How to break a playback with loops
by Daniel Liang 24 Jun '12

24 Jun '12

Hi, I am trying to playing back a wav file a few times, and on receiving a dtmf event, it stops playing the file. The command I sent is: sendmsg call-command: execute execute-app-name: playback execute-app-arg: <the wav file> loops: 4 On receiving a dtmf event, I send a break command: sendmsg call-command: execute execute-app-name: break However, that only breaks one loop of the playback. And I have to press a dtmf for 4 times to stop the file. I tried sending 4 break commands all at once. But it didn't work. And even worse, my program stops receiving dtmfs anymore. My guess is that the first break stops the first loop, but before the second loop starts, the following 3 breaks stop something else that I don't know what they are. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. FreeSWITCH Installer for Debian
by Brian Foster 21 Jun '12

21 Jun '12

Alright, so I've managed to put together a BASH script to install FS on top of Debian (Squeeze). I took the information on the wiki, along with some best practices and threw them all together for an automated installer. I came up with this really because I'm 'lazy'. I'm on version 0.0.2, and it's not considered extremely safe due to almost no error checking. I'd like to add some of that in. Plans are in the works to do some command line switches, put some options in so that you can customize certain things about the FS install, as well as having a guided install. The guided install would really be for the beginners, and would do such things as setting the hostname, setting timezone data, basically build FreeSWITCH from an absolutely clean install. When Ken's Debian packages come out for FreeSWITCH, I plan on adding the ability to install from those packages as well as just installing from git head and (eventually) the 1.2 branch. I'd like to get some testers from the community and get some feedback on what they would like to see in this installer. It's still VERY basic, and that's a good thing! This way, I can add features from the get-go from users that are used to installing FS in a certain way. http://files.endigovoip.com/freeswitch/fs-debian-installer/fs-debian-instal…<< Current Version as of this writing is 0.0.2 To start, do this: cd wget files.endigovoip.com/freeswitch/fs-debian-installer/fs-debian-installer_las… fs-debian-installer.sh chmod +x fs-debian-installer.sh ./fs-debian-installer.sh Let me know what you think! -- Brian D. Most Scalable Way To Control FreeSwitch.
by Joe Flemmings 20 Jun '12

20 Jun '12

What is the most scalable way to control FreeSwitch Routing dynamically (apart from XML configs) that has the least load on FreeSwitch and scales the best. This is to help achieve the most Call Setups Per Second (CPS) eg xml_rpc, lua, event socket etc Joe

Event Socket
by Roger Castaldo 11 Jun '12

11 Jun '12

Hi everyone i have a simple question, is there an api command that will list all the available events that can be listened on by the event socket? i realize there is a wiki page containing a list but for my purposes an api command to list the available event names would be much better.

State of GUIs
by Brett Wilson 10 Jun '12

10 Jun '12

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any info on the current state of FS guis? It seems that most of the gui projects (blue.box, fusionpbx) have been mostly abandoned in terms of development. I would like something simple for end users to self-administer if needed. The problem I have with fusionpbx is that config files are overwritten by whatever is in the database. If you hand-edit a config file, fusion will not parse the file and load those settings into the interface. I realize that takes much more coding to do than using a database to simply write config files. But I feel that the freeswitch interface could be improved anyway. Unfortunately it seems that project has been abandoned. There have not been any releases since mid-2011. Anything new out or around the corner? Re: [Freeswitch-users] Questions on Building an application for FreeSWITCH

Glad to hear. I still say to build the app and logic completely separately and connect it to FreeSWITCH over the socket using ESL. -- Kristian Kielhofner http://blog.krisk.org ----- Original Message ----- From: freeswitch-users-bounces(a)lists.freeswitch.org <freeswitch-users-bounces(a)lists.freeswitch.org> To: freeswitch-users(a)lists.freeswitch.org <freeswitch-users(a)lists.freeswitch.org> Sent: Wed May 12 18:28:13 2010 Subject: Re: [Freeswitch-users] Questions on Building an application forFreeSWITCHThis is legit. We are not into harassing anyone. There are too many people doing that already. We currently have this working on a Windows/Dialogic platform, but would like to get it over to FreeSWITCH for a number of reasons. It is always nice to avoid spending alot of time developing using a method that you later find has serious issues or limitations and then having to change horses and start over. I just thought I would tap on someone else's wisdom in regards to a good way to talk to FS that works well. I did notice that the wiki talks like LUA is the preferred way to go. Eaves Drop
by Rob Moore 21 May '12

21 May '12

Hi All, Hopefully looking for a quick answer here. We are using the Eavesdrop function to supply a "call barging" service for a call centre we are running through a web UI but we have a few problems around transfers where we park the call and switching the barge from one agent to another. Basically I need some method of removing the media bug from the agents channel. I've searched the Wiki and done a few googles but I can't seem to find anything that we can call to remove a bug. We're doing all of our control of freeswitch through lua so anything that we can call from the CLI would be great. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Rob

Choopy one-way noise
by Christian Benke 11 May '12

11 May '12

Hello! On a box with a Sangoma A500 BRI card i have a serious audio quality problem. The "outside"-leg of a call hears a choppy robotic noise, it's difficult to understand the actual voice. I hope someone recognizes this issue, as i have tried several approaches and so far i neither know what causes the problem nor where it is caused exactly. Here's a sample file(The noise is not very noticeable, it's the oscillating hum you hear in the background, the short voice-sample you hear is mine, but it's inbound so it's not affected): http://poab.org/test1.wav If the call is set on-hold or if there's a playback/moh, the quality for the outside-leg is fine while there's no two-way-audio, so my assumption was that it's some kind of problem with codecs or transcoding. Capturing the RTP-Stream from the phone to the server proved though that the quality is fine before it arrives at FS(There are no audio problems on internal calls as well). Here's what else i've tried without success: - set disable-monotonic-timing to true - started FS with the -rt Flag(As well as -waste and -heavy-timer) - jitter "time_test" 100 100 responds with avg 130(Thats fine right?) - rearranged the codec-settings of the phone(Sangoma SPIP 450) to give A-law the highest priority - high-precision-timer is available in the kernel according to dmesg and /proc/timer_list (kernel is 2.6.32-5-686 on debian 6.0) Sangoma's Support appears to be clueless as well, they didn't have effective suggestions so far(Opened a ticket 2 weeks). Since i don't have this problem with identical hardware without Sangoma-Cards(SIP-Trunk instead), my first assumption was the card. Probably an interrupt issue? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated, i'm a bit at loss now and only know more drastic next steps(Replacing ISDN-Modules or the whole hardware). Best regards, Christian

mod_fifo how temporary to disable call dispatch to an offline agent
by afshin afzali 09 May '12

09 May '12

Dear FreeSWITCHers, The offline agents need to make outgoing calls while waiting for call arrivals. To prevent an influence outgoing by incoming call, they need to logout, making call and then login to the queue ! also doing logout & login automatically alters the actual login time :( I'm looking for a solution which can disable call dispatch temporary for a specific agent. Appreciate all comments, -- afshin
