I'm looking for an event on which I can trigger when a channel is ringing. From what I have seen in the wiki this should be the CHANNEL_PROGRESS event. We have connected freeswitch with a Sangoma A104 card to the PSTN. The problem is that we do not always get a CHANNEL_PROGRESS event. It seems that the event is only fired when we receive a PROGRESS message in the Q.931 protocol, which is not always the case. However in Q.931 we always get an ALERT message, which seems not to be translated into a reasonable ESL message. We also tried to trigger on the CHANNEL_CALLSTATE event with Parameter Original-Channel-Call-State=RINGING,however also this event was sometime missing. The field Channel-Call-State is either "ACTIVE", "EARLY" or DOWN, but never "RINGING" Is there any other event I can trigger on, or is it a bug when I never receive a CHANNEL_CALLSTATE event with Channel-Call-State=RINIGING? Thanks Markus

Screen vs -nc
by Alex Lake 04 Jun '13

04 Jun '13

What's the difference between running freeswitch using the Linux "screen" command compared to running it with the -nc flag? They seem to achieve similar goals. Obviously, you can't re-attach to the -nc version, but are there any intrinsic advantages of one over the other?

Can mod_lcr handle indeterminate jurisdictional CIDs?
by DP . 04 Jun '13

04 Jun '13

Basically any Caller ID not in a standard NANPA format. Seems most carriers rate such calls at the higher intra-state rate. I noticed mod_lcr just chooses the 'interstate' field for any CID that's not technically intra-state. (We don't use the intra-lata field, since our carriers usually don't). If not, what would the bounty be to have such a feature added? Thanks, Damian

SQL SERVER 2008 compatibility
by Vincent Xia 04 Jun '13

SQL SERVER 2008 compatibility when im trying to migrate freeswitch core db from sqlite to ms sql server, i 1. create a db in sql server 2008 2. create odbc dsn "freeswitch" 3. modify the conf:<param name="core-db-dsn" value="freeswitch:sa:XXXXXX" /> 4. start freeswitch console then i got plenty of errors like [ERR] switch_odbc.c:514 ERR: [delete from channels where hostname='XXXXXXXX'] [STATE: 42S02 CODE 208 ERROR: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object 'channels'.] i checked the db which i created in step 1 and found freeswitch tables had been created automatically as calls, channels, but all with a prefix 'dbo.', i.e. the table names are dbo.calls, dbo.channels, so how can i make freeswitch operate these tables through ODBC?

FreeSWITCH Release Announcements, Release Notes and Change Logs?
by Markus von Arx 04 Jun '13

04 Jun '13

Hello everybody I'm a FreeSWITCH user for about 6 months now. What still baffles me is how to find out about new FreeSWITCH releases. Some releases are posted on the FreeSWITCH homepage http://www.freeswitch.org/ (e.g. 1.2.9), but not all of them (e.g. 1.2.10). And even these posts don't contain any information about the updates/changes/bugfixes in the release. Google and wiki search didn't help either. So here's my questions: - Where do you announce new FreeSWITCH releases? Neither the FreeSWITCH homepage nor the FreeSWITCH wiki nor the FreeSWITCH mailing lists seem to provide such announcements. - Where can I find detailed release notes or change logs for each new FreeSWITCH release with a list of new features, bugfixes and other changes in that release? Neither the FreeSWITCH homepage nor the FreeSWITCH wiki nor the FreeSWITCH mailing lists nor the FreeSWITCH source code (ChangeLog still ends with 1.2.7 in 1.2.10) seem to provide such information. Thanks a lot for any help, Markus von Arx

Freeswitch 1.2.0 "hangup"
by Alex Lake 04 Jun '13

04 Jun '13

When I started an oldish instance of freeswitch this morning, it didn't work the first few times, logging the message "hangup" as its final action. I did eventually get it working, but wondered why it would do this? Maybe something to do with SIP traffic hitting it before it was properly ready?
