Multiple network interfaces, can't force freeswitch to use one.
by Joshua Nankin 29 Jun '12

I have two interfaces on my machine, eth0=10.0.2.15 and eth1=192.168.1.7. I'm trying to get freeswitch to only use eth1. I've put the following at the top of my vars.xml: <X-PRE-PROCESS cmd="set" data="local_ip_v4=192.168.1.7"/> However, this does not seem to be working. When I originate a call, I see that the initial invite is originating from 10.0.2.15, but incoming packets from my sip provider are going to 192.168.1.7 and are not being responded to by freeswitch. Shouldn't freeswitch be listening on 192.168.1.7 and sending packets from there as well? What am I doing wrong?

Unofficial Debian repository
by Julian Pawlowski 28 Jun '12

28 Jun '12

Hi folks, just wanted to let you know that I have just setup an unofficial nightly build repository for FreeSWITCH. It currently builds for squeeze, wheezy and sid all in i386 as well as amd64 architectures. Current build status can be seen here: https://build.profhost.eu/view/FreeSWITCH/ The actual repository is available here: http://repo.profhost.eu/debian/dists/ Feel free to use it for your personal purposes. Just put the following line into your /etc/apt/sources.list: dep http://repo.profhost.eu/debian DISTRIBUTION main Change DISTRIBUTION for your actual base installation. I will use this repo for system integration of Gemeinschaft 5 so from my side I will keep this repo running until the official one from FreeSWITCH guys is up and running. Cheers, Julian

Looking up user data in dialplan
by Andrew Cassidy 28 Jun '12

28 Jun '12

Hi All, Right, I have a very basic application I'm building around voicemail. Each user has 2 attrs that I need to search by. user_exists works fine, but doesn't return me any data other then the fact the user exists, and user_data only searches the id attr. Is there any way I can do that in just the dialplan with what is already available? In the most simple form I need the user id for a number_alias. -- *Andrew Cassidy BSc (Hons) MBCS SSCA* Managing Director *T <info(a)cassidywebservices.co.uk> *03300 100 960 *F<info(a)cassidywebservices.co.uk> *03300 100 961 *E <info(a)cassidywebservices.co.uk> *andrew(a)cassidywebservices.co.uk *W <info(a)cassidywebservices.co.uk> *www.cassidywebservices.co.uk

The question is: Is the limit for RTP sessions limited to CPU power or are there also limits on the freeswitch application and can I tune freeswitch to do the job for 1500 sessions or more. At the moment freeswitch is the best transcoding device for SILK to G711a that I know of. Also compared to the big companies who deliver transcoding devices. T.38 rtp auto adjust
by Steven Lam, KeenSystems B.V. 28 Jun '12

Hi all, When FS has a public IP and clients from behind nat connect to this machine the "rtp auto adjust" function is really very handy! Now when using T.38 (T38 Passthru), it seems FS is no longer doing "rtp auto adjust". Is there a way to make FS do "rtp auto adjust" for a T.38 fax session? Steven.

FreeSWITCH Version 1.2.0-rc2+git~20120625T160048Z~690cae5de1 I am trying to validate the input from read app using lua. But it always has nil value when pass to lua. What am I doing wrong? Gary

