Re: [Freeswitch-users] Originating calls

Hi everyone. So far it seems loopback is doing what I want so thank you for that. Although it seems to me we might be going round the houses a bit, I have successfully originated calls to local extensions and remote numbers via different gateways by just calling loopback/number/default/xml. This means I don't have to specify the endpoint needed for the given phone number. I probably need to do more testing but so far it is looking good. Cheers. how to find ring time
by Andre 03 Aug '14

03 Aug '14

Hi, following these instructions my ring time comes out to be 49280130. I'm not sure what kind of number this is. How do I convert this to milliseconds? http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Cdr How long did the phone ring How long the phone rang is determined either by the hangup_time or the answered_time: if ( answered_time == 0 ) then length_of_phone_ringing = hangup_time - created_time else length_of_phone_ringing = answered_time - created_time end

You can originate a call to the dialplan, e.g. from the docs <http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_commands#originate>: Here's an example of originating a call to an extension in a different context than 'default' (required for the FreePBX which uses context_1, context_2, etc.): originate sofia/internal/2001(a)foo.com 3001 xml context_3 However, you have to have a valid A leg - which seems to have to be a SIP destination. Otherwise, you can create a lua or JS ivr and have that be your A-leg and make outbound calls. -Avi On Sun, Aug 3, 2014 at 6:19 AM, Clive Lansink <clive(a)lansink.co.nz> wrote: > Hello Freeswitch users. > > Currently when I originate a call in my IVR application, I execute the API > originate command like this: > api originate > {variable1=data,variable2=data}sofia/gateway/outbound/<number> &park() xml > default > So yes I have a gateway called outbound and this originates a call by > dialling the specified number on that gateway and parking it. If you did that you would lose control of the call, you could not use originate, you wuld just have to let the dialplan process the call and maybe get the uuid with execute_on_something. Surely that is what the dialplan can do. When any call comes in in any context, the dialplan works out how to process that call and routes it to a variety of possible places, including an internal extension and an external gateway. Now I want to originate a call, why does the originate command insist on me specifying the full endpoint to use? Originating calls
by Clive Lansink 03 Aug '14

03 Aug '14

Hello Freeswitch users. Currently when I originate a call in my IVR application, I execute the API originate command like this: api originate {variable1=data,variable2=data}sofia/gateway/outbound/<number> &park() xml default So yes I have a gateway called outbound and this originates a call by dialling the specified number on that gateway and parking it. I get the UUID and can then do stuff with it. But what I really want to do is originate a call by putting the specified phone number through the dialplan so Freeswitch can work out which endpoint to use. I am sure this must be possible but I can't figure out how to do it. Just to summarise, I want to originate a call to a number which might be a local extension or it might be a number that is reached through a gateway. Why can't I do something like: api originate {variable1=data,variable2=data}<number> &park() xml default I want Freeswitch to work out which Sofia profile and endpoint to use. I want Freeswitch to park the call in the same way as above and give me the UUID. Is this possible? Can anyone help with this please? Thank you. We're planning for a FS cluster in Singapore and Hong Kong and are looking for carriers to integrate with - preferably ones with higher quality & service tiers, even if it means paying a bit more. Does anyone have any recommendations for companies like this? So far Google hasnt been overly helpful.

Forward and Reverse Clock Skew Detected
by terry＠digital-outpost.com 02 Aug '14

02 Aug '14

Out of curiosity I checked my FreeSWITCH logs and since April 6 there have been 66 occurrences of the Reverse Clock Skew Detected message and 22 of Forward Clock Skew Detected. 2014-07-31 11:24:21.023302 [CRIT] switch_time.c:1091 Reverse Clock Skew Detected! 2014-07-31 11:24:21.023302 [CRIT] switch_time.c:1104 If you see this message many times consider a nicer machine to run me on. I AM *FREE* after all. The machine is a 2.3GHz i7 Mac mini with 8GB RAM running 10.9.4 and is basically 95-99% idle. The only thing it's running is FreeSWITCH for home--two extensions and two DIDs. There's no pattern I can see when the skew messages occur. Usually once every 1-3 days, but infrequently it can be 2-3 times per day. Monotonic clock issue? Anything to do about it? FreeSWITCH Version 1.4.6+git~20140603T193516Z~9479729340~64bit (git 9479729 2014-06-03 19:35:16Z 64bit) Thanks, -Terry
