a single Polycom 335. Everything works fine. I built a Debian 8 system (freeswitch 1.6) as a drop-in replacement. Inbound calls work fine on the 2 different brands of phones (Aastra, and Polycom), but the Aastra phones cannot make outbound calls. Or rather, they can, but there is no audio. Outbound calls via the Polycom work fine. I did packet captures when making an outbound call with each type of phone, and when using the Aastra phones, there is no response received by the FS box after the Invite. I literally unplug the Debian 7 system and plug in the Debian 8 system. They are identically IP'ed, same SIP and RTP ports, etc. I can move the Debian 8 box to e.g. my home network, and then the Aastra phones work fine. So, it seems this is some kind of firewall/nat problem, but why would the Polycom still work? Is there some configuration parameter on the Aastra phones I should look at? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks, Tim

Blue Green deployment with FreeSwitch
by Oivvio Polite 27 Nov '15

27 Nov '15

Hello! Is is possible to set up a machine in front of a pair of FreeSwitch servers and have it control which of the two servers is currently responsible for handling traffic. The point of this, of course being that it would minimize downtime during server repair or upgrades. Martin Fowler describes this pattern in general terms here: http://martinfowler.com/bliki/BlueGreenDeployment.html Regards, Oivvio Polite

Re: [Freeswitch-users] 2 FS with shared database, cannot call subscribers on different servers
by Lyle Pratt 27 Nov '15

We've encountered something like this before and it ended up being a NAT issue. Users could receive calls from the server they are registered to because the registration would open a pinhole in their router. However, they could not receive calls from the other instance (no pinhole). We couldn't find a way around this. I'm not sure if this is your same issue, but maybe this will help debug. Is 1.6 the recommended version?
by Oivvio Polite 27 Nov '15

27 Nov '15

I'm just getting started with FS and installed under Jessie following the instructions here https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/Debian+8+Jessie. This gives med 1.4.23. Is 1.6 preferrable for new installations? Regards Oivvio