Always PAUSE Jitterbuffer
by Jose Miguel Sucasas Mejuto 28 Jun '12

28 Jun '12

Hello, I have installed Freeswitch from GIT (currenty I have installed 1.2.0-rc2+git~20120625T203158Z~7dc9a9cacc version). Because some users connects from 3G network using a smartphone, I try to activate JitterBuffer and Packet Loss Concealing in both directions (in a call with U1 and U2, I try to activate 90ms jitterbuffer in audio flow U1->U2 and another 90ms jitterbuffer in audio flow U2->U1). To achieve this, I have this in dialplan (default.xml file): <action application="cng_plc"/>  <action application="set" data="jitterbuffer_msec=90"/> <action application="set" data="sip_jitter_buffer_during_bridge=true"/>  <action application="jitterbuffer" data="debug:${uuid}"/>  <action application="bridge" data="{jitterbuffer_msec=90,absolute_codec_string='SILK@16000h,iLBC@30i,G729,AMR,AMR-WB,H263,H264'}user/${dialed_extension}@${domain_name}"/> User 1002 is on the same network as Freeswitch box, connected by ethernet line, and user 1001 is on 3G, when user 1002 calls to user 1001 (both of them uses iLBC30 codec), on fs_cli it seems that JitterBuffer is activated (in bold green) 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [NOTICE] sofia.c:5930 Ring-Ready sofia/internal/sip:1001@10.10.57.82:50203! 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [INFO] switch_ivr_originate.c:1156 Sending early media 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [INFO] switch_nat.c:590 NAT port mapping disabled 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [INFO] switch_nat.c:590 NAT port mapping disabled 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] sofia.c:5838 Channel sofia/internal/sip:1001@10.10.57.82:50203 entering state [proceeding][180] 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] sofia_glue.c:3269 AUDIO RTP [sofia/internal/1002@sukmad.dyndns-home.com:58180] 79.150.184.57 port 11154 -> 192.168.0.15 port 10000 codec: 98 ms: 30 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] switch_rtp.c:1861 Starting timer [soft] 240 bytes per 30ms 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] switch_rtp.c:2207 RTCP send rate is: 5000 and packet rate is: 30000 Remote Port: 10001 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] switch_rtp.c:1230 Setting RTCP remote addr to 192.168.0.15:10001 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] sofia_glue.c:3491 Setting Jitterbuffer to 90ms (3 frames) 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] sofia_glue.c:3533 Set 2833 dtmf send payload to 101 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] sofia_glue.c:3539 Set 2833 dtmf receive payload to 101 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] sofia_glue.c:3566 sofia/internal/1002@sukmad.dyndns-home.com:58180 Set rtp dtmf delay to 40 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] mod_sofia.c:2606 Ring SDP: v=0 o=FreeSWITCH 1340812160 1340812161 IN IP4 79.150.184.57 s=FreeSWITCH c=IN IP4 79.150.184.57 t=0 0 m=audio 11154 RTP/AVP 98 101 a=rtpmap:98 iLBC/8000 a=fmtp:98 mode=30 a=rtpmap:101 telephone-event/8000 a=fmtp:101 0-16 a=silenceSupp:off - - - - a=ptime:30 a=sendrecv 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [NOTICE] mod_sofia.c:2609 Pre-Answer sofia/internal/1002@sukmad.dyndns-home.com:58180! 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] switch_channel.c:3042 (sofia/internal/1002@sukmad.dyndns-home.com:58180) Callstate Change RINGING -> EARLY 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] switch_core_session.c:778 Send signal sofia/internal/1002@sukmad.dyndns-home.com:58180 [BREAK] 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] switch_ivr_originate.c:1205 Raw Codec Activation Success L16@8000hz 1 channel 30ms 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] switch_core_codec.c:219 sofia/internal/1002@sukmad.dyndns-home.com:58180 Push codec L16:70 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] switch_ivr_originate.c:1268 Play Ringback Tone [%(2000,4000,440,480)] 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] switch_core_session.c:924 Send signal sofia/internal/1002@sukmad.dyndns-home.com:58180 [BREAK] 2012-06-27 20:55:14.929462 [DEBUG] sofia.c:5831 Channel sofia/internal/1002@sukmad.dyndns-home.com:58180 skipping state [early][183] 2012-06-27 20:55:14.939460 [DEBUG] switch_core_session.c:924 Send signal sofia/internal/sip:1001@31.4.238.246:22268 [BREAK] 2012-06-27 20:55:14.939460 [DEBUG] switch_core_session.c:924 Send signal sofia/internal/sip:1001@31.4.238.246:22268 [BREAK] 2012-06-27 20:55:14.939460 [DEBUG] sofia.c:5838 Channel sofia/internal/sip:1001@31.4.238.246:22268 entering state [proceeding][180] 2012-06-27 20:55:14.939460 [NOTICE] sofia.c:5930 Ring-Ready sofia/internal/sip:1001@31.4.238.246:22268! 2012-06-27 20:55:15.029459 [DEBUG] switch_core_session.c:924 Send signal sofia/internal/sip:1001@31.4.238.246:22268 [BREAK] 2012-06-27 20:55:15.029459 [DEBUG] switch_core_session.c:924 Send signal sofia/internal/sip:1001@31.4.238.246:22268 [BREAK] 2012-06-27 20:55:15.029459 [DEBUG] sofia.c:5838 Channel sofia/internal/sip:1001@31.4.238.246:22268 entering state [proceeding][180] 2012-06-27 20:55:15.069457 [DEBUG] switch_rtp.c:3527 Correct ip/port confirmed.
